Welp. Navi is confirmed to be right below Radeon VII performance... meh.
3090 is expected to be Radeon VII performance while 3090XT to have 10+% performance. But anyway, who cares, if you get RTX 2070 performance for $330?

laptops are great if you can cool them proper, but I want a proper 1440p high refresh setup for my Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers binge session, has nothing to do with patience, its the free markets and its how i want to spend my money and time, i enjoy that mmo immensely and go back every new expansion for a good three months. i don't want to be limited by my laptop anymore, not for this game.

mmos are a lot more exciting at launch, i don't want to miss out on the new expansion "energy"
And you think that you will get more fps on your 1080Ti in 1440P with Intel compared to a Ryzen? :D LOL @ you. Anyway, you have a 9700K, why do you want to change it?

eh not really, if i went with ryzen 1700x or 2700x i would still need a new mobo if i wanted to upgrade to 3700x. because i personally want the new samsung pci express 4.0 storage drives that are inevitably coming, etc.
No, you don't need. It's not Intel. AM4 remains until 2020. Plus if you want PCI-E 4.0, you have to buy it too on Intel. So I don't get it what's good in your lying. Anyway, what do PCI-E 4.0 storage drives offer compared to the ones you can buy now? Even a SATA SSD is the same fast in loading Win and games as a PCI-E nvme drive.

Manually or automatically, it doesn''t matter. That great OC headroom isn't there anymore.

Can you show a Zen 2 that doesn't have great headroom?

If not, show me one rumor that says it's an OC beast.

I can show you a rumor that said Fury was an overclocker's dream. How'd that turn out?

That's an upgrade you have to do with Intel as well if you want PCIe 4, right?

I just saw your specs, you have a 9700K? If so, why upgrade?

Well considering in a post just above that he just said he has a gaming laptop and doesn't want to wait to buy a Zen 2, I would say its just hot smoke up everyone's ass.

i don't want to be limited by my laptop anymore, not for this game.

hmmmm....9700k in specs...? I get your sentiment. I bought a GTX 980 so I could max out TW3. Worst card I have owned but that's besides the point. I don't hesitate to buy shit I don't need when I want to enjoy a game I love.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
I'm jumping for joy these are all coming out... here is to going it's all we want it to be!

Didn't you see 8C ES matched 9900k at much lower power? with this extra ~50% power saving, I am sure you would be able to OC at least by 20% more.
So lest say 5.65Ghz 9900K equivalent - at least on CB R15 kind of workloads.
weightwut?

Surely if I get better brakes my AC will blow colder.

(Ok, fun car analogy there, but the point is one cant automatically assume that if there is power savings we'll have more of headroom. As people mentioned already, both AMD and Intel are really pushing clocks already and cant get past their own boost/xfr.

I can you a rumor that said Fury was an overclocker's dream. How'd that turn out?
Just fine if you understood the context it was said in.... thermals. :)

I've been over that here several times (was at the announcement where it was said and talked with Joe in person).

What's not to understand, it's a lot to unpack, but... A 8 core engineering sample running lower clocks beat/matched a 9900K using around 50% less power. So a 16 core at the same TDP as a 9900K overclocked will still outperform it at the same workload.

Seems like AMD is on top again, but I reserve judgement until we get reviews.

I was responding to what (I thought?) he said and comparing 8c/16t part with the same...did I miss something?

Since you brought up a 16c part....was it confirmed they were 95W? 2700x I know is 105w. I'd imagine that 16c part to be around there or a bit higher.
EDIT: you said overclocked 9900k... so like 200w for the 16c part? (A dig at 9900k power use, lol)...I recall them being around 125w???

And yeah, from the rumors, it sure looks like AMD is going to be king of the cpus again... little argument there.

To be fair though, has ANYONE heard a rumor about Matisse being an OC beast?

Higher stock clocks, yes.

OC beast, well that's something different. The days of of a 1 GHz overclock or more on air are gone.

Beast, maybe not, but most people should be pleased.

All those vulnerabilities exposed on Intel's processor, the hotfixes/security patches might downgrade his/her 9700K to a 2700K performance :roll::roll:

9700k user here too. I´m almost sure that Ryzen 3xxx will not beat a 9700k @ 5ghz paired with 4000mhz CL18 ram for my personal usage. If so, I trade without any problem. But I highly doubt it.

I think this is the generation that AMD reaches parity again and not just 'parity' as in close enough.

Nope. Just like I didn’t care for Zen’s Haswell-like gaming performance. When I buy new PC hardware, I want new levels of performance that wasn’t available before. Zen 2 and Navi needs to beat its competitor’s top dogs in gaming for me to consider them.

What if AMD releases something that beats the 2080 ti but priced at $2000?

Faster isn't always better. I for one welcome 2070 levels of perfo @ lower price ranges. Not everyone has pockets as deep as their daddy's credit card allows. IMO we need more options in the 250-350 price range. That's where the bulk of the market is.

What is delayed? Did AMD specify when the different products were supposed to launch in the past, or are you basing this on rumours? Also, announcement ≠ launch.

Maybe it's an OC beast in the RAM department? ;)

Depends where your starting point is.

New CPU and I will probably get one for sure. :) New tech is always welcome. I'm still a bit concerned about NAVI. I hope it will be better than VII. Isn't there going to be two NAVI dies? which one is being released first? The mid range or high end card?

IMO, stop thinking Intel GHz style, AMD don't need to go "5Ghz+" since it's already mentions that clock speed gonna suffer fron now, so they need to improve IPC and such to improve the performance.
So maybe we are back in Athlon 64 days when AMD's lower clock matched Intel's high clock parts. (Athlon 64 3000+ was P4 3Ghz equivalent at 1.8Ghz! )
So think like "Ryzen 3000 will boost to 5Ghz Intel equivalent" but in reality it will be just around 4.5Ghz.
