The new installment is an open-world space action single-player RPG that puts the player in the cockpit of Captain Jonathan Bold, a space adventurer traveling the vast universe of Starpoint Gemini 3. For the first time in the franchise, Starpoint Gemini 3 introduces 3D, animated NPCs that players can interact with, and this time the flight path leads beyond Gemini as they get to explore two new planetary systems, visiting various venues, from pubs with shady clientele to high-tech facilities and noisy, glitzy nightclubs.

Along with the action-packed space battles, Starpoint Gemini 3 comes with an array of novel possibilities. With the help of ADAH, a digital consciousness that runs the ship's computer, players can operate the ship's drone and accomplish tasks they wouldn't otherwise be able to do.

The immersive gameplay and the absorbing story of Starpoint Gemini 3 takes the players on an unforgettable adventure.

Would be nice if they finally get a proper controle scheme. I played SG2 and Warlords and boy is it horrible to navigate.

They should take a long look at Rebel Galaxy as to how capital ship combat works well. Other than that, content and setting wise this is many a kid's wet dream. Control big ass ships, even fleets in real time action and full free roam.

Yeah but you haven't got realtime control there, you can just issue some commands. This game is nothing like it - did you play it?

Go play Rebel Galaxy. Great soundtrack & gameplay ;)

If Rebel Galaxy is the game I'm thinking of, it confused the hell out of me that there was no movement on the Z axis. I thought the game was broke for a while because I couldn't move up/down in a 3D space.....it's space and I can't move up or down! WTF!

I've only put a few hours into, it seemed pretty good, but it still bugs me you can't move up/down in the game and I decided I'd better use my time on a different game than being constantly bugged about the lack of z axis movement.

How are the controls compared to something like Elite: Dangerous? That's the only space sim I've played, but it controlled beautifully with a flight stick.

Nothing like it. This isn't a dogfighting sim at all, its slow. Think of naval combat. It tries to be tactical, but isn't really deep enough to keep that facade up. In terms of exploration though this is comparable to Elite. Its huge and has many things to do. Its more like an RPG in that sense.

Agreed, its peculiar at that, but again: naval combat. That is the best comparison. You're thinking in terms of broadsides, switching the side that faces the enemy, maximizing the use of resources.

Also, and I can very much recommend this: you can edit in your own music. The map structure of the game offers different locations for your own files, one for ambient, space stations, and one for combat. Its pretty awesome having your DnB kick in when you start shooting :D

That's not the game's biggest problem. Lack of replayability is. But if you manage to think of it a 2D game, it's pretty good. Well worth a playthrough, imho.

Spot on... its not a very long campaign either, you progress constantly, so its a fun route to the top. No real grind involved. I think I had 12 hours of fun, not rushing it at all but focused on the main questline.

I hope SG3 is going to be improved. First 2 was fun to play, different RPG style.

I am one of the developers in LGM. SPG3 was a very ambitious project for us and we put (and still are) a lot of effort in it. Our goal is to make a great game with an immersive gameplay and an absorbing storyline. We hired a professional writer to work on the story. For the first time in the franchise, players will be able to interact with animated 3d NPCs. Very popular and capable voice actors are working on this game (Lani Minella, James Horan, Dave Fennoy, Tamara Ryan, Erik Braa, Jason Miller and others…). We made the game controls a lot simpler and more intuitive. Many other improvements await the players in the new installment of the SPG franchise.

Neat, something like this could pull me back into gaming (time allowing). Is it tied to Steam or can we expect it in other stores as well *cough*gog*cough*?

This. Enjoyed SG1 but the pacing was too slow, didn't like SG2 other than the expansion that ported the SG1 story into SG2's engine (fixed the slow pacing of the original). Because of experience with SG2, I skipped Warlords. I'm not super-thrilled by SG3. I'll want to wait for reviews that show the game is a serious improvement first.
