What I don't understand is where all the low-end CPUs have gone?
Tried to get me a Celeron G3900 or G3930 for testing the new batch of motherboards, and I could only manage to find one local store that had one CPU left (and even that one was refurbished)....
The next thing I know, is I get my order confirmed, but next morning they call me on my cell and say that they are actually out.... :banghead:
The lowest thing you can get in Ukraine is either an overpriced Kaby Lake pentium, or even more overpriced Ryzen 3 1200.

Is there some kind of evil CPU-eating goblin in each and every PC parts warehouse or something?...

think about it if those cpus can still game and you're being forced to spend a minimum of 600$ US for a decent GPU you might just forgo the i5/i7 and toss in one of those and upgrade it later just to get the rig price into the affordable level.

at the same time gpu mining won't require the cpus to be that great so they buy them as well.

so "who's buying all the lowend cpus?" Everyone, Every F'ing One.

Software A lot.
Benchmark Scores Its fast. Enough.
I had close to 1200 set aside to upgrade, figured I would buy a Ryzen, board, 32GB of memory, a new midrange GPU, PSU, case, and get it ready for what my current setup does but with a 4K expansion once 1080s or Vega came down in price..... get my liquid cooling moved, change my current setup to a media, file, and other streaming machine in a smaller case.

Couldn't have been more wrong. Sure the Ryzen side was OK, as was a board, but ddr4, flash drives, GPU. I should have snapped up some memory and a graphics card in the middle of last year.

In case of G1820/G1840 - definitely yes, but I seriously doubt that our local miner-scrooges will willingly go Skylake or KabyLake route and spend almost $60+ on brand new 4GB DDR4 stick, rather than go Haswell and only spend $15 on 4GB stick of used DDR3 (or trade some empty beer bottles for 2GB stick).
And it's not like all of the sudden every single office in the country decided to upgrade their PCs...

I'm totally lost and confused.

Samsung is releasing ddr6 in 2h 2018 with an estimated increase of 30% in production capacity, lower costs and increased performance... And they claim the target is for the next round of GPUs...
I seriously hope it works out....

Maybe this will force developers to stop developing bloated unoptimized games that rely on newest hardware to push adequate frames. Software isn't really using the full potential of hardware that is out. They just keep adding in massive code libraries that fit all possible uses...vs customized code that utilizes the hardware. Of course this does allow Game developers to push out a lot more content...but I would personally rather wait for an optimized full featured game then a half baked one that barely runs.

I kinda got in an argument with ford about improving AI, but this would be just as good.

While I hate what miner are doing to us, there are other things that have a impact on the gpu prices such as Chinese Internet cafes, which buy in bulks.
Watching this video made me sad to see the empty shelves.

Prices are pretty stupid right now. You can thank miners for gpu prices forst of all. In generel hardware prices has only gone one way and thats up over the past years.

This is also one of the reasons i stick with x58, besides it still works great for my needs.

I know it's not retail market related ,but I am getting pretty sick of seeing thread after thread of mining related subject.

*Bios mods for mining
*Bad flash cuz im trying to get more $
*Mining support thread
*Anyone have a bios timing for mining , otherwise i wont stop whining.

Enough!!

I'll tell you one thing ,if you're sick of miners, and you'd like to show them, dont buy a secondhand video card over the next two-three years. if only for the reason that they're gonna look fine ,but they're going to be totally destroyed because they been running at 100% 24/7.

This site has a lot of miners, so I'm afraid we're going to have to learn to live with that. It's actually a large audience. We added the section for a reason.

Also, mining isn't very destructive anymore (like, at all honestly) and it's your loss if you don't want a cheap video card (probably going to keep mine for gaming anyways).

There's no denying it's a problem, but wishing mining away won't get us anywhere either, because the genie is out of the bottle and it isn't going back in.

We need to push hard for forced product segmentation from nvidia and AMD. Without it, you won't ever see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is.

Sooooo if I start mining with my 1080ti that I bought in April, will I magically turn mentally ill? I'm waiting for when there is a cucumber shortage because people are doing dirty things with them and the people who eat cucumbers go insane. It's a wonderful supply and demand.
Nah we would definitely have a certificate system for that, now that would be funny as ffff.

A fine example of real comedy instead of the dictator versions in this thread.

We need to push hard for forced product segmentation from nvidia and AMD. Without it, you won't ever see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm sorry, but that's just the way it is.

Well, as things usually go, the pendulum will likely swing the other way. It happened before not long after the 290x came out, prices doubled, then 6 months later they were selling for half price.

With the huge uptick in Eutherium, this ain't going away until something changes on that front. Until then, this be us:

This site has a lot of miners, so I'm afraid we're going to have to learn to live with that. It's actually a large audience. We added the section for a reason.

Also, mining isn't very destructive anymore (like, at all honestly) and it's your loss if you don't want a cheap video card (probably going to keep mine for gaming anyways).

Nah, its not my loss. There are VERY few situations where i would buy a used component, as i find that sellers often sell for what they feel an item is worth to them ,and not what it is worth to the market/buyer. If an item is opened for example, it is used, it doesnt make a difference if it was opened for a minute, or an hour, it doesnt matter i f it was used for a day or a year (& a retail box doesnt "add value" unless the buyer is delusional), as there is no way to confirm what the seller is claiming , so therefore a (smart) buyer MUST assume the worst, unless they are well acquainted with the seller. There are 2 people i would give the benefit of the doubt, who i feel list items at fair market price, other than those people, the rest can sell to others.

I personally, am agitated with the depletion of components becasue I would like to build a new PC for a family member , but cannot , since the skyrocketing prices have pushed the price tag FAR out of my "financial reach". So , I suggest , if anyone else is in a similar situation, they use theyre dollars to show those responsible it isnt cool, by letting them work harder to sell those components (while keeping in mind , the sale of these components is morally scummy in my opinion, as these GPU's arent like normal gaming GPU's, as they have earned theyre retail cost multiple times over, and the seller trying to once again, reclaim MORE money (above the generated income from mining) is pretty sh!tty IMO.

I have no issue with greed, i have no issue with people earning a buck,

im not saying the numbers are exact, but for example:
when someone buys a GPU for $500, runs it for a year, earns $1000 on it,and then turns around and tries to sell it for $400 is like the used component version of Dice/EA with Battlefield, and not buying that GPU isnt me losing out, nor is any other perspective buyer, if they avoid that seller, or atleast that component. there are plenty of fish in the sea, buy from a person who didnt ride it hard and put it away wet, or didnt earn its worth multiple times over ,than try to sell it like its a normal GPU.

Since the membership is so large, it would be great if there was a place for them to post till theyre hearts content, without drowning out other non mining topics? Id REALLY love it if there was a mining specific FS/BST location separate fro mthe normal one. plus it would help those of us not involved in mining having to constantly point those with bricked GPU bios' to the mining help section.

these are just my opinions, and arent an attack, just what i feel. I understand there are multiple variables at work that cause the current market situation. I personally know people who actively mine ,and I have no problem with them or the others I don't know. I'm just sick and tired of the consumer who doesn't mine footing the bill or going without ,because in the end the miners earn extra money ,so they can afford the inflated price ,the people losing out right now (until the market adjusts) are those of us who don't mine, and that just doesn't seem fair in my opinion( not that I think fairness is a given right, but again I've used the words moral, and opinion ,enough times to make it clear these arent facts ,but rather my viewpoint)
