The successful XPC cubes model series gets a boost: With the new SH310R4, the 8th and 9th generation of the Intel Core processors is now also available in Shuttle's entry-level range making it a good-value, but yet powerful model based on "Coffee Lake".

Based on the Intel chipset H310, the XPC cube Barebone SH310R4 supports the latest Intel Core processors of the "Coffee Lake" series with socket LGA1151v2 and up to 95 Watt TDP. Therefore, even the particularly fast ones such as the i9-9900K with up to 8 cores and 16 threads can be used. Two slots on the mainboard allow a total of 32 GB of DDR4 memory to be installed.

Features:
  • Dual monitoring in 4K at 60 Hz thanks to HDMI 2.0a and DisplayPort 1.2
  • PCIe-x16 slot for fast dual-slot graphics cards

The black aluminium chassis, which measures just 32.9 x 21.5 x 19 cm, offers space for an optical drive and two 3.5" hard disks. Furthermore, a PCIe-x16 slot for powerful dual-slot graphics cards and a PCIe-x1 slot for other expansion cards are available. Two M.2 slots for an NVMe SSD (M.2-2280) and a WLAN module (M.2-2230) are also provided.

An HDMI 2.0a and a DisplayPort 1.2 port enable fluent playback of 4K Ultra-HD videos with 60 images per second, while an analogue VGA port is available for Full-HD video output. Other connectivity includes 4x USB 3.1 Gen 1, 4x USB 2.0, Intel Gigabit Ethernet and audio.

A 300 Watt, 80 PLUS-certified power supply unit provides the SH310R4 with sufficient power even when under full load. It can be swapped for a 500 Watt power supply unit if necessary: This makes it possible to use even more power-hungry graphics cards. Finally, a special heatpipe cooling system ensures optimum cooling of the Barebone.

"The SH310R4 is positioned as a powerful entry-level Mini-PC at an attractive price," explains Tom Seiffert, Head of Marketing & PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. "Three video outputs, two M.2 slots and the many USB connections provide plenty of flexibility."

And the discreet design of the SH310R4 means that it offers a persuasive choice not just technically, but also visually. One special feature is the front of the chassis, which can be configured individually by simply placing a photo, a graphic or a logo behind the transparent acrylic plate.

Accessories available as an optional extra are a WLAN/Bluetooth module (WLN-M), an RS-232 port (H-RS232), a bracket for two 2.5" drives (PHD3) and a 500 Watt power supply unit (PC63J).

Shuttle's recommended retail price for the XPC Barebone SH310R4 is EUR 231.00 (ex VAT).

Yeah looks like a cheap oven :D

They've had this design for over 10 years.

It's quite nice actually.

I hope their PSUs are a bit more reliable and maybe standard SFX now.

Do they finally have Ryzen models? If not why not?

Yeah mini-PC which uses proprietary PSU is waste of time. If it is SFX then certainly worth of consideration, but knowing Shuttle... I don't hold my breath for that.
