Well, I best make sure I actually open the box of my motherboard so I can update the bios then

I do wonder if these newer CPUs are going to be any good compared to their predecessors.... I would like to hope that they have soldered IHS for a kick off... But at that price and with Intel??..... Ummmm...

IPC the same as Skylake-X so it's more like the next refresh of already old chip. Even though CPU prices are expected to be much better than the last generation then I wonder who will actually buy it when Skylake-X wasn't really selling good and those who have it, probably won't make an upgrade to a similar CPU. At least X299 mobos require only a BIOS update.

I find it quite amusing that the 18 core CPU is now half the price of the 7980XE version..... Might have to try get one at some point... Maybe :)

One board with less RGB, and then you have highly engineered VRM fan and axial blower fan on chipset :p

“But, it has a chipset fan! I don’t want that on my motherboard!”

Darn, it has TWO VRM fans. Wooooooooow. Definitely don’t want it now. ;)

/overreaction.

@TheMadDutchDude ...... I just remembered, I have a small 1600w PSU spare, what absolute craziness could we come up with for this build??......

I love the look of this board, I really don't think the lack of RGB on it has any issues with me at all.... :D :D

4 more PCI lanes, 256gb ram support and new AVX 512 instructions.
That's it, so if that doesn't amaze you it's nothing new.

Suppose it's a reason to consider it over the 79xx and 99xx models...

I think every board I ever had that had chipset fans had dead fans on it after a few years. I will admit I didn't keep my machines that dust free back then though....
