Hello TPU system Fiends,

here is what i am wondering. At my current system build i have 0 issues in doing any task or playing any game. Maybe its just me but should i consider upgrading or waiting it out. I can currently allocate 600 us budget if i need to upgrade to something better. What troubles me lately when i looked was the RAM prices. Holy crap they have went through the roof. Suggestions, comments would be greatly appreciated.

You're answering your own question in the OP. Prices are high. Your rig is sufficient.

Besides with that CPU/board your only sensible path forward for gaming at least is an 8600k/8700k @ 4.7 or better. That won't happen for 600 bucks (if you include all the other stuff such as cooling, and getting your 32GB DDR4 back that you have now), I'd reckon you'll end up at 2x the amount.

EDIT: just noticed you have a 1080. But still. Invest the 600 in a higher res monitor (1440p for example) and your CPU is sufficient while that GPU will be very busy. You can alleviate a 'bottleneck' that way and your rig will be running at full capacity compared to 1080p, where you probably do encounter CPU limitations right now above 60 fps.

EDIT2: didn't even read entire sys specs... you have the 1440p already :D Then you're really out of options here

It was more of a confusion since ive been sitting on this rig for maybe quite a bit and lets just say the itch came to be. So being so out of the game in following CPU architecture and performance i was not sure if its worth to upgrade Motherboard, RAM, CPU or do a major overhaul. So i came here looking for an opinion from people that follow the tech changes.

I know how it feels... I recently upgraded from Ivy Bridge > Coffee Lake. I had only one reason to do this - high refresh rate gaming ie 120 fps / 1080p. For 60 fps, there really isn't any point.

I know the itch. However, as you stated, your system does everything you want it to do well right now. I would enjoy it and wait things out until A) your system can't do what you want it to do, and B) prices come down on RAM.

I feel your pain, brother. Every time I read about the latest/greatest hardware, I get the upgrade itch. But, the problem is, I already have a faster system than I really need, and I spent too much on it (over $3000 if you add up all the peripherals, drives and fans). When I have the spare cash, it's very tempting to blow it on my hobby. For a few years I indulged the itch by building systems for resale to friends, but I only made back parts costs, and now that market is fully saturated. So my advice is to hold your cash, wait out these dark times, and upgrade in a year or two, when there's (hopefully) a good reason to do so (like mainstream Intel 8-core CPUs, cheap RAM, coin mining outlawed or unprofitable, and much cheaper/faster SSDs). Hang in there, it has to get better eventually...
