DigiTimes is reporting that three of the major DRAM and Flash players in the industry - Micron, Samsung and SK Hynix - are expected to drop an astonishing 26% sequentially on 1Q19 and 29% YoY for 1Q19. The combined revenue drop for the three DRAM and Flash semiconductor giants comes in the face of seasonality and decreasing prices, and the decline continues an already negative 4Q18, which saw a decrease of 18% sequentially and 26% from a year earlier.

With memory pricing facing a continuous decline in recent times, clients are taking a pondered approach towards ordering from manufacturers - an expectation of future savings being the main factor for this. Demand, however, is expected to pick up in 2H19, due to increased demand from end customers, following price-cuts from manufacturers and improved specifications on end-products.

They might of fooled digitimes. But most of us can see that tsunami, feel the earth quake, flooding and plant fire right around the corner...

I wonder what their excuse will be next... Aliens have stolen all our machines we need to bump up prices by 500% to continue production to meet demand while weathering an earthquake, tsunami and survive a plant fire and plant flooding all at the same time

something about silicon always bothers me, whay do they make it round ? it bad to cut the chips in the middle no ? whay not cut them in squares ? can save so many chips if they cut them in squares

It's a bit early for joy. Yes, prices are 50% inflated, and this is caused by various factors and they will not give up mass gains in this area. As far as round discs are not concerned, I suggest that you first look at the process of making a silicon board and then you try to make a cube from the wheel!

Even better, due to increased demand, thanks to lower prices, they need to increase prices again, to keep up with demand.

yhe but I think also because performance of DDR4 to 3 don't gives as mutch as DDR3 to 2, thare is big slowing of memory performance in the last generation I think if it gived at least 2x performance of DDR3 it would worth if the price was like DDR3 when was it's time, but reduced performance + high price = nobody buying. also performance of processors that sit on DDR4 don't make the trip of buying moboramcpu worth, it realy is because intel sitting on 14 so long (for whatever reasons) which don't give them possiblity to give more real processor performance. this 3 reasons but thare is another: realistic non synthetic application performance while does increase from more memory speed - not as mutch anymore I think the increase memory performance at some point no longer contirbuting significantly to the speed of the programs, so again not realy worth (I know this from a friend who have 2011 and did a quad channel recently so I asked him if he get 2x more speed he sayd no, then I tell him that benchmark show that more 2 channels give so many speed what the problem ? it not work ? and he says it the true, but only benchmark)

I'm sure being caught price fixing had nothing to do with profit reduction losses.

"It has been pointed out that the said manufactures have acted like a "cartel" and have fixed the price. The said price was as low as 2$ and was raised gradually to 8$ almost (https://www.dramexchange.com/)*. this translated to retail price hikes, but i have been wondering how does this 6$ wholesale price increase results in such dramatic rise in retail kits? See : https://www.gamersnexus.net/industry/3212-ram-price-investigation-ddr4-same-price-as-initial-launch Sorry if i don't understand the internal working of the various process involved, hence due to which i am just asking this. "

i still don't get this, no one is talking about the manufacturers using the RAM, like G.Skill, Corsair etc, these company pay the contract wholesale price, which was 8$ when i made this post on reddit. for Eg:
G.SKILL Ripjaws 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz 15-15-15-35
2/22/2016 >original price -- $81 > increased to---$196(+142.8%) So how does those 6$ in whole sale covert to 142%+ in retail?????

Remember to buy your high end ram before zen 2 hits the shelves or you're gonna be on your knees earning cash for it. No doubt production will be cut just in time for increased demand.

Already did this. Me and a buddy both bought the 2600x and high-end memory (Samsung B-dies easily clocked to 3466) with every intention of upgrading once 3800x drops. It will pan out even better if Zen+ does indeed also slide into AM4. I believe it will.
