ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced the Zephyrus M, the world's slimmest gaming laptop to be powered by up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 processor and full-powered NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. The Zephyrus M features an IPS-level display with a superfast 144Hz refresh rate, lightning-quick 3ms response time, and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology. It also features the new Active Aerodynamic System (AAS) to improve cooling performance under high load. ROG-exclusive software lets gamers switch between integrated and discrete GPU modes: the Optimus power-saving mode prolongs battery life, while the G-SYNC mode synchronizes frame delivery for smoother gameplay without tearing.

Elevating gaming performance to new heights
The ROG Zephyrus M brings gaming-desktop levels of performance to the gaming laptop scene, with up to an 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H processor with 16GB of DDR4 2666MHz dual-channel memory, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. It also features cutting-edge storage with a 256GB M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 x4 SSD and an additional 1TB Seagate FireCuda SSHD storage drive.

Super smooth, seamless visuals
The Zephyrus M features an ultra-responsive 15.6-inch IPS-level display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and NVIDIA G-SYNC technology for super smooth, seamless visuals. A wide 72% NTSC color gamut guarantees great color contrast and color reproduction, while wide-view technology ensures colors stay true, even when viewed from angles of up to 178°.

ROG Active Aerodynamic System (AAS)
The cutting-edge AAS allows the Zephyrus M to run cool and quiet without sacrificing performance. Much like the first Zephyrus (GX501), when opening the lid a portion of the bottom chassis flexes 9mm high to increase airflow. Compared to traditional laptop designs, the AAS creates 20% more space for air circulation, increases airflow by up to 32%, and reduces internal temperatures by up to 20%.

A four-quadrant anti-dust design prevents dust particles and dirt from entering the system when the lid is open; while the patented Anti-Dust Cooling system actively expels dust particles and dirt through tunnels to prevent build-up in the thermal fins to increase system stability and lifespan. Two high-performance dual-outlet fans blow air through ultra-slim fins, while the unique heat-pipe architecture cools the CPU, GPU, and power components independently.

Switchable GPU software
The Zephyrus M features the world's first switchable GPU modes so gamers can choose between power-saving or G-SYNC. The Optimus power-saving mode enables the laptop to run on integrated graphics, using the discrete GPU only when needed, and prolonging battery life to provide up to six hours of web-browsing time over Wi-Fi. G-SYNC mode allows gamers to get the most out of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics by matching the refresh rate of the display with the frame rate of the discrete GPU to deliver a smooth gaming experience with less stuttering, reduced input lag, and no tearing. Both modes can be easily accessed on the ROG Gaming Center dashboard.

Synchronized Aura lighting
Aura Sync lets gamers customize and sync up light effects with Aura Sync-enabled gaming mice, headsets, keyboards and other peripherals. Aura Sync offers several unique preset lighting modes, including color cycle, music synchronization, and CPU temperature. It can even be programmed with personalized color schemes.

AVAILABILITY & PRICING
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus M (GM501) will be available for pre-order starting April 3rd in the United States at retailers including: the ASUS Store, Amazon, Newegg, B&H, NFM, ExcaliberPC, MobileAdvance, iBuyPower, XoticPC, HIDEvolution, Adorama, and BestBuy.com.

So they are acknowledging the flaws of thin laptops for gaming by making one that increases internal area when open.
What's next, a full on retro version made of timber and canvas that expands concertina style?
