AMD is partnering with Ubisoft to give away free copies of Far Cry 5 to consumers who buy a pre-built system powered by a Radeon RX Vega 64, RX Vega 56 or Radeon RX 580 graphics card. Upon purchase, the consumer receives a coupon code to redeem the digital copy at the AMD Rewards website. The coupon code is for the Standard Edition of Far Cry 5 which can be downloaded afterwards through Ubisoft's Uplay client. The promotion began on February 27, 2018 and will end on May 20, 2018. Do note that codes are available while supply lasts. Although the promotion is open worldwide, consumers must purchase the pre-built system from a participating vendor.

No thanks. My very first rig was pre-built and never went that route again. Aside from saving money, you will always get the best quality for at least the same price when building your own.

Even if we don't save money on the front end quite like we used to, we will on the back end as well as frustration.

When you build yourself, your rig is rock solid in stability; at least mine is. All of my rigs run for years. I don't end up spending money again for replacement parts and then spending more time to replace and install.

Building your own rig will always be the best way to go since you have your absolute best interests in mind.

Funny thing is... getting a bundle is probably cheaper then buying a video card outright in most cases.

So you are saying you get the exact model, thus quality for every part in a pre-built? I doubt it.

I'll agree that they are fine for decent/good levels of quality especially compared to what they used to offer, but still can't match hand-picked components. Fine in this case means good enough which I've never subscribed to in life for anything.

Pfft why just pre-builds? why not on the same lineup of cards on their own? another idea AMD (and you NV) stop over overpricing your bloody cards and making it nigh on impossible for a lot of people to upgrade. Some may argue it's not AMD or NV but I am damn sure they will be getting their peice of the pie during this mining craze BS. Otherwise sort your bloody distribution channels out and start imposing penalties for shady practices and making it easier for everyday people to get hold of GPU's at (fairly) respectable prices. It's not rocket science.

It depends on your budget. The higher the budget the better to build (very generally).

the lower... it's really tough to beat this:

No thanks. My very first rig was pre-built and never went that route again. Aside from saving money, you will always get the best quality for at least the same price when building your own.

Not to mention better specs and looks.

I just built a new rig this week, still waiting on GPU to arrive.

$329 i7-8700k
(re-used my old Noctua NH-D14 after a liquid metal delid)
$187 2x8gb ddr4 3200 cas 14-14-14-31
$99 mobo MSI Z370 SLI plus after rebate
power supply re-used from old rig
new case: thermatake view 22 $59 with two tempered real glass tinted side panels (its gorgeous, no RGB, just sold very dark purple and dark pink glowing fans)
sadly the 1080 ti cost me $809 + tax but free ship... still not too bad over MSRP, so meh. it should be here in a week or two.

i feel like i am missing something... oh well. you get my point.

but yeah every prebuilt i have seen even from cyberpower or somewhere big like that just they def skimp on certain parts that matter. thats for sure.

i also got my monitor on a decent deal, $549.99 free ship. 3440x1440 120hz VA panel new from Acer just came out a couple weeks ago. wish it had gsync, but I am not paying $400 more for freesync, thats just absurd. i will put it on fast sync globally and hope for the best, and maybe I get lucky and get a Vega 2 next year on launch day for MSRP, but if not i can just keep this card, but if i do get lucky order in, i will just sell the 1080 ti and enable freesync on it while leaving rest of build the same.

It depends on your budget. The higher the budget the better to build (very generally).

the lower... it's really tough to beat this:

yeah you win on low end builds def. thats a solid deal. at that point i'd rather just buy an xbox one and rent games and play them on my dads big screen 4k HDR tv though, PC gaming is unique because high refresh and ultrawide. that immersion factor is key for me. this is an Art form, the games we play are Art (some anyway)... well yeah.
