project cars 2 - started out on the go cart tier didn't like the handbrake effect when applying brakes irrespective of input variation and the over direct steering that resulted thereafter.
crysis warhead - got used to the x360 layout config on 2 and 3 , had nostalgia of 1 and i looked at it cuz i never played it but feels like a maximum chore tbh
fallout 4 - I can't explain this one but every time I try I find myself lurking on nexus...for skyrim mods and then I play skyrim

Every Crysis except 2 - 1 and Warhead are... wierd for me to play, 3 I got bored once you engage aliens in a bigger fight. Only reason I completed 2 is because PSN got hacked and I only had a PS3 and that game unfinished at the time
Skyrim - Yes I know, I´m a bad person but it never hooked me as much as oblivion did
GRID Autosport - mother of all grinds required so no thanks
Metro: Exodus - maybe my fault because I only played in 20 to 30 minute sessions but I will give it another go
Watch Dogs 2 - loved the first game but this one is to hipster for my taste
Far Cry 5 - don´t know why I bought it in the first place
Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 - got annoyed in the tutorial
Homefront Revolution - lost my savegame moving to new PC and I´m not fighting so many annoying drones again
Sniper Elite 4 - to much open world for that style of game imo but might go back to it
Fuel - hm... just like far cry just with cars
Some LEGO games - the were free so no need to rush

There are many games that I do not finish, because of always repeating actions, absurd waves of enemies and event timing, micro managements and collecting stuff, surrealistic missions or enemy behavior.
But the absolutely most not finished games in my case must be: Flight Sims!!!! After learning all the buttons you notice that missions are boring, stop playing for some months, and then you have to start again learning all the buttons, hahaha

Most games I have are unfinished, but I have to single out Crysis 2. I loved the first one and Warhead, but the second one seemed so different both in play and story that I stopped after about an hour out of disappointment.

I've always heard that most games go unfinished. Here's an interesting article on it and average age of gamers etc. It's from 2011 but I believe it's still relevant today. Maybe the 90% unfinished rate is a little high but the lowest I have ever seen in an article is 60% unfinished games.

I'm a veteran playing PC games since MS-DOS era I completed over 1k games since then (and yeah, I got the list).

At this moment I'm playing ReThink 3 - it's a color-combination based puzzle game that keeps the processor at peak efficiency even at an old age.

Generally speaking, I don't let games unfinished. I like to play most of them for the story (so I play most RPGs that have good story). I also like true strategy games like C&C series, Homeworld, Starcraft, AoW. FPSs I still play, but not like before since they are of significantly lower quality now-days. FEAR series was perhaps the last good FPS series I gladly re-played, while things like Failcry I played just out of curiosity and for the minimal story content that they have.

In the last couple of years there seems to be a market invasion of all sorts of horror games, but most just lack the proper atmosphere and story that one would expect in them so I tested quite many and actually played and completed just a few.

I do play a lot less than I used to. Lack of quality now-days is the main reason, but my available time isn't also what it used to be.

There are some games I haven't finished because the final boss fight is a QTE (quick time event), a system that has no place in gaming.
Notable games with QTE endings are Dying Light and Far Cry 3, if I'm not mistaken.

Fairly terrible article overall. Yes games with tacked on SP modes may not be completed. Most people don't buy BF for the campaign as an example. I think their rate of "finished" is very off. Probably closer to 50% overall if I had to guess. There is no shortage of people who talk about games and their endings. See the Mass Effect series as an example.

Essentially they're going off of achivements, saying people like grindy MP games or small cell phone games. That is because they know they make more money that way so of course they'll make up false statistics to prove this.

Interesting article, but with a fair amount of generalisation.
This rings true though:
"Make a game worth my time and money, and I'll be happy. After all, 10 hours of awesome is better than 20 hours of boring."

Steam games:

*Age of Empires II: When I was a kid I finished the Age of Kings and The Conquerors campaigns. I still have all the new content to check out.
*Age of Mythology: Same thing with Tale of the Dragon.
*Assassin's Creed Origins: Bought it because it was Ancient Egypt-based. Still have a few more missions to finish. Even with quad DRM and my computer not reaching the minimum requirements, it has been quite enjoyable.
*Black Mesa: waiting for Xen.
*Cuphead: An amazing game, but hard as hell. I barely made it out of the first island and I can't beat anyone on the second island lol
*Hyper Light Drifter: Mostly complete, but I want all the achievements. One of them requires finishing the main story without dying even once.
*Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Does this even count as a game? Anyway, I don't even know anymore why I bought it, but I kinda don't want to get rid of it either. Besides, I already have too many hours on it to get a refund.
*Ni no Kuni II - Revenant Kingdom: Main story complete, but I still have one DLC left to finish and the achievements. And a lot of farming too (gotta upgrade the equipment and the spells)
*No Man's Sky: I heard that game completion requires, among other things, reaching the center of 256 galaxies... I'm still 750k light years away from the center of the first galaxy... Besides, the game is still getting new content...
*OneShot: There's an alternate story available after finishing the game for the first time.
*Star Wars X-Wing vs TIE Fighter: The last mission requires you to destroy a Super Star Destroyer. Nearly impossible to do with just a starfighter armed with a handful of heavy rockets or proton torpedoes and laser cannons. The only way I ever managed to beat that mission was with unlimited craft waves (essentially, cheating).
*Wizard of Legend: I get my butt kicked all the time with the first boss.

Console games, only one I care about (and the last console I ever owned was a NES clone):

Shadow the Hedgehog: My cousins, being the Sonic fans they were (and still are), got it for their GameCube and I played it with them. The game intro was... incredible, it blew my pre-teen mind. Like, holy crap, a dark, edgy Sonic lookalike with guns and stuff! LOL. The multiple possible paths the story could take... we didn't really finish it, though. I think we completed the pure hero and neutral story lines and a bunch of other chapters, but not all of them...
EDIT: And the music, Oh my God! Became a Crush 40 fan right there

I rarely finish single player games, so I rarely buy them. The most recent game I tried but didn't finish was Prey. It got boring (and to be fair I was bored from the beginning) some time around when I had nearly all the shooting, gun mods, and slow-mo neuromod, felt like an easy version of F.E.A.R. I think the problem for me was the lack of monster variety, and the monster AI was pretty easy to defeat. They have simple pathing and don't employ any tactics.

I need to finish my latest playthrough of Subnautica, I am near the lava part. I usually get sidetracked building stuff and exploring in Subnautica and have yet to complete it even with quite a few hours and several new games started.

You should have tried prey from a standpoint ie I did no nueromods ,kept my body clean , certainly made it tense and tricky, and worth the effort.
Ai though there's a point, I don't think any game has beat fear yet for semi intelligence and actually feeling like the enemy are working together to kill you, shame as it made that game.
Working occasionally through metro exodus and Wolfenstein new colosus atm plus mooching through a career in f1 2019(very good racer this time for 1 player).

Agreed and it had some cool guns. One of my all time favorite rifles in video games is the:

Definitely a must-play game for anyone that likes FPS.

In Tomb Raider - Angel of Darkness I spend most of my time fiddling with the mouse and keyboard settings and regretting that there isn't any real mouselook.
Clunky is the only way to describe the controls in this game and even another stab at it today hasn't really helped, so I doubt I'll ever finish it, which is a shame really because it always had so much promise.

Well, from my Steam library, 217 out of 492 games played..

Currently playing World of Final Fantasy, just tried that after I bought it when it was released for PC. Still have other FF games to play as well (XII, Type-0, Lightning Returns). But this is on my to-do list for now.

You should have tried prey from a standpoint ie I did no nueromods ,kept my body clean , certainly made it tense and tricky, and worth the effort.
That’s the same way I played! Thought it would be neat to keep myself alien-free.

Dirt Rally. Main reason being that you have to do almost every event perfectly or you won't win and have to replay the whole event over again. Add that to the fact it's super intense because of blind turns and...I just had enough. I hope to finish it some day but...too many other games to play...

Syndicate Plus...too old. I played enough to understand why people thought it was great and the reboot is !@#$. EA...when will they realize IP doesn't make games good? They practically called a potato an apple.

One of them requires finishing the main story without dying even once.
!@#$ that!

Hey thanks for this, I got AoD from game bundle when buying Powercolor 9600XT waaayyy back in 2005 but I never install them that time. I installed it last year and greeted by how horrible the game control was, only played it like 15 minutes before uninstalling.

Can't really list game I haven't finished but one game that I really can't grasp is Homeworld series. Despite that I love RTS in general, played nearly all CnC series, Starcraft and Warcraft but I can't play Homeworld for some reason.
