GIGABYTE Reveals Its Z390 AORUS XTREME Motherboard

GIGABYTE today revealed its Z390 AORUS XTREME motherboard. Built around Intel's Z390 chipset with support for the company's latest and greatest CPUs under the 9th Gen Core series, the Z390 AORUS Extreme brings with it a slew of features and top-tier specs that make it one of the most complete motherboard offerings in the market. From 10 GbE Aquantia LAN, a 16-phase DRM, 802.11ac WiFi, audio powered by the premium ESS SABRE 9018K2M DAC... and RGB.

Additional features include OC Touch buttons for automatic OC and CMOS clearing, three M.2 slots, reinforced RAM and PCIe slots, a "Cutting-edge Thermal Design with Fins-Array Heatsink, Direct Touch Heatpipe and NanoCarbon Baseplate", along with... everything else. Looks awesome just going by the specs. I especially like the solid 24+8+6pin connector that is angled. Also TB3 and dual USB-C are nice. 10Gig NIC and ESS DAC. Damn this board is packed.
Also socketed BIOS - meaning user can swap the chip? Nice.

I'm more annoyed with no PLX chip personally. The MEG, Xtreme & Godlike all look like they were built expecting a PLX, but hastily changed at the last minute.

The only appealing feature for me about these super high end boards is the audio, reading this board audio features in gigabyte's website really peaked my interest. Everything els seems.... unnecessary for most gamers

This Gigabyte mainboard - what the ROG Maximus XI Extreme should have been. Oh well can't get everything we want, so bummed with the M11E's plain bare absent aesthetics. :ohwell:

Now Asus is marketing the Extreme board as their watercooling board (whatever that means) and the Apex as the overclocking board, don't the two go hand in hand?

I think we need an Apex/Extreme Hybrid board.

Still holding out hope for (2) Apex XI skus, standard at $399 for the LN2 guys, and a superApex X(superscript2) that hybrid board for $549 ... $599.

Maybe it will happen.

Some of us like these fully loaded boards - bells-whistles-kitchen sink. lol

In a few more generations, I bet they'll just start putting an OLED overlay over the entire motherboard so that the whole thing can be one big RGB LED/ LCD screen
