Today, Ubisoft announced that The Crew 2, the newest iteration in the revolutionary open world driving franchise The Crew, will launch on June 29th, 2018, for PlayStation4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices and Windows PC. In addition, The Crew 2 has been enhanced with additional features for PS4 Pro systems.

Developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower, a studio based in Lyon, France, The Crew 2 will let players experience the thrill of American motorsports inside a fully redesigned USA. The game's playground pushes physical boundaries to let driving and open world fans test their skills, solo or with friends, in nonstop competition and exploration. From coast to coast, drivers will explore America and compete to become the greatest motorsports champion, by collecting a wide variety of exotic cars, bikes, boats and planes, and dominating the motorsports scene on the land, on the water and in the air. Players will find challenges and inspiration among four different motorsports families: street racing, off-road, pro racing and freestyle, and will be given a broad set of options among a wide selection of vehicle types.

Ubisoft also unveiled The Crew 2 Motor Edition, that lets players get the game three days early, allowing them to gear up before their competition on June 26th, 2018. Now available on the Ubisoft Store, this exclusive edition gives players the most advanced motorsports experience. The Motor Edition also includes:
  • The Crew 2 Gold Edition and season pass, letting players enjoy new vehicles, outfits, additional content and much more
  • The Motorsports Deluxe Pack, which includes unique outfits and vehicles, including the FORD F-150 RAPTOR RACE TRUCK 2017, PILATUS PC-21 AIR RACE EDITION 2002 Plane and the ABARTH 500 MONSTER TRUCK EDITION 2008
  • A customized American The Crew 2 license plate that comes in a high-quality collector box, an exclusive Steelbook, the official Roadmap of the game and four original stickers

Players who pre-order the game will receive The Crew 2 Legendary Motors Pack, which includes exclusive vehicles such as the Mercedes-AMG C 63 Touring Car 2016 and the HARLEY-DAVIDSON IRON 883TM 2017.

Players can start their in-game vehicle collection right now with The Crew Rewards Program. By completing a series of monthly challenges in the first instalment of The Crew, players can unlock up to 19 vehicles in The Crew 2, including exclusive water vehicles. As always with Ubisoft. pictures and current video footage does not represent actual gameplay or graphical fidelity of the game (If any)

Ubisoft will downgrade the graphics before they launch the game

I tried The Crew 1 on a free weekend once. Worst AAA racing game I have ever played.

I had the same reaction to The Crew 2's announcement as I did to The Division 2..why another one?

Is this Ubisoft's version of Need for Speed?

No, it's Ubisoft's verion of Test Drive: Unlimited. IgoryTower is literally ex Eden Games, creators of TDU. Unfortunately Ubi is as much greedy as Atari was, ruining what could be a great game. The only solace is that TDU gave birth to Forza Horizon by showing the need of such open-world racing coolness.

Indeed. I had the opportunity to try the closed alpha at one of my friends and it's graphically a piece of crap. 30 or 60fps cap, poor quality texturesm etc...

I had shittons of time in TDU and TDU2, both were buggy and unfinished, full of missing features, and messed up ones whose worked perfectly in the previous game. The Crew topped that by far. Useless, badly done eyecandy features, meaningless, nonsense tuning system, literally '90s rearview mirrors (C2 does made some improvements on that, but still useless), and so on...

We already had open world racing right? Done by more than one NFS. Which really is a way better series, even if made by EA and pure arcade. The Crew was the biggest pile of shit I have played in recent years.

Gonna have to agree to disagree on that point. I can't stand any of the new NFS games but I put >100 hours into The Crew. What makes The Crew fantastic is the ability to drop in and drop out with other players. Less than 1% of the game has to be done single player.

At least The Crew doesn't literally have an in-game casino like TDU2 did.

A friend and I got The Crew when they offered it for free and we both woulnd up putting over 100 hours into it as well, even grabbing the DLCs. Like you said, the best part about it was being able to drop in and out at any time and playing almost the whole game with other people. As an arcade-racer, it was a ton of fun. I'll most likely grab The Crew 2 at some point.

As for Need for Speed, the last one I really enjoyed was Most Wanted (2012). Since then they've made questionable decisions which each new iteration, like tying upgrades to "speed cards" or capping the game at 30fps like in Rivals (and tying the physics engine to it...ugh).

But hey, it's super duper cool to hate on anything made by Ubisoft or EA...

AFAIK, there were no open-world racing bevore TDU, and the only semi-sim on that matter is Forza. NFS is pure arcade since years and TheCrew is way too off the sim line to be enjoyable. It is literally ridiculous in many occasions.
