OK i've been able to overclcok this thing before but no matter what i do now, im stuck at a limit of 675mhz... no OC app will let me set it higher. I've been able to get 800+ in the past, but now i can't for some reason. I've tried afterburner, different version of ati's drivers, etc.

I know it can be done, my card is exactly the same as this one..

same drivers too

Forget it, I have 5-6 of those cards, using AMD Overdrive, can get one slider to go to 900MHz & the other around 650-700MHz.

This is really an OEM card, while newer drivers may be offered, best to stick with 15.7.1 to avoid problems.

I'm not trying to discourage you in any way, have tried every trick up the book & can't get this GPU to run at 1000MHz (or 1GHz), even though these are 1GB GDDR5 cards. Also, these are PCIe 2.1 cards, rather than PCIe 3.0. If there were a way to unlock voltage, maybe it would do a little better, unfortunately I've not found a way to do this.

Today, have only one in use & will soon be replaced, will sell all on eBay, where I purchased all, except the one which shipped with my XPS 8700.

Sorry about the news, someone had to tell you like it is, these are $20 cards on eBay & have been for some time & for good reason.

Good Luck!:)

i found a setting in afterburner that lets me override the limited clock range. sadly no voltage improvement though. it runs stable at about 766 now. a little better than 650. i know the card is weak, its all i have for the moment other than an nvidia gt 430, or the intel hd4600

i sold all the really good stuff during my move back to GA, and with a 2nd kid on the way buying new GPUs is a low priority. so far i've found a used gtx 960 on letgo for $30, but dont have the spare cash

i have the card running at 766core, 905mem. it has a rather large cooler on it i salvaged from my old 8800gt. if i could bump the voltage i know i can get way better clocks.

If you find a way to unlock the voltage, please post the way you did it here, have an Optiplex 740 where I'll continue to run one. :)

Sorry to hear you can't get that GTX 960, I'd buy it for $30 in a heartbeat, on eBay these sells nearly for what I paid new. In fact, that was my 2nd retail GPU, originally installed in the XPS 8700 mentioned above. Good card, purchased as soon as released for $200, although had I waited two more weeks, EVGA released a smaller 4GB version that would had also avoided scraped knuckles.:D

yea, i had a 970 but that stupid 3.5gb bug got in the way on some games, mem bandwidth would tank in some games

sold it to pay for a tow hitch on the SUV so we could haul our crap from colorado to GA, took the long way too, south across OK panhandle, then east accross TX, LA, etc hauling a u-haul trailer. there were snow storms along I-70 we were having to go around.

im able to play Everspace now at a fairly smooth FPS, though at 1280x720. mostly low settings with textures and view distance on med.

edit: managed to unlock the voltage slider, but the default is already max at 1050 mV. However, you can go lower if you're looking for power saving. copy the contents of the file attached to your msi afterburner profiles folder. edit the file that says "VEN_100..." you'll need to give access to users for modifying the file.

Thanks! :)

Will give it a shot.

After opening with Notepad, looks like this will work with possibly any GPU, am I correct?

That won't do anything. Low end cards like this typically have a fairly basic VRM controller which uses an analog resistor based method to set their voltage. In other words, it's not controllable via software, you have to physically alter the card to change the voltage for the core. It's pretty easy to do though, just need some soldering skills and a multimeter.

Found a better solution, at least as far as better performance goes. Just picked up a GTX 670 for $35.
