This news post really does serve as a symbolic gesture for the state of the GPU market in the last months (going on to a year now, really). Mainly due to increased demand from crypto users looking to farm and mine their way to financial security and shortages of GPUs, the time to buy a new or even second-hand, latest generation graphics card hasn't been the best. However, now, we're seeing something that wasn't seen for a long time: actual decent pricing in graphics cards. It's still a process, but in that process, this Gigabyte AORUS RX 580 deal at Amazon is the proverbial pin in a haystack.

The Gigabyte AORUS Radeon RX 580 8GB (GV-RX580AORUS-8GD) is available now from Amazon for $209.99 (after a $20 mail-in rebate). If you're in the states and looking for a graphics card that guarantees 1080p performance at max settings, or a decent 1440p experience with somewhat reduced IQ, this could be the graphics card for you - and judging by its Best Seller status, it may very well be the same for many other customers. And for now, there's even stock - how about that. If you're shopping from outside the states and still find this deal mesmerizing (here in Portugal a similar graphics card would go for $410 so... yeah. Take the deal). Here's hoping this is a sign of the incoming times, and not just a freak event.

MSRP on a GTX 1080 is $599. I'm seeing at my local Micro Center all GTX 1080s they stock are at MSRP or far below. One even listed at $449.99 (after $20 MIR).

I wonder if prices will drop any further on remaining stock as the release of the RTX models gets closer?

MSRP of gtx 1080 is 499.99, it was dropped a while back. Not 599.

Wow MSRP after Polaris launched 2 years ago lol. However I may get one for mining if it drops $150 since I want the new Assassin's Creed.

Otherwise I would recommend people get those $250 1070 Ti's on eBay...

Ah, but not when (in Nvidia's case) your new line is $500 more expensive than the previous gen model. You can keep the price tag high on a 1080ti - it's a bargain compared to a 2080ti!

Until third-party 1080 TI 1080 vega64 56 are $400 or less then the prices would be reasonable however they are still not reasonable at this rate

I got my brand new 1070ti for 470€ in june, prices have been going down of a while. Of course I would love to see prices from 10 years ago but we are in a better place than we were last year, it was ludicrous.

The same card still costs 294 euro in my country, that's 340 dollars. Almost 50% more!

Got a lightly used Dell GTX 1060 6GB off eBay this morning for $199 for my backup system. Been watching prices drop since the RTX release announcement. Everybody is flogging GPUs. Which everybody knew was bound to happen. The question was when.

AMD is having a gap of 1& half year..in GPU
and its not like its going to be a perfect release of 7nm on the exact release date.
probably till 2020.

SO until then they need to release 12nm vega or Polaris competing in lower & mid range for the time being..

That along with a Freesync monitor is probably the best bang for the buck. If you shell out a bit more look into a Dell monitor and a 1080 for 2560x1440 gaming at 144+ hz.
