FrozenCPU Rises from the Dead

FrozenCPU was one of the leading computer water cooling stores in its prime. If you needed a special fitting, reservoir, or any other water cooling part, you knew exactly where you had to go. Needless to say, the company left many water cooling enthusiasts heartbroken when they closed their doors back in 2015. According to an ex-employee's testimony, the owner Mark Frigga battled with an addiction problem for a long time, and an unfortunate series of events led to warehouse damage and the firing of all personnel. Now, two years later, FrozenCPU is ready to start from a clean slate. The company returns with a new direction and employees ready to fulfill all your water cooling needs once again. They've also upgraded their "OCN" coupon code to a 6% discount in order to recover their clientele.

I was completely ignorant of FrozenCPU being gone anyways, since the last time that I had even looked for watercooling hardware was in late 2011.

I did a build for my father just last month and ordered about $400 worth of watercooling hardware from FrozenCPU and everything arrived on time and in working condition.

It's been ages since I shopped with FrozenCPU their prices(product and shipping) were quite high compared to Performance-PCS and Newegg. Only time I shopped from there was they had better selection of slim(20mm and 15mm) fans compared to others. If their prices are competitive then yes I might shop from them again.

It's so cool that Frozencpu.com still have a functional website, it may look dated but it actually works, unlike 99% of "updated" retailers sites these days which look flashy but have horrid functionality with drop down boxes that waste time, useless search functions, etc etc.

Nowhere a reference of their location. Who cares then? I have read their benches way back, never checked what's behind... If TPU is or pretents to be global, start taking it seriously and put this into a local news section and add a flag (or hamburger icon, lol, guessing from pre-fab shop)

Bit late with this news ... after Mark's "troubles" , FCPU re-opened within a few months.... none of the staff survived. I kinda got the impression that with so many companies waiting to be paid for FCPUs inventory that it might have been placed in receivership and someone hired to sell off the existing stock. We had an account there ... with a few dollars of credit on it. But numerous calls to the operation to discuss plans going forward were not returned. I have bought odds and ends since as not a real fan of alternative sources, but lack of new stock for latest generation components has had us buying most items elsewhere. FCPU set a new level of service ... unequaled in the marketpklace when they were up and running. If ya sent a e-mail in fpor the parts that arrived on Saturday or Sunday, mark would email back or more often call ya on the phone so you could get that box assembled and off ya workbench (or what my wife likes to call "the dining room table") before the weekend was over.

I do see that they now have water blocks for current generation products in stock so it would seem some chnage has indeed ocurred. And if owner and / or staff has returned, or new folks have taken over, they should make it known.

Once an Addict, ALWAYS AN ADDICT! Fail company, they left many out to dry when he fell of the wagon last time, not the only company to order from.

Glad to hear this, I wish them the best of luck. I always shopped with them and never had any issues at all. They seemed to have what I wanted when other stores didn't have the part.

When FCPU went down, I'd use FCPU site to find what products i wanted and then go buy them at PerformancePC. PPC site is horrendously slow and difficuylt to navigate. Much prefer FCPus simple non flashy style to OOcs fancy pics which slow things down and their search function is alo terrible ... If I use Yahoo search and type in "EK Supremacy Intel 1151 Performance PC" I get the age faster than using the on site search tool .

I'm glad they are back. They sometimes had some harder to find watercooling parts. And I never had trouble with any of my orders.

That said though, I had full-blown custom watercooling rigs for many years. But for the last couple of years I've just gone back to closed loop watercooling. Even if they aren't quite as good, they are far less hassle and lower cost for nearly the same low levels of noise and low temps. I didn't mind doing the custom build and setup, but the cost and having to maintain them was a pain. The fun of custom watercooling dwindled when I had to pull my rig and drain it, flush it, refill it adding anti-algae/corrosive, etc. every 6-12 months. There's something to be said for a closed loop system that you can just slap in and forget about.

Thankfully, that's not always true. Whether it is here remains to be seen.

No it is always true, but it is just a matter of how the person manages and controls their addiction.

I came across a case nibbler I bought years ago and couldn't remember the name of the site I bought it from... Well it was Frozen CPU..
That was a super cool site for actual DIY case mods back before companies actually made and sold window PC cases and decent water cooling units.

I miss those days but it sure is much easier now... LoL
I wish them success.

I think it's a matter of definitions. I have an addictive personality. I manage it well, and I am not an addict.

OT anyways, even if my fault.

I remember ordering some fittings and LED's back around feb 2015 and not receiving an email confirmation like I always received when my Order shipped. Then a week later I go to call the warehouse.....to def tones. Then to see on Twitter an Ex employee laying down the Truth. I had to call (at the time) my shitty credit card company and file fraud case against frozenCPU to get back my money on that order that never shipped.
That left a serious bad taste in my mouth. I'm still hesitant to give them a 2nd shot. I've been just fine with using http://www.performance-pcs.com/
They are professional and have not given me a single reason to gripe.

I had ordered stuff from Performance-PCS several times, twice in a row they screwed up the shipping or shipped half the package, both times I had to pay additional $$$ for their shipping mistakes, thats when I stopped using them. If they resort to screwing a customer over shipping costs, they just arent worth dealing with, and prolly have bigger issues.

TPU is not and has never been local to the USA... Try again. Been a "global" site since inception.
