BenQ unveiled its latest Notebook named the Joybook R56. The R56 is using the Intel Santa Rosa platform, in this case a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo running on a PM965 motherboard. In the graphics department an GeForce 8400M G is responsible for delivering full 1080p full high definition signal via HDMI a rather usefull feature for people that may want to combine an laptop with an HTPC system. The R56 has also an eSATA port for rapid data transfer as well two speakers joined by a 3W subwoofer, as well as noise and echo cancellation software. Finally the R56 features also include 802.11a/g/n wireless, an 8x Super Multi Drive, and up to 2GB of RAM. According to sources the price tag for this beauty will range from $1999.00 from the base system to $2999.00 for the high end.

that sounds awesome... I myself have 1 of their 'top-of-the-range' laptops from last august. the time when Core Duo for laptops had been released not long ago....

Check this out....

this top of the range laptop came with 1Gb DDR2 533 Ram, Core Duo (Yonah) 1.66Ghz, X1600 Mobility (512Mb), Wi-Fi, 14.1" widescreen monitor, external Remote, with a fastish DVD-Rw

this is the top of the range but for some reason their top ranger never came with a TV tuner or bluetooth which were available in the lower end models...

Strange. I though that it would of at least had bluetooth if not the TV tuner & I did question BenQ about it before I bought the laptop...

my laptop is the Joybook S73G

I am impressed with this HTPC laptop! it should have low-end gaming power too.
