I'm surprised. You normally expect these bundled games to be either niche or not selling very well / received mixed reception.

That was back when manufacturers offered bundles on their own. Once AMD and Nvidia got behind that, they want nothing but AAA games. Which honestly never did anything for me because lately everything is an online game and I was never into those (not because I have anything against them, I just didn't have the required amount of time). And once I got HAWK (or was it HAWX?) that looked like something I could enjoy, but I refused to install it due to the included DRM and online account requirement.

Edit: How does the Epic store works? Does it require a client to play the game or is it more like GOG (i.e. once you download the game, you're free to lauch it as you wish)?

Benchmark Scores bench...mark? i do leave mark on bench sometime, to remember which one is the most comfortable. :o
Totally not worth doing from a 1070. There are also games where the 2060 lands in between it and the 1070ti. These are baby steps, I guess if you want to pay 250-300 bucks for RT effects in one or two games, its a good 'upgrade' (I'm counting the free game as a price cut). But for the performance? Meh. You barely notice. Also if you want to push this card into 4K at medium/high settings, the VRAM will probably annoy you a bit. Balance is a bit off.

well i was semi sarcastic nonetheless ... and indeed i wouldn't care less about RT effect (gimmicky) and certainly not for 4k, why did i wrote 1440P ... 2.5k FTW! (even if my screen can do 3k also ... ) i don't intend to go into 4K screen any time soon ... the actual GPU gen are "barely" 4k capable optimal (it will be worse later ... the next gen will probably not be 5k and 8k capable optimal  ... it's just like talking about 5G network when 4G is barely correctly implemented ... "gotta go fast" ... eh? )

actually i am more considering a Vega 64 to be a worthy upgrade slightly above a "baby step" ... since at the present moment it's on par with the 2060 pricing at certain of my e-tailer

Yes, it requires the Epic launcher to be open, like majority of Steam games require Steam to be open.

for a 2060 to outperform the 1070 non Ti at 1440p is even astounding in my books. Heck, might as well be the perfect GPU (the 2060) in tackling ultrawide monitors.

That's exactly what kind of monitor I have. It's perfect for my rig.

the 2060 has a mere 6GB VRAM toppled the 1070 across the board, despite the Pascal card having 8GB VRAM (beefy). Why? new architecture, new algorithm to save VRAM, on top of having a faster one (GDDR6) over the "slow" GDDR5. Doubt the smaller but faster VRAM is a "downgrade" imo.
is that for real ?
watch some vids on this channel, there is no difference in vram usage

https://www.youtube.com/user/DudeRandom84/videos

architectually turing is a big step, true.
but the cards should've had more vram and you can only pack so many cuda cores on 12nm when you're putting tensor/rt cores on the die too.
that's why people are saying it's bad value, even though the new architecture is a big step up,but the capabilities of these cards are limited by the process imo.

You get the same amount of games. Stop.

Value is clearly not the same.
Nvidia gives you 2 mainstream titles and one pretender (Anthem).
AMD gives you 3 attractive titles, but not as mainstream as the ones with Nvidia. So they were cheaper for sure.

You have to consider that this promotion is not aimed at hardcore gamers - a segment where people may like the games bundled, but this won't affect their graphic card choice (so it has no value to the card or GPU makers).
It's mainly aimed at casual gamers - people who don't read GPU reviews etc. And they play just few titles a year, so may be attracted by a mainstream game they know.

Battlefield is a hugely popular series. Metro is a very popular franchise (at least in some countries).
Other 4 titles mentioned: Anthem, Division 2, DMC and Resident Evil are in a lower class.

If you're a hardcore gamer and you play many games, AMD bundle may be a better deal for you. But if you're a hardcore gamer and you like AMD, there's a big chance you'll buy them anyway.

Well that's the point. 3 games are great if you're playing many hours a week and trying dozens titles yearly.
This deal isn't that great for casual gamers.

As for the AAA games issue... all games in the 2 current promotions could be called "AAA" because of popularity (expectations and mainstream character).
What I meant earlier is that we seldom see really good titles in these bundles. Quality doesn't always go with expectations. :)
We all remember For Honor hype, right? ;-)

Personally, I feel the "AAA" thing got really devaluated lately. It's used to be reserved for really good games. Today almost all games released by major studios are called that. We've segmented the gaming industry into "AAA" and "indie"...

It's a bit like movies: almost everything today is advertised as "from creators of something famous" or "starring award-winning someone".
So if your make up artist hasn't worked in Avatar and Sean Bean isn't killed in the first scene, you're basically making an amateur movie.

Funny, i thought you can sell your codes if you don't like the games and make some money back. That's still a good deal to me, I didn't expect someone would see it otherwise.

Good varies from one person to the next, I don't think "good" is a good (pun intended) discriminator here.

@cucker tarlson packing more VRAM doesn't do justice when the GPU can't even make use of the memory if the core is slow as heck, whether the VRAM type is GDDR5X or GDDR6. Also, I doubt the cheap Turing has "limited" capabilities when you can do 1080p 60fps Ultra settings with RTX enabled on games like BF5 without needing a 2070 for such task. Lastly, GTX1070 & 1070Ti's launch price are $379 & $449 respectively, making them more expensive over the RTX2060's $350 MSRP. Also, you can never find a fresh GTX1070 or 1070Ti when most are used cards with unknown history.

So wait, first the card is too weak to be packing more than 6GB and then its powerful because it can run 1080p/60 ultra with RTX.

For all intents and purposes a 2060 is a 1070ti in disguise with -2GB of VRAM. The 1070ti is capable of 4K medium just fine. The 2060 will struggle in certain situations. That GPU core is fast enough.

Throwing more VRAM than needed at a video card because consumers buy numbers is not new ;)
I've said this before and I'll say it again: the 2060 is a good deal as it is. If it had 8GB VRAM and a 256 bit bus at the same price point, it would have been an absolute must buy.

3 AAA game bundle for a 6/5 and 1 month old cards?! Hell yeah they get dat beating! Hope it gonna last long enough to show’em where they took wrong turn. Both ngreedia and slowpoke amd.

Though, ngreedia could do a little bit better - metro is a great game + rays. But cheater-infested BFV is a doubt-full choice. Anthem? Dunno, reviwers said its a complete failure, they’ve better add something raytraced aswell. Or....oh, wait, that’s only 2 games there, right?

1. All 3 cost $60.
2. Metro is NOT a mainstream game (but the only one out of the 3 NV titles that has good quality). I think it sells way less than Anthem, f.e. Division 2, RE2 is not in a lower class compared to BFV or Metro.
3. If you would buy them, you don't need to, as it is presented for the given AMD cards.

@cucker tarlson packing more VRAM doesn't do justice when the GPU can't even make use of the memory if the core is slow as heck, whether the VRAM type is GDDR5X or GDDR6. The GTX 1060 6GB was faster than the GTX 980 for $250. The RTX 2060 is slower than the GTX 1080 for $350. I hope you can feel the difference.

Since when we are happy about lower tier card priced exactly like previous gen, higher tier? Do u know why GTX 1070 was so popular before mining apocalypse?
And yeah, 379$ and 350$ - hellova deal!

It's a very good one. Height also varies from one person to another. You can calculate an "average" of both. And other statistics as well.

Earlier you said "value", not "price".

This was my original question in this thread. I don't know how popular Metro is in places like US.
The franchise (mostly books, but games as well) is an huge hit in Eastern Europe.
If they're after a global success, going for a bundle like this one is a great idea.
All earlier Metro games are in Xbox Game Pass, so yeah - global sales may be below their expectations.

You can measure height, because that's a concrete trait. You can't measure "good".

You have the 1660Ti. To be followed by even cheaper versions.
