Acer announced the release of another FreeSync monitor to their lineup. The Predator XR343CKP offers a 34", ultrawide, curved IPS panel with a 3440 x 1440 resolution. Being an IPS panel, the 1 ms response time (with MPRT, so, an added blur reduction mode is taken into account for this response time) is a premium specification. It features an up to 100 Hz refresh rate with FreeSync technology enabling variable refreshes without screen tearing.

The panel offers a typical 1,000:1 contrast ratio with a relatively low 350 cd/m² typical brightness, 172/178 viewing angles, 1.07 billion color depth and standard sRGB color gamut. Display Inputs include HDMI, DisplayPort, and 5x USB ports. All of this can be available for the modest amount of $1799... Which isn't at all the number I expected to be quitting based on the specs alone, and looking at other market offerings. But that's what's being shown on Acer's page - though some retailers, such as Amazon Germany, are offering this for some €893 (~$1000), which is much more realistic.

sadly the monitor would surpass $2000 if it had a g-sync module. kinda of sucks but it keeps the cost down for them.
Not sure if that's true. Their Z35P is currently listed at $900($800 current sale price) on the official Acer store. Essentially the same thing with supposedly slightly slower (4ms GTG) and slightly dimmer(300Nit) IPS/VA LCD, but still has 100Hz refresh rate and up to 120Hz overclocked (I'm quoting the product page). Same story for X34.
I think Acer with their cosmic margins on Predator sub-brand can afford to overprice Freesync monitors on purpose just to keep selling G-Sync at the same price.

34GK950F come with 144Hz at $950.
I wouldn't expect much for motion blur reduction and their 1ms BS. Typical 3440x1440 IPS always come with 10ms avg response time. Strobe crosstalk is bad with these high response time. I understand why there is no ULMB on 3440x1440 G-Sync monitor.

So, basically the Freesync version of my X34P which is selling for $700 at NewEgg right now.

Nice that they finally offer a Freesync version, but if it isn't $500 then it's a waste.

Maybe I'm new to this but the statement "Acer Releases Predator XR343CKP monitor: 34" etc." indicates that you can actually buy this product. Maybe I'm in the wrong area of the world but when searching google for this there are no places selling this.

That monitor has been on the market for months now in the form of the X34P. 100Hz, IPS, 3440x1440, G-Sync, overclockable to 120Hz. And it's available direct from Acer for $850, or is on sale at NewEgg for $750 currently until next Thurs. (Well, looks like it may be $700 with the promo code on their site).

What's curious on this Freesync monitor is that the DP freq range is from 48Hz to 100Hz, and the HDMI freq range is from 30Hz-100Hz. Weird.

IPS with 1ms GTG?
That's probably a marketing BS. As @Slizzo said earlier, it's a Freesync modification of X34P. Almost that entire product lineup has 4ms GTG listed on their official website, and persistent response time is so vague and non-standardized that they can write pretty much whatever they want.

I am seriously considering that LG monitor with the problems I am having with my Acer.

Also, for those that didn't read, the monitors are typically 5ms (after overdrive, 8ms out of the box) and the 1ms is from motion blue reduction technology.

TLDR: These are most likely 5ms panels

Too expensive, and no Freesync 2 with at least some very low almost HDR experience (like HDR400/600).

And damn, that acer logo in the back is huge !!

And the freesync version of that same exact panel you mentioned can be found for $150-200 less.
Is the monitor in the article overpriced? Yes, would gsynce add cost to the overpriced monitor? Yes

And which model is that, if not a secret? Cause all I can see is that its predecessor XR342-series sells north of $1000 even today (except for 75Hz HDR variant).

The XR34 is what I'm referring to and I usually see them in the $725-$800 range.

These sky high profit margins and prices don't work for Adaptive Sync...

Thank goodness...
