• Press triangle to eject games/CDs/movies in the XMB • XMB backgrounds
• Change the folder classification • Emoticons • Add bookmarks
• Change CD output to 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz • Force 24Hz output for Blu-ray over HDMI
• Change PS3 video settings in-game • "Bit Mapping" in the "Music Setting"
• Save AVCHD type animations from a Memory Stick • Change settings like upscaling while playing PS and PS2 games
• Web browser security function in the browser's tool section • Avatar moves during audio visual chat

How'd they get there XMB to run Flow as the background?
It doesn't look like the static image you get from selecting Flow

That's because all there is to do on a PS3 right now is watch Blu-Ray movies and download updates. Give me FF13 for fux sake. By the time this console get's moving, PCs will have left these consoles in the dust.

it does more than that...

of the top of my head, it can do...

Folding@home
Upcovert dvds and older ps games
play blue-ray
surf the web
use as a media server
view photos and print them
play music
run linux distros
play games...of course...

if some one else wants to continue...

Agreed LiNKiN and ktr. Its alot better than the 360 is right now.

sure the 360 has more games (its been out longer) but its graphics arent on top of the PS3 (even though ATI powers the 360 and nvidia does the ps3) and aside from more peripherals, its about it, unless you count Xbox live. Of course PS3s home and friends list is right up there if you ask me and their marketplace is alot beter.

One thing I would really like to see in the next firmware update is a default "Menu" button on the controller... maybe "Select", that would take you right to DVD menu. It's a pain in the @$$ to press triangle, then try to find the menu option on the onscreen remote, which you can only see if what is playing is dark.... blagh... :shadedshu

HDMI and Toslink on PS3

On my PS3, I can selecte EITHER HDMI audio or Optical Toslink Audio which is annoying.
Did they fix that in the new firmware?

The reason I want audio on both HDMI and Toslink optical is that sometimes I want audio just from the HDTV and sometimes I want full surround sound.

My interim solution, because I have 2 HDTV's is to use a HDMI splitter to send the signals to both TV's. The HDMI splitter fortunatly has a Optical Audio output which pulls the audio from the HDMI input and also sends it out to Optical. I then run it to the Surround Sound system. Audio is also available on the HDMI port.
However, I have to set the PS3 to HDMI audio mode.
