Your model does not have the Black EQ feature, but Magic Upscale or Dynamic contrast could be causing this, if they are activated.

"SAMSUNG MAGIC Upscale function can enhance the layers of the picture details and the vividness of the picture.
The function has more obvious effects on low-resolution pictures.

This menu is not available when SAMSUNG MAGICBright is set to Cinema or Dynamic Contrast mode."

At this point, remove all codec packs you may have installed, disable hardware acceleration in your web browsers. Reinstall direct X (yes it is possible), remove your gpu driver using ddu, install latest chipset driver, install newer driver if possible for your gpu.

If this fails replace the gpu.

I didn`t touch these option, they are off. And if I turn them on, same thing, no changes in black.

First I will try with DP cable. In review that I posted on first page, that guy had problems with Nvidia GPU at 60hz with DP cable. He said that picture was flooded. At 72 everything was fine for him. For month when I buy new GPU I will reinstall windows and if that doesn`t help monitor is going on RMA service.

Googling I found some more cases like mine, I am now trying to contacting those people to see did they solve it.

Did you have this issue with the previous monitor you where using because to me this is 100% a monitor issue, GPU/Codecs are not going to cause this in fact chrome does not use any "codecs" installed on your system.
No amount of tweaking color settings or calibration reformatting or drivers is going to fix that and its not "YouTube encoding" causing it either, I bet if you look at a completely black, white and grey image you see colors that are not there the same as the monitor I had and returned.

The only suggestion I have besides getting a different monitor is making sure the color depth is set to 8 or 10 bit

Well he did try another monitor but I look at it this way until he tries everything suggested, all we can do is wait, at that point the thread will fade into oblivion

Where did I wrote that I OC my monitor??! With freesync this monitor can be set on 72hz and when freesync is off monitor frequency is 60hz.

That just looks like low quality youtube encode to me either that or you have a bad internet connection and low bandwidth

The stranger things video is a crap encode even at 1080p blacks look shocking and I have a gigabit internet connection so no bandwidth worries there

I reviewed OP's thread on Reddit already.

Realistic answers:

(1) gamma setting is too high, highlighting squares which should be visibly darker [common]
(2) crap video encoding [also common]
(3) 0-255 content crammed into 16-240, exasperating lousy encodings [also common]

Put all three together, and yeah you see blocky squares in dark areas. This is why a lot of TVs have dynamic brightness / contrast / gamma that you barely notice, but makes everything look kinda the same and okay, and you get used to it.

I always waited for video to be fully loaded, it is the always same situation. I don`t remember to find normal video on youtube and movie on my PC that doesn`t has these color banding and artifacts :(:(

1. I will buy gpu in future. I tryed with Android box, same problem.
2. I only try this video on my friend PC, he has some Samsung 22" TN monitor, more than 6+ years old (6bpc panel??). You can see comparasion above.
3. I try 3 HDMI cables, nothing helped. Whey I buy new GPU I will also buy displayport cable.

I tryed chaning all settings on my monitor, didn`t helped. I can change gamma mode, it will help very little and I will got black crush. Every settings is set on normal levels, Full RGB, 32bit, FHD, 72hz, 8bpc.

On overclock forum I found out this guy that has same problem as me, I am trying to contact him. This is his problem:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1577511/dell-s2716dg-1440-144-hz-g-sync-owners-thread/4610#post_26267788

Color banding in black and blocky artifacts.

Some guy advised him to try testing in pictures and videos in this post but below that is a comment that these video are like that because bitrate. I think he didn`t comment on these pictures.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1577511/dell-s2716dg-1440-144-hz-g-sync-owners-thread/4610#post_26267781

In those pictures he posted as test file I can see color banding and blocky artifacts.

Can you guys give me some videos/pictures to test it so we can conclude this discussion until I buy a new GPU and displayport cable? IF that doesn`t help I will have to send monitor on RMA.

Forgot to ask about those pictures for games I posted. Are those shadows normal, those shadows that look like oil stains...

Sometimes, when watching stuff on YouTube for example.

Only way to know for sure there if there is something wrong with the monitor is to check if this happens if you play a game or something of the sort (not videos).
I used to have a set of gradient images that I made specifically for testing monitors. I'll attach them when I get home if I can still dig them up.

Edit: Here you go: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11o3e4FfaU5a9yGSkriapuu6c1uKGarTk/view?usp=sharing
The images are all smooth gradients, so if you see any artifacts, you'll know it's the monitor. In addition, they go from 0 to max value for colors, so you can use them to perform some poor man's calibration of the monitor.

Dude just buy the gpu, if no fix replace the monitor. This is not rocket science here.

Until you get the gpu we cannot continue to help you as we are just spinning our wheels and wasting our time.

Remember Games are not perfect either.

If gpu doesn`t help I will send monitor on RMA. I am collecting information-stuff here for RMA service so that I can quickly show them the problem. Without proof guys from RMA can just say that they can`t see problem and return monitor to me. I know we are just spinning out wheels but if you guys gave me from beginning some materials to test than this discussion would be over a week ago:twitch:

OP, basically you are seeing limitations of 8-bit color channels. It's not worth worrying about. I see the same thing plenty of times.

In OP's pictures I can see huge banding issues, but this does not look only 8 or even 6-bit+FRC issue to me. I still think these pictures looks overly brightened, like gamma curve is totally off or something.

Here are some test pictures.

Here are what it looks like on my monitor, but it already looks brighter due to camera settings plus some reflections
.
But try to look at them from other PC or phone to actually see the difference, because you will see the same as your if your setup is bad.

edit: I would bet on monitor being bad, but to really be sure, you would need to connect it to other PC to be sure.

try a higher bitrate video Youtube is not the best thing to use for testing, their videos even at 1080p have quite low bit rates try an amazon prime video at 1080p or a video from a certain place that shall stay nameless

They seem fine?? maybe

This doesn`t prove anything because it reminds me at this problem

where one Asus model had serious color banding problem but gradient test were OK. They think that gamma is the real problem in their case.

I look these from GoT and stranger things on my mobiel phone and they seem fine. Here is mine:

Also I found some problems in games (Bioshock Infinite, Thief, Tomb raider - game menus - looks bad - big evidance if it comes to RMA):

try a higher bitrate video Youtube is not the best thing to use for testing, their videos even at 1080p have quite low bit rates try an amazon prime video at 1080p or a video from a certain place that shall stay nameless

Next thing before closing first part of this discussion will be posting picture for some bluray high quality movie.

The images I attached are all smooth gradients, those screenshots look rather bad. If it's not a camera effect, try adjusting your monitor's settings till you get a better result. Also, start with red, green and blue images, that will show each color channel individually.

Aida64 has a very nice monitor test tool built in even works in the 30 day trial which has quite a few different test screens some of which are single colour test screens

Update: I borrowed from my friend Canon camera. This is pictures from those test above including Aida64. I tried to play with every settings on monitor OSD, didn`t help. On some test pictures camera has a worse effect on pictures but those lines are visible. I also got Game of thrones epizode - 1080p - 9Gb. Quality is exellent, dark scenes are better but there is also effect like they are vibrating.

I don`t know what to upload anymore, I think that first part of this discussion is over until I buy GPU and DP cable.

Has anyone here got these games I mention post before, does your game menu looks shitty like mine?

That will take a while o_O RX 580 price are starting to raise again, Vega mid range will be released in 2H 2018?

What if I try monitor on other PC, my friend has Nvidia 8800GT, very old card. Does that matter or it is better to wait for stronger-newer GPU?
