NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics card doesn't just max out the 12 nm "TU104" silicon and add higher GPU clock-speeds, but also features the highest-clocked GDDR6 memory solution on the market, to make the most of the 256-bit wide memory bus of the silicon. NVIDIA deployed 15.5 Gbps GDDR6 memory, which is 10.7 percent faster than the 14 Gbps memory used on the original RTX 2080 and other RTX 20-series graphics cards. The memory real-clock is set at 1937 MHz compared to 1750 MHz on the original RTX 2080. At this memory frequency, the RTX 2080 Super enjoys a memory bandwidth just a touch short of 500 GB/s, at 496 GB/s.

Besides memory, the RTX 2080 Super maxes out the "TU104" silicon by enabling all 3,072 CUDA cores physically present, as opposed to just 2,944 of them being enabled on the original RTX 2080. The card is also endowed with 192 TMUs, 64 ROPs, 384 Tensor cores, and 48 RT cores. The GPU frequencies are set at 1650 MHz with 1815 MHz GPU Boost, compared to 1515/1710 MHz of the original RTX 2080. NVIDIA is launching the RTX 2080 Super at an MSRP of USD $699, with availability slated for July 23. The company's add-in card (AIC) partners are allowed to design custom-design cards that come with improved cooling solutions and higher clocks.

@my_name_is_earl true but I am glad I didn't buy any 20 series card yet with the super serie comming out I want to see performance on this RTX 2080 Super before I decide of it's a worthy upgrade gaming at 1440p from my GTX 1080 Ti Hybrid at $699 because the RTX 2080 actually disappointed me in for performance concidering what the GTX 1080 Ti can be had for even on the used market leaving only the RTX 2080 Ti to kill it all.

Bumped the clocks. This one is a squeaker. Is NV using the potential of the card to boost clocks to get us much out of it as possible meaning wont be much room for OC? Wonder how will this 2080S stand against 2080TI. Maybe the "squeaker" is yet to come when 2080S is released. I remember the Titans release.

my guess is, once you put a OC on it on a nice air cooler - it will match a 2080 ti across the board. this is my hope anyway. 2080 ti still has more vram, and will still be faster once it itself is oc'd so i don't think people will complain too much about the price issue, its obviously an enthusiast level card not many people drop 1200 on a card.

if this is the case... i may indeed get a 2080 super.

The OP said the 2080S has the highest memory bandwidth of the 20xx series. I understand higher than 2080TI as well. If the OC potential of the 2080S is kept despite huge boost in frequency at stock then maybe 2080S will be faster than 2080Ti. This would leave only one advantage for 2080Ti. VRam Capacity. It is said that 2080S is the binned of the binned of the cards to the max with 12nm process.

Probably it will be around 92-95% of the 2080Ti for the FE and partner cards will almost almost close the gap (97-98%) to it.

At this point, Nvidia is only competing against itself. RIP AMD.

People had bought GeForce cards when AMD literally offered the same or more performance for close to half the money (HD 5000 series says hi).
So if anything then this generation NV is competing with their own prices... Seem to me Turing does not really fly off the shelves judging by their quartely earning report.

Midrange xx60 parts for 349 and 399USD? Same goes for AMD and their RX 5700 series. Both should've been 299 and maybe 329-349 for the Super and the XT... tops.

hopefully true. if so I am 100% buying one at $699. will buy FE direct from Nvidia and set a strong fan curve and mild OC. 1440p high refresh for me for life. don't care about the extra vram.

partner cards don't beat FE cards even now, FE cards have the best power delivery and OC;ing headroom of any of the 3rd parties. Nvidia made sure of that this round.

For everyone in this thread hoping for something like a 2080ti I doubt you'll be getting it, no matter how maxed out it gets TU104 isn't going to be competing with TU102. The difference to the 4352SP 2080ti is more than the difference between the new 2080 SUPER and the 2060.

Ermm no? you would have to be quite silly to buy an RTX2060 Super over an 5700XT.
And honestly, if you are competing against yourself at the top end its more rip you and then rip anyone else.

While we could get one, there really isn't that much space between the 2080ti at 4352SP and the TITAN RTX at 4608SP. I'd rather see something like a 2085 but I'm sure nvidia only sells as many 2080tis as they do because of the large gap between 2080Super and 2080ti.

How can you say large gap between the two when 2080S isn't out yet. Either way, I think the 2080S is going to be between the 2080 and 2080Ti 'cause there is a noticeable gap. Anyway the 2080TI super is probably not coming out.

It's literally 4% max faster. It's not going to OC better = SP increase only.

Huh? How's getting all of market share in the top end to yourself affects you worse than AMD having none of it?

4% only? Now I'm thinking, if there's any point releasing it. Although if the price for 2080 drops that might be worth something.

That's why NV's GPU sales fell by nearly 50% since the release of RTX. :D AMD competes against NV in the mid and high-mid section of GPUs, which is of highest demand among gamers.

1. you are not selling certain cards of your stock that you did develop and produce because of your own other cards.
2. people might see this sole endeavor as price inflation prone and thus not buy into it at all, rather wait for some healthy competition.

There is no point releasing something 4% faster midlife of the series other than to punish and clear stocks at the same time, next gen could be 40-60% faster at same power in 9 months, of course 20% higher price. So the insult be even greater quicker. they punished 2070 users so much so that lesson learned next time they will go for the absolute beast 104 or 102 chip at launch instead of 106. If you bought 2070 you have been deep learned. Nvidia knows their stuff. but really 15.5 what kind of joke, why not 16. unacceptable.

yes the price is staying same, this is already been confirmed. the non-super models are no longer in production and at end of life.
