Just out of curiosity, can i just flash the BIOS with the x800XT bios and see if it works??? If it is the wrong core, what will happen? Lol I don't have any thermal grease.....

if its the wrong core you could fry the card (ive done it first hand so dont think im kidding )

did you find that out by looking at the core its self or from a program?

btw do you have a pci vid card cause to make this work we are gonna have to bad flash your card with a ddr3 bios temporarly lol

Ok, i went and bought a new cooler and some thermal paste. The core is a R423.... I put the grease and the cooler on. So now what?

Doesn't look like it but it should flash to a x850xtpe (the ram might not run that fast without better cooling though. or you may hav 2.0ns ram that wont at all )

Is it because there are E's there? It has the 480 core, just like the GTO2. What do you mean when you say it should be able to be flashed to an x850 xt pe? Should I just flash it with that bios?

if a f isnt there then its bad

if you want you can flash to a xtpe but overclocking will give you the same performance gain

btw you aren't going to be able to get those pipes acording to that they are locked perminatly

rare thing is... this thing came witouth a box and witouth manual, seems a OEM version.. I think they removed the box in the shop because they already offered the flashed versions.

you aren't making sense....

steps:
flash to x800xt (pci-e) ddr3 with moded flashrom
flash back to origional bios with unmoded flashrom. (using a pci vid card to see the screen.)
that should give you the pipes.

yesterday my new Sapphire x800 gto² arrived. After installing all drivers and stuff I tried to unlock from 12pp to 16pp. I followed every step showed at http://www.techpowerup.com/articles//overclocking/vidcard/127/1

After flashing the bios (worked only with the -f parameter) and rebooting the card didn't work. Thank god, that i burned the original bios on the boot-cd too (I blindly typed the parameters )

If you have any idea, how my card will work with the 16pp please post it.

Edit: I actually tried it with a other .bin from a german site (think it's the same only with other name, has the same size). Here it worked without the -f parameter but card still doesn't work with this bios.

Edit no.2: Now I used a standard x850xt bios, and it worked (only turned off Vivo support with rabit). What is the critical temperature for the sapphire x800gto²? In idle my card has now 35° C (30° C with gto² bios). I did the HL²stress test, the temperature goes up to 50° (think thats no problem, but the stress test is very short.. what about long term usage?)

Hey man, you are lucky, your card is unlockable . Just find a better BIOS that is suitable for your video card parametres (memory type, speed(ns), amount).
Try to run Artifact scan for a least two hours. Then you can be sure that the card is stable at these clocks. Temperatures around 50°C are OK and do not short the life of your card
But you can buy a better cooler to get more speed, lower temps and lower noise.

I've bought the Arctic Cooling ATI Silencer 5 Rev.2.. think this will work a long time =)

but i'm still looking for a better bios.. when i scan for artifacts the test freezes my computer after 5 mins or so.. but no artifacts were found. After this I used ATI-tool to slow down ram and gpu frequenzy. So i'm still looking for the perfect bios.

If anyone has "THE" bios for the gto² plz post it .
