Equipped with 3D TLC Flash memory, the SSD offers up to 480 GB of capacity and sports read/write speeds of up to 550/510MB/s. What's more, it also supports intelligent SLC caching and features Low-density parity-check (LDPC) error correcting code technology for enhanced performance and data integrity. Implementing 3D NAND Flash, the SU650 features higher storage capacities (120 GB, 240 GB, and 480 GB), improved efficiency, and better reliability. It also sports a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 2 million hours, compared to 1.5 million for 2D NAND Flash, offering increased reliability.

With the purchase of the SU650, users qualify to download ADATA's SSD Toolbox and Migration Utility. SSD Toolbox allows users to monitor and manage the SU650, with drive status, wear level, and lifespan information. The Migration Utility is especially helpful for users making a move from HDD to SSD, as it is designed for simple and quick backup and migration of the contents of entire drives, including the operating system.

Other than saving some internal space & a tiny bit of power, what exactly is the point in using up a valuable m.2 port & pcie lanes for a dog-slow SATA drive, and then making it worse by limiting it to only 480GB........

Could someone please enlighten me....

There is barely any difference between a SATA and NVMe SSD when it comes to Gaming and OS use, only in CAD, Server, Editing and Enterprise there is a difference.
Most people just want a cheap upgrade from their HDDs.

The thing is, SSD market is already oversatured by a crap ton of SATAs III available in M.2 (WD Blue, SU800, A55, A400 and the rest of endless list) that this literally just makes you wander who tf is in charge in the "innovation" room. Instead, major players and underdogs should aim towards developing more affordable 2, 3, 4 TB SSDs and perhaps MLC (sure high layered TLC is sufficient) development (not just Samsung, Micron, Intel etc.) for workaholics who can't afford anything top tier (Optane etc.) besides 970 Pro (I know, I know, vast majority of the average consumer market doesn't require either MLC or high layered TLC, but usually consumers who work in home enterprise environment as a secondary solution, it is a eventual necessity for them.
 
Top
