I doubt the signs of some of the former CEOs would be such a great move, Hector nearly drove AMD into the ground & there are a few others who are even worse!

The current AMD is thriving & kicking due to Lisa & the last CEO as well as Keller, Papermaster etc. This AMD doesn't owe much to the series of "oops" their previous leaders pulled off for nearly a full decade!
Yeah, you never owe where you are to anyone that preceded you. Great line of thinking.

They real question is, what are the specs? Will they be binned? Will they be clocked higher? I hope so because Ryzen 3xxx are on the doorstep.

It's the exact same cpu as the regular 2700X. Look, these anniversary chips are dumb but at least the i7-8086 was a binned, overclocked cpu. This 2700X is just a regular 2700X but has a different cardboard box and different etchings on the heatspreader. They then want to charge $40 extra.

that stands for $50 more for the CEO's signature more likely.

Lisa Su's signature really? in the 50the anniversary? She is really thinking she is something *facepalm*
I mean Jim Keller's sig would be much more appreciated,if he hadn't just left them for Intel

Well, people also bought i7-8086K and paid premium for that.

The 8086k actually had higher clocks though. It's still one of the only processors where you're guaranteed a 5 GHz overclock. If AMD binned their 2700x's and came out with one guaranteed to do 4.2 at reasonable voltages, then it would be worth the extra product launch.

signed by Lisa Su... like who gives a crap... if I literally wait 30-60 days longer I can get the far superior 3700x for probably around same price if not less... lol wow...

honestly this whole stunt is making me wary of AMD a bit. the ego. when they haven't even beat Intel as best gaming chip yet.

This is not a CPU for your average consumer - it's designed for hardware collectors, and as a collector myself, I'm interested in one - not in using it mind you, but in having it sit in one of my display cases alongside my 8086k.

I know that it's just a binned 8700K, but my point was that it was also an anniversary edition (40yrs for the 8086/x86 architecture) so I kinda understand the price premium.

Your 4.2Ghz all core is still slower then a well cooled with XFR/PBO running next to it.

If your buying a premium model with an X on the end, you really dont need manual overclocking.

We don't know that yet.

These could be top bin parts.

Not holding my breath but yeah, time will tell as we know someone will buy and bench them.

Maybe they wanted to get Zen 2 and Navi out for the anniversary but this is the best they could do?

Seems like Sapphire are trying to cash in on it too.

Marketing love this type of thing, any excuse for a limited edition with a price premium is always snatched at.

Benchmark Scores 3050 scores good 15-20% lower than average, despite ASUS's claims that it has uber cooling.
Whoever is stupid enough to buy this probably deserves it.
It's as "stupid" as collecting stamps.
Or pretty much any hobby on this planet.
And your point was, that the buyer wouldn't know it's probably not faster than an upcoming CPU?

Give users something more than stickers.
Cause that oversized R&D budget of AMD allows to designe entire series of CPUs just for some anniversary.

Any links with manual all core vs XFR/PBO? I would be curious if this is a true statement seeing as how a Zen2 is going to be my next build unless it really sucks.

XFR is already within the chip's maximum limitations. Single core boost all the way up to 4.35Ghz, all core boost up to 4160Mhz (CB) if your cooling allows this, drops down around the 60 degrees mark. IBT on HIGH does an avg of 4Ghz. I have to say tho that i undervolted my 2700X, and that the temps are lower and it allows XFR to stick longer compared to a stock 2700x.

For all core workloads a manual 4.2GHz OC is better but only like in few percentages. XFR still 'owns' in single thread speeds up to 4.35Ghz. As long as it's withing the power/temps/workload it's all good. 2700X dont really need manual overclocking.
