So much over reacting. Why delete your battle.net account and lose everything youve worked on over the years? Thats just fucking dumb.

Thread title is bias. "Conveniently Breaks Down"

That's just adding fuel to the fire. Why cant the service actually fail because dumbshits are all trying to delete their hard earned loots at the same time? The systems werent built for mass deletions hitting the server all at once.

I already lost them since my battle.net dispute and their diablo april fool joke.
What joke? You litereally wrote off blizzard over an april fools day joke? That's just pathetic.

Maybe keep politics out of gaming related events, even more so when its not allowed in the first place.

Pretty sure they knew what they are getting into/risking.

Not that I want to take direct sides nor care that much 'I hate/avoid politics if possible' but from what I see Blizzard was in a position where no matter what they do it will end up badly one way or another.

Other than that just another 'drama' and ofc the 'internet' ppl are all righteous and whatnot about something that does not even affect them anyway,I bet a lot of them couldn't even point out where Hong Kong is on the world map but suddenly they are so concerned now.

Exactly! When China (or any other huge market) gets involved u just bend yourselves over? Where are your principles?
What u said is EXACTLY why ppl are furious about!
You bend, exactly what any other major company did long time ago, otherwise you don't operate on that market. See Google, Apple and well everyone else.

It is better to be there even is there is... hmm friction, than not being there at all. Otherwise this discussion wouldn't even exist because, there would be no event, no message, no ban, no uproar.

And seriously, the only principle that companies respect are benefits, is this a surprise for anyone?

Well, there were a thousand times ppl ask me to bend the rules while i was managing in China , maybe more than a thousand times. But i never did, NOT ONCE. And the board stood by me, they didn't question my decisions.
Is that clear to u not everyone sell their soul?

Wrong. U go against Free Speech meaning u are against the principle/core value of which the whole society is built upon.
" Don't forget - EVERY VOICE MATTERS"

Also wrong since free speech is specific and clearly defined which is complete opposite to tthat broad and sweeping generalization. Though this case does fall into a grey area.

I just wish I knew every company that despised the first (and second) amendments, and handwaves the idea away as "it's only bad when Government censors speech". Granted that the vast majority of Hollywood and Silicon Valley companies these days piss on the foundation of our freedom every chance they get, but I wish there was a list.

Said it elsewhere too, but oh Blizzard how you have fallen.

This company is not getting a single dime out of my pocket anymore. And that's coming from a long term Starcraft, Warcraft 3, Diablo and WoW player.

Good luck with Angry Birds style gaming, blundering idiots. After the Diablo fiasco you could still think 'a temporary lapse'... but the current stance on Hong Kong just confirms everything so clearly, they've got no way out of this cesspit anymore no matter what they do.

Activision should be worried too, but then again, between the yearly CoD releases there wasn't anything worthwhile to get anyway.

Maybe keep politics out of gaming related events, even more so when its not allowed in the first place.

If you can't see the problem here, you're deluded. China is rapidly taking over, you may not want to see the politics of it, but that won't make it go away. Even if you just care about gaming; are the Chinese games the ones you really fancy? You should take a long look at their PUBG clone, shortly after banning the original.

All hail Xi!

Just some minor drama, by the way. When was the last time you've seen several millions go out to fight for their civil rights?

Find the similarities.

So now we have Blizzard, a Western based company, explicitly giving all of that the middle finger because financially it suited them better. Don't put this on the same line as silly things like Pizzagate or 'just another nerd rage'. Its much bigger.

Its more like I don't concern myself with stuff that has no affect on me whatsoever + I can't do anything about it either so I'm not gonna stress about it.

I don't read political news nor watch it in TV 'I don't even vote as a matter of fact' but nowadays I see this thing even on my go to Gaming/Tech sites and forums which is not why I go to those sites and at this rate I will have to take a few weeks break from visiting them until this goes away cause I aint gonna filter trough this.

I'm glad that so many ppl have nothing else to worry about around their own place/life,well I rather focus on my own ones instead of joining the next 'issue' on the other side of the world or spam gaming forums with it 'look at the Blizzard game forums..'

I don't play PUBG or any Chinese game either.Korean MMOs I used to for years + I'm not paranoid about them taking over every single game I play or something.

Fair enough, of course. But that's just it, it does affect us. First, in the renewed focus Blizzard took as a company. Second, in the influence of China on the global Esports and gaming market. China is the exact reason politics permeate gaming nowadays.

And I do agree it has no place in gaming, btw.

That I understand but I kinda look at it 'its just business' way.
I only play Diablo from Blizzard and while I was not happy about Immortal and mainly how they handled it after but I still play D3 every Season for a few weeks and I don't plan to stop because of stuff like this.
If they actually make Diablo 4 for PC then thats all good with me.

Its never just business, I've learned as much in my time. Even clean business has political elements to it, even just the politics within a single organization can get in the way of rationale.

D4? Forget it man. If it happens it will be abysmal.

Thats still a dumb thing to do. Write off a company cause they announced a game on mobile. Big deal. Dont like it, dont play the game they release. But to write off a company because their announcement failed, is pathetic.

The whole post of yours is very US-centric and doesn’t apply to the rest of the world. Game companies operate elsewhere and from elsewhere than the U.S. Even this forum is international and the majority of members aren’t going to care for a second about 1st Amendment violations.

You can voice your opinion on matter, but it's not your call to pass such judgement. If you didn't play Blizzard game or hardcore fan of any game, your statement weight nothing.
Like I said before, it's their right, and you have your own privilege but you choose to demeaning others. Just from 2 posts, I can see what kind of person you are

I have been playing wow since 2006. And will continue to do so regardless of what is going on with them because I enjoy their games.

I'm a person that doesn't like and can't stand stupidity. That's the kind of person I am.

I would6 say that was debating more like had no clue what the guy was talking about and jumping down his throat for it, also throwing in a personal attack in there for good measure. A debate goes something like the following: "What is more pathetic someone not acknowledging that they are wrong or pretending or pretending that it never happened?

I look at this like how China is trying to strong arm businesses to refer to Taiwan as a part of China, not the independent and fiercely democratic country it is.

Activision/Blizz is bending the knee to an authoritarian regime because they value $$$ over everything else. I'm not shocked, will the boycott do anything, maybe, I already gave up CraptiVision and it gutted me because I was dedicated to Diablo and the sequels when Blizz got gobbled up.

Could they have handled it better, yes, they could of put a delay on the offending player streams, blurred and edited his shit, given him a hard warning, do it again and good bye. But they posted about respecting a regime that doesn't believe it's bound by law, tortures and disappears dissidents...

Sucking up to a dictator, is bullshittery and Blizz/Acti deserve to feel the public's wrath.

BLIZZARD FINALLY CAVED LMAO they got scared of the blizzcon protests LMAO

Progress, it's progress...

But then...

Wow, they are trying to bull shit their way out. The original Chinese post specifically speaks to what he said being the reason why and the nationalist pride he offended.

Oh my... the stock must have been hit, but I wonder how this half ass done we wantonly lie, so who knows if we'll stick to it or quietly reinstate the punishment once the heat is off.

Measuring things by stock prices is not the whole story, long term it would have hurt them, which is why they reversed course.
