Developer Gem Rose Accent will reward the first player to beat their new puzzle game with a Bitcoin, which is worth $11,669.97 at the time of this post. In MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma, players must navigate through a very complicated maze from a first-person perspective and solve the 24 puzzles to finish the game. Players also have the option form a group with other players to solve the different puzzles. MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma is available on Steam for $1.99, but you can purchase it for introductory price of $1.19. According to the developer, MonteCrypto: The Bitcoin Enigma will easily be one of the hardest game you will ever play. Will you take up their challenge?

Nope on so many levels.
well ... that "reward" is kinda weak ... and unstable, not much of a reward in spite of the high current price of that "currency"

In other words, they will pay hackers to "solve" their game?

You know they will do that instead of playing it.

I bet the game is mining crpyto coins in the background as you play it... anyone checked it what it's doing? You know, looks a bit fishy given its price and the connections and how they promote it (the currency used)...

What I heard is, that this is actually a distributed encryption cracker by NSA. They cleverly use Bitcoins popularity to promote and massively sell this game. As soon as the network reaches 10000 nodes, the master server will start streaming encrypted content to the clients (as per system requirements, you need Broadband Internet connection). The game will then cleverly balance the cracking/rendering load on your GPU during gameplay, so you will never notice a thing.

What I have also heard, that you can secure yourself by wearing a tinfoil hat during gameplay.

This information above is 100% accurate and I'm writing this on my alt account, because I don't want to get in trouble.

It's just a matter of time until games are mining on the gpu while you play since it'll be hard to spot, if it's not already happening. Talk about motivation to tune your gpu to run as efficiently as possible (lower voltage and frequency).

However I could see mining-while-gaming become a new method of Free-To-Play.

Offer the game for free, but with mining; and then offer a $30 package to unlock extra content and a defacto 30% performance increase. It would actually be an incredibly good way to make it so people could try a game before they commit to buy it.

People are so negative on the idea that I don't see it taking off, unfortunately.

I don't see it happening in the near future, but eventually I think people will come to accept mining-for-services. There is just SO MUCH latent processing power the world could be putting to good use, and people will eventually stop demonizing crypto so much when it is truly mainstream.

For instance I cannot believe the vitriol some people show to websites considering background mining over ads. I would GLADLY allow low-intensity background mining if it means I could use the internet devoid of ads.

There is just SO MUCH latent processing power the world could be putting to good use.

There is the assumption that mining is a good use of that processing power, but apart from the fact that by some very speculative causes you can gain some very unstable -but at the moment very highly priced- currency, the process itself is pretty much useless. Except if some of the mining processes are realy do secretly decrypting highly encripted data in which case it is not useless but dangerous.

If you really want to make a use of that power then join one of the scientific platfors whom existed way before mining. No money will be awarded, but you will have the thought of doing somethig usefull with your latent compute power....

It can be used to fund various things you support though. There is absolutely no reason it couldn't be.

I'm not even going to comment on the patently and provably false idea that crypto is any kind of botnet.

No money will be awarded

Which is precisely why this may be more useless to the organizations in question than say, mining...

It amazes me how much ignorance there is around the matter of cryptocurrencies, so much more in a forum like this, that is supposed to be frequented by people that are relatively tech savvy.
Reading some of the responses it seems that cryptocurrency are some obsure and evil thing used by illuminati forces to control the world...

LOL you just said: "$12,000 is not a large reward for beating a $2 game." I disagree.
nah, i said "a bitcoin" not the "worth" of it ... :p (tho worth is subjective .... imagine you want to pay something from me that cost 12k $ and ask to pay in BTC, to what i would hypothetically answer, "sorry i don't accept BTC, they have no worth for me")

Reading some of the responses it seems that cryptocurrency are some obsure and evil thing used by illuminati forces to control the world...
oh no worries they are not, thought they can be used in ilegal or shady transaction and, their mean of creation is a powersink (some countries are taking measure against the rise in power consumption due to mining.) ohhhh some will write/say "gaming is also a powersink" tho ... i'd rather play a game (interactively) than watch a mining rig using power to create "money" out of "nowhere" using electricity that does not come out of nowhere, well in a region with a lot of hydroelectric installation it's less an issue eh? I live in such a region ... but electricity isn't cheap, for a reason, and i don't feel to steal outside of my own power network to achieve a profit, like some miner i know (not those on the forum ofc ... i would assume that behavior is not one of their, hopefully ), luckily they are not in the same area as me.

if some are evangelising BTC some have the right to demonise them, right? No ignorance either, after all cryptocurrencies are cryptic ... in many ways.

although i am neither an evangelist nor i demonise them, i just see no value in them.

I have spent some time reading about this trend/phenomena/whatever-you-call-it. I highly doubt every single miner can answer what exactly is his machine computing or even who created the particular algorithm he/she is using right now. What the mass of people actually doesn't know in my humble opinion is what a blockhain is, and why it is important and useful. Only then you can make a difference between blockchain and crypto currency and form an adequate stance on the matter. I can ask anyone on the street for these two and I am sure I won't get a clear answer.

So sell the bitcoin for 11000+ dollars.

That is kind of exactly what he was saying: a tech savy forum should do their homework before judging. Sadly, few do.
