NVIDIA today released the GeForce 397.55 Hotfix drivers to address various issues that many users have been experiencing. Primarily, the drivers fix the pesky problem where a few GTX 1060 models would throw up a Code 43 error in Device Manager after driver installation putting users' systems into an endless restart loop. The new drivers also contain fixes for occasional Netflix playback stuttering and the display driver being removed when a system has been idling during an extended period of time. Lastly, NVIDIA added support for Microsoft Surface Book notebooks.

Thank god. My GTX 1060 has been stuttering once every 5 mins until I Alt+Tab since the latest drivers dropped.

you would think NVidia would slow down take a step back and concentrate on a solid stable driver instead shooting them out one after the other . I guess the joke said now is NVidia seems to break as much as they try to fix in each driver release .

Interesting, you know my laptop with a GTX1050 has been randomly blue-screening in the middle of the night when I leave it sit ever since I installed these drivers. I wonder if this is related.

then there you go with another that malware service called win-10

'' Windows 10: Driver may get removed after PC has been left idle for an extended period of time. ''

it was hard enough for them to deal with a real OS' now 10 is too much to keep up with as intrusive and ever changing with its forced updating and forced drivers like in a article just this week on that new release of 10 how guys said there settings got changed to on or auto behind there backs ? see you aint got a clue every time you go on line with it what Microsoft got going on under your nose .

no way in h311 I could ever trust it [I don't even trust them with 7 anymore in some time now ]

you personal computer is now there public computer as they see fit to be in use . I'd have to really hate someone's guts to recommend 10 to use . its bad news when you take a good look under its rug [opinion]

they say here '' The fix applies to Windows 7/8 also but the side effect was different. '' but not explained that I can find so far maybe just saying that to not make 10 look so bad

notice in the latest drivers release notes there plenty of win 10 issues and fix but under win-7 issues and fix blank space ? ya .....

I absolutely hate Windows 10 dicking around with drivers. I've had countless times when Windows 10 just on its own decided to downgrade a driver for no god damn logical reason. It just blinks the screen randomly at some point and reinstalls some old driver from Windows Update. I had this nonsense on AMD APU based laptop non stop and also on desktop. It's so infuriatingly stupid aaaargh. If there is no driver installed, be my guest, install it. But if user installs own driver, get your dirty paws away from it Microsoft. You get it?

LOL.. that's there to satisfy you . that means nothing to win-10 and Microsoft . . they turn what ever on anytime they want . everytime you go online your system and privacy is at risk . why do you think Microsoft stopped real updating and replaced that with them ''rollover'' updating you have to take them all and cant decline any you don't want or need now ?? that now insures there crap in on your drive the good the bad and the ugly. you should read your eula on that what you think you decline and see its just postponing - in the end you will take them one way or another .

''If you're running Windows 10 Home, there is no supported way to delay the installation of updates. When a feature update is available, it will install in the next window outside Active Hours. You can try various workarounds, such as shutting off the Windows Update service or setting your network connection as metered, but these only briefly postpone the inevitable.''

''In Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions, you can defer feature updates for up to 16 months after their initial release to the Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted). In addition, you can defer quality updates, including the monthly Patch Tuesday fixes, by up to 30 days.''

One of the most important changes in Windows 10 is its approach to updates. Security and reliability updates are now delivered as cumulative updates rather than individually, and you can't refuse an update (although you can defer updates).

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...t-a-driver-update-from-reinstalling-in-window

key wording is '' temporarily ''

the malware service called windows 10 . that's all there is to it

enjoy

I had the same issue with GPU drivers updating automatically, but apparently geforce experience overwrtites system settings. You don't get auto updates if gf experience is running, you get a notification but you don't have to update.

397.55 seems to be working fine,my system didn't explode. I think I see a vague pattern, first revision of every new "node" of driver (like 397.xx) apparently has some bugs, you need to wait for next revisions from the same node (like 397.55 after 397.31) to have hose fixed.

If you never install it, how do you have problems ?
I've been using gf experience for quite some time, I don't know how it can be problamatic. All it does is set optimized settings for your system, which you don't have to apply, and tells you about driver updates, which you don't have to install.
You use a tinfoil hat on your PC against those "gimmickware" programs too ?

I know about it from day ONE and I also know it doesn't work from day ONE. I've set this and Windows still fucked everything up on my laptop and also on desktop.

Indeed, it does not work. But there are registry keys that do. And minus feature updates, no, ms can't turn them off.

Can anyone friggin tell me about the driver instead of this dumb bickering ?
Okay,installing, here it goes.....

Indeed, coonbro seems to froth at the mouth offtopic anytime the string "Windows 10" appears.

If it's a switch used by Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU), then I can also tell you that it doesn't work. I've tried that as well and Windows downgraded my drivers on its own every time.

No, it's this key. Try it.

Note that importing random registry keys random internet frogs encourage you to try is not a best practice, so you may want to open it with a text editor first just in case. It's harmless though and works. ;)
