 If you're willing to buy an entire pallet, and not hunting by models, as most gamers do.

I still have been. I still have notifications set on the Newegg app.

 If you're willing to buy an entire pallet, and not hunting by models, as most gamers do.

Most of us with full scale lives and responsibilities just a few years from retirement don't have that luxury of ordering a pallet, or even 40% markups on singles, when you can actually find one you are looking for in stock for 5 minutes.

If you dedicate a day, you can get singles at MSRP as well.

No, not ideal, but just saying there are ways.

I still have been. I still have notifications set on the Newegg app.

How I got my experimental mining article ones at MSRP was partially this, partially buying a series gamers don't care about (EVGA FTW2 DT's in this case. Essentially reference clock boards in a fancy cooler).

Use newegg notifications. It can and will save your bacon.

Hell I just bought my 1070 new last month from Best Buy for just over $400 (an actual fair price IMHO). You have to look for the sales and be ready to jump when you find them. In all honestly, because of the pricing, I'm seriously considering posting my 1070 up on craigslist for $700 and see what I get offered. If someone wants it enough, they can get it.

If I wasn't such a good journalist, I could sell both my 1080s for double now, and quit my present article deal with a simple "Forget mining, hoard GPUs" headline.

I won't of course. But if I was an asshole, I totally would.

Tired of the victim mentality. If you need a card buy one. It just takes a little bit extra effort now. I got an offer to purchase >400 GPU's at a price that is acceptable. All Zotac new in box with warranty.

What if you just want one card? Also, it seems to be a highly localized problem. In Sweden it's the stocks that is the problem afaik.

Why would that make you an asshole? I say do eeeet.

but when the scan shelves empty as i am sure they will at the current in the circumstances "reasonable" prices.. ebay will take over.. ebay is a true free market scenario..

The Article is not a Failure
its a perspective from Some one that gives an insight into mining and as Such how can that be considered a failure

Depends on your defintion of failure. It has quite the read count. And unless you can honestly point out a bad decision... no I'm calling it a success.

I have no guilt by the way... why should I? I like crypto in general principle.

Microcenter :) My local one is charging the same. However what they are doing is this "BYO discount" where they have a chart they are following to give flat discounts on top of the 1500 to start bringing it down. I went in yesterday to pick up a 1080ti strix ($1500), but also wanted to get a MB and CPU. CPU seemed to discount 0, and MB discoutned $300 leaving the card still at $1200, no way. They really want the customers buying a case, PSU, storage, MB, RAM, and CPU, THEN the GPU. I ended up buying nothing.

@cdawall , hook me up with some of this black magic lol. I have been watching newegg and amazon like a hawk, and literally as soon as I refresh the page and there is one for anywhere near MSRP, by the time I have it in my cart and hit the complete sale button, it's out of stock. Been doing it for a week now. Of course I have notifications, but that doesn't even get me onto the site before they're sold out. I've been trying to get a 1070 for a couple of weeks now. They sell out literally faster than I can make three clicks.

At this point I may as well wait for Volta and grab one of those before I could ever grab a 1080TI STRIX.

Typically they last 10-15 minutes a batch. Keep an eye on bestbuy as well they had 1080 FE cards in stock for $589.99 today.

New theory, this is a good thing.
If no-one can buy high end cards, game developers will have to code properly like they haven't in decades. We'll see some great Vulkan optimizations, giving excellent quality on IGPs.

The only ones defending all this bullshit are those who sell and make big money on it.
That alone itself wouldn't be annoying, but thinking everyone else is stupid with comments like: "I can order an entire pallet of Zotac 1080Ti's right about MSRP. Look harder." is really annoying.
If you are profiting with this, then shut up and enjoy. Do you really think a regular gamer is looking to buy an entire pallet?
