TP-Link, a leading global provider of consumer and business networking products, today introduced two highly affordable WiFi routers, Archer AX3000 and Archer AX1500. Both support the newest 802.11ax wireless standard, also known as Wi-Fi 6. TP-Link's next-generation AX routers provide much stronger and more reliable WiFi coverage throughout the home at a price more consumers can afford.

"Wi-Fi 6 technology is redefining the home, leaving previous generations of WiFi routers in the dust," said Louis Liu, CEO at TP-Link USA. "With our new Wi-Fi 6 routers, Walmart customers can experience up to 3-times faster speeds, connect more devices than ever before and dramatically reduce network congestion compared to the previous AC Wi-Fi 5 standard. Now, every household can enjoy the benefits of blazing fast, high capacity WiFi without breaking the bank." With the increase of WiFi-dependent devices, these AX routers are the perfect solution for modern living. TP-Link is committed to delivering more affordable solutions that meet the increasing bandwidth demands in today's homes.

Archer AX3000
First up is the Archer AX3000. Powered by an Intel chipset, it offers incredibly fast dual-band speeds of 3 Gbps*, up to 3x faster than the previous AC generation of WiFi. This Wi-Fi 6 router is equipped with 1024-QAM and 160 MHz channels, enabling it to transfer data faster than ever before for a truly immersive entertainment experience perfect for 4K/HD streaming, intense online gaming and more. It is available at Walmart next week for an exceptionally affordable price, $129.99.

  • Wi-Fi 6 powered by Intel Dual Core Processor
  • 4 Stream AX3000 WiFi
  • 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz
  • Improved capacity for more devices
  • More coverage with less interference
  • 5 Gigabit ports, 1 USB port
  • Backwards compatible
Archer AX1500
Consumers should also consider the ultra budget-friendly Archer AX1500, ideal for users who want the speed and performance of Wi-Fi 6 at the lowest possible cost. With speeds up to 1.5 Gbps, the AX1500 boasts a powerful triple-core processor that effortlessly handles all your connections while simultaneously increasing battery life for your mobile devices, so you'll never have to slow down. It will be available at Walmart next week for only $69.99.
  • Next generation Wi-Fi 6 technology
  • 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz
  • Strong performance with 1.5 GHz Tri-core CPU
  • Improved capacity for more devices
  • More coverage with less interference
  • 5 Gigabit ports
  • Backwards compatible

2402 and 1201Mbps... Really? This crap has really gone too far when the marketing focuses on single digit Mbps on wireless technologies...

Second model is Broadcomm BCM6750 for anyone that cares, which is a triple-core (first one I've ever seen) Cortex-A7. Let's make a new SoC with a six year old core, just because...

Well, if these routers were made for Walmart then price over content I guess makes sense...

Still... Quite disappointing, TP-Link had a good chance to capitalize on the popularity of their Archer series using open firmware...

This is nice I remember lamenting on AX routers when I built a Wireless card using the Intel AX200. You see it cost me $50 to get the card and a PCI_E WIFI adapter. I was looking for routers to pair it with and the cheapest I was like $249.99. I believe in WIFI 6 because right now with my 1900 Router I can watch DAZN, DC universe and some Youtube vidoes (4k) at the same time. If these ship to Canada I will definitely be getting one. I especially like the AX3000. Those are some serious specs at that price point.

Just run hardline like any self respecting person should. I put a 10GBase-T network in my home a year and a half ago, so I'll be surpassing Wi-Fi bandwidth for some time, especially since my server/NAS has an Intel x710-T4 and I've got all 4x links aggregated for a 40gbps server backbone (not trying to brag). I'm mentioning all this because basically in the long run, paying for my 10gig switch and the CAT7 spool ends up to be cheaper than buying top of the line Wi-Fi routers every couple years until Wi-Fi finally gets 10gig (over a single connection) speeds.

I am envious :( that is some serious throughput. I wish I could but my main PC is on the floor above where my router sits. My wife will not allow me to drill a hole in the ceiling to run a cable. So I am left with WIFI or Powerline adapters. I can say I am disappointed with my WIFI solution though. I agree with the notion of buying a top line router is foolish but $129.99 is much more feasible than $249 which was the price of the cheapest WIFI 6 router at launch.

From previous experience with TP-Link routers, I am encouraged by these units, WiFi 6 is more than just throughput, once a full suite of compatible devices (phones, WiFi Nics etc are in use then it should really come into its own, from what I have read we are lookng at Switch vs Hub level improvements.
I am happy WiFi 6 is finally selling at affordable prices.

Then wtf is the point?

Super fast connections when you're in the same room as the router/AP. Me? I'll just run a cable if I'm in the same room...

I have no idea what you are talking about I only have a WIFI 6 adapter and right now I am watching Youtube videos in 4K and DC universe as well.

Yeah, and I can do that on a Wireless-N connection. Just because you have a WiFi 6 adapter doesn't mean you are actually using WiFi 6. The adapters and routers are backwards compatible, so if you're in another room, chances are it's drop down to a Wireless-AC connection.

Wait what do you mean? I thought AX works on 2.4 GHz too? Looking at OP, Archer AX1500 is 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz or 802.11n speeds but AX3000 is 574 Mbps.

Iirc 2.4 GHz can penetrate walls better. Hell, Asus's AX88U the AX6000 model has 1148 Mbps 2.4 GHz throughput.

Yes, but the technology behind AX requires extremely clean connections to work. So even when it is applied and used on the 2.4GHz band, AX doesn't work through walls. The speeds drop right back to AC/N speeds. It will say you're getting an AX connection, but the actual throughput won't really be any better than what you get with an AC connection.
