ASUS has announced Lyra Trio, a dual-band, three-hub mesh Wi-Fi system designed to deliver fast, secure and easy Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the home. Featuring high-bandwidth 3x3 MIMO technology for faster hub-to-hub communication and a unique pyramid antenna design that transmits the Wi-Fi signal vertically as well as horizontally for better reception across floors, Lyra Trio delivers ultrafast AC1750 Wi-Fi speeds in single and multi-story homes of up to 5400 square feet.

Lyra Trio provides always up-to-date protection with one-click firmware updates and AiProtection Classic cloud-based security powered by Trend Micro . These comprehensive security features safeguard online privacy and protect against internet threats for all devices connected to the network, even devices that do not have or are unable to run antivirus software - such as connected smart home devices. It also includes parental controls that can be configured with a smartphone to let parents easily manage the amount of time their children spend online.

Lyra Trio is simple to set up and manage. The intuitive ASUS Lyra mobile app guides users step by step through the process of creating their Wi-Fi network, and provides notifications and troubleshooting information in the event of a network problem.

Fast and smooth Wi-Fi connections
ASUS Lyra Trio delivers AC1750 Wi-Fi speeds to every corner of the home - even in multi-story homes of up to 5400 square feet - so users can enjoy a smooth and seamless connection with sufficient bandwidth for video streaming and gaming. A 3x3 MIMO antenna design provides an additional spatial stream compared to 2x2 mesh Wi-Fi systems, allowing Lyra Trio to handle more network traffic simultaneously - perfect for modern households that have multiple wireless devices. The 3x3 MIMO antenna design also maximises the speed at which data hops from hub to hub, ensuring users get a fast, seamless connection anywhere in the home.

The antennas on Lyra Trio have a unique pyramid configuration to transmit the Wi-Fi signal vertically as well as horizontally for better reception and performance across floors. This design also positions the antennas above the circuit board and angles them at 45 degrees to ensure minimal interference for the best possible Wi-Fi signal.

Always up-to-date security
ASUS Lyra Trio has comprehensive yet easy-to-use security features that protect all devices connected to the network, even smart home (IoT) appliances. Modern internet threats exist that can secretly compromise privacy and steal financial information. To guard against these threats, Lyra Trio features AiProtection Classic cloud-based security powered by Trend Micro . Lyra Trio syncs with the comprehensive Trend Micro database of malicious sites and servers, enabling it to quickly detect online threats and block connections to these dangerous sources without any action required by the user. If an infected device happens to connect to the network, Lyra Trio will protect the private data on that device as well as the data of other connected devices against compromise.

In addition to its automatic security features, Lyra Trio also features built-in parental controls that let users manage children's screen time with internet restrictions that activate at designated times. Whether it is study time or bedtime, recurring schedules help keep children focused and develop responsible behavior.

To keep the network running securely and ensure connected devices are always protected, Lyra Trio receives automatic firmware updates that users can install with one click. Unlike other routers that charge additional fees or provide protection for a limited time only, Lyra Trio will receive security updates for the life of the product.

Wi-Fi made easy
ASUS Lyra Trio makes setting up and managing a Wi-Fi network simple. To get started, users just need to plug in Lyra Trio and then download the ASUS Lyra mobile app to their smartphone. The intuitive app guides users step by step through the setup process and provides easy-to-use management and diagnostics features once the network is up and running.

If there is a problem with the network, the ASUS Lyra app will notify users right away. A handy network map helps users pinpoint and rectify the issue, so they can get back online as quickly as possible.

Well, they'd already paid for the plastics moulds, so why not reuse them? :p

Not bad from a deployment point of view. Like if the boss needs WiFi at their personal house, or you're Geek Squad (easy up-sell items), or you're the person that helps out helpless friends and family, or perhaps a housing contractor (more up-sells). How quickly can I get this product in and get myself out becomes an important feature.

The colors are ok for common areas of the house, but they should have just stuck with plain white. I hope someone reviews this.

Anything with many antennas on it will end up looking like a spaceship/upside down spider. It's just the nature of the thing.

As for why they dont just make it a square box. It's probably to save space(for the consumer). And since most routers work better out in the open, rather than in a closet, they have to come up with some kind of appealing/anonymous design.
I personally wouldnt think these would stick out if placed on a shelf or corner table. which makes them nice.
