Thicker skates for Logitech G502 mouse

Anyone knows an online store where I could buy slightly thicker mouse skates (gliding feet) for Logitech G502 mouse?

Original one surface peeled from one and even when they were new, the belly of the mouse was catching the mouse pad. Since sensor detects movement like half a centimeter away from surface, attaching thicker skates would solve this. But I can't seem to find any that specifically have a slightly higher thickness. I did find bunch of replacement ones, but they probably emulate original thickness.

Any ideas?

Get foam rubber, exacto knife/scaple, adhesive. Cut foam rubber to size of glides, stick onto mouse first, then install glides. Otherwise get a different mousepad or mouse...

I've never seen those being sold but you could ...

Those are just Teflon coated rubber (I believe) so technically you could use Teflon tape which is what plumbers use when they wrap the threads of copper and other types of piping ,& add to several layers ,X-Acto knife cut it to the shape of the skate ,& you're all set

.6mm

there is different depths available on amazon for the G502 and other mice

.28mm

if you need more depth, add the teflon tape i mentioned earlier, it is the same stuff, but thinner, id venture a bet its a damn sight stronger too

While thicker feet may sound like a great idea, you will need to worry about the LOD of the mouse. If the feet are too thick, it may make the mouse sit too high for the laser/optical sensor to read the mouse pad.

Also I am not sure how Teflon tape would work as it is way too thin, and isn't actually tape at all (IE there is no sticky side).

Also I am not sure how Teflon tape would work

teflon tape is available in varying thicknesses, but it is often .003inch, aka .07mm, an entire mouse skate is .2-.6mm on average, so adding a 1/4 or 1/3 of that is about all there is for an option short of replacing with taller skates all together.

as far as the sticking, your right ...the one i linked above in the pic isnt sticky, but teflon sure does come with adhesive. ive used it to fix mice, it works.

regardless tho, i linked the taller replacement skates on amazon too

as far as the pixart sensor seeing movement at a taller height, that is a good point, if i lift mine, it doesnt see very high up, but adding .5mm wont make a diff imo

I disagree with the posters above. The best way to solve this problem is to stack aftermarket feet over your original feet to your desired thickness.

I prefer the performance of double stacked mice feet.

I buy Hotline or Tiger Games mouse feet from ebay, there are a number of sellers. Then you can stack them over the original feet. This makes them taller. They don't come off easily so its not going to be a problem to have them doublestacked, it is not going to sheer off. I have used them on Zowie, Microsoft, and Logitech mice no problem. They last longer than stock feet and move much better. Personally I like the Tiger Games better, they seemed to glide smoother. They are pretty much the same as Hotlines.

Here is an example of a seller:
Hotline Games:

use electric tape or few layers of clear tape...

I'm sure you wont ascend to ghetto mods level though.

Nah this is a bad move, it wears through very quick and then it gunks the mouse pad, I have tried it.

It's not gonna be a problem. I've checked and it registers movement perfectly even at 5mm distance. Adding 0.5mm to the usual 0.6mm thick feet shouldn't be a problem imo.

I've had this belly grinding problem with nearly all mice on various mouse pads from plastic, clothed cheap ones with foam base to my current Goliathus clothed with silicone base. It just seems like it's just too close to the pad no matter what.

I did ask Logitech, but since it's weekend I'll have to wait till tomorrow. Still, theirs will be of same thickness as the ones that came with mouse. Though, they'll at least have original thickness, current ones were probably already thinner due to wear...

I don't know if they come with the .6 or the .28 or whatever it is ,but I'm 100% certain it'll work (at least up to the width of a couple credit cards) beyond what's already installed from the factory. I tested it earlier today after reading this thread.

If it's the .6 that come installed from the factory ,what I would do is just purchase a pair of the half height skates ,& remove the originals ,install the new half Heights ,and then put the originals or a new pair of the same default ones on top. that would give you an extra .28 millimeters of height or whatever it is.

I've tried that on my G3 and it doesn't work. They eventually slide off the bottom ones and the exposed glue also gathers dust like crazy. It has to be one piece thick feet that is glued into a "socket" designed for it so it doesn't slide out because of movement.

I haven't had that problem, but I wipe the original feet down with isopropyl alcohol to get them clean then I press the feet on top. They last a few years for me.

I've never doubled up skates personally so I can't say yes ,or no to it working....but I have added Teflon tape ,and never had a problem with it coming off.

I think the trick is you have to remove the factory adhesive if you're reusing the skates, because as mentioned if there's any exposed glue from the edges protruding higher out ,it is a magnet for dirt and hair ,& any other crap which will cause it to come out.

Or the way I have done in the past, apply the Teflon tape on top of the skates so the tape is what makes contact with the mouse pad or surface. I never removed the factory adhesive in this situation though as it holds the teflon tape edges down, all I did was lay the tape down and put the skate on top of the tape, and then basically wrap it ,so it goes around the edges at least a small amount, and then add a little bit a hot glue & boom! all good.

All that crap aside though ,I imagine there's somebody who sells taller skates as a replacement

In the end I've decided for a pair of Corepad Skatez. Tiny bit more expensive than generic black ones from china. Have good experience with white HyperGlide ones, but they don't have G502 ones. And I'll get them sometime next week where from china, maybe next year or end of december... I need my rat back in action sooner :p

Never use a mouse pad, problem solved. any kind of feet/ even dirty skates or sheer plastic glide superbly on a naked desk drawer, gunk and all.

It doesn't. Sweat from hands accumulate on the desk and mouse feet literally vacuum suck themselves onto a smooth desk surface.

Lol, had total adventure today with the mouse...

- postman just dropped a note without handing me over the package with mouse skates even though I was at home
- all grumpy picked it up at post office
- took old ones off and cleaned the glue
- since you can only access screws with no skates attached, I figured I should open it up and clean it
- broke off some tiny electronic shit from side buttons PCB
- soldered small shit back on
- TESTED, MOUSE WORKS CORRECTLY! :D
- assemble it together, stick the new skates on
- plugged it in and... It makes repeating DONG sounds like i'm repeatedly plugging it in
- FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

So, I've ordered another G502, this one is Proteus Spectrum instead of Proteus Core. Basically the same shit, just with adjustable RGB lighting. I'll use the old one for spare parts if needed. And I have 3 sets of new spare skates so it would be silly to buy something else. Oh well. Also bought another mouse pad since I had this one for ages and mouse is not gliding well on it anymore.

Gotta love it when everything goes as planned to the letter. Said no one ever. XD
