600 for any card is ridiculous

While I would never pay that much for one considering how quickly they dont perform well at the high end anymore, 600 bucks for a high end pc product has been the norm for a while so I dont consider that too crazy.
But again, not something I would pay myself.

Entry x30 ~ sub $100(Not really gaming card)

Nvidia's usual msrp ranges for Gaming cards:

• Low end x50/ti ~$100 - $150
• Midrange x60/ti ~$200 - $299
• High end x70/x80 ~$330 - $600
• Enthusiast x80ti ~ $650 - $750

So by the pricing current Turing stack up:

• Low end: gtx1650 $149
• Midrange: gtx1660 $219, gtx1660ti $279
• Highend: RTX2060/S $350/$399, RTX2070/S $599/$499
• Enthusiast: RTX 2080/S $699/$699
• Titan class: RTX 2080 ti $999/$1299

thats only because of how they moved it and at the same time kept it all the same that you think Im stretching anything.

Sure you can go even lower but imo you cant really consider that to be gaming, more like a mediacard that you can also game well on tbh.
One that you would get with overpriced supermarket pc's and stuff like that.

Back in the day I bought an HD6950 from Sapphire plus a game (dirt 2) for 200 euro's brand new.
Now if I want todays equivalent I would be looking at an RTX2060(super) or 5700(XT) at over 400 euro's brand new.

So yeah, imo prices of gpu's have to come down about 200 euro and quickly because right now its just nonsense and anyone supporting this is pretty stupid and anti consumer but hey they can judge for themselves.

Yes, but no.
2060 doesn't warrant "xx60" label, being good 50% faster than 1060, it is a trick to lure typical xx60 buyer into shelling out more bucks. (and as we know from NV slides, it works perfectly)

There is quite a bit of perf space below it, with all the 1660/1660Ti, that is where entry level range is, even 5700 non-XT spanks all of that and is fairly priced.

Laptop skus TDPs and clocks differs from desktop counter parts. RX 5500M will be in Nvidia terms MaxP 85W and according to Anandtech lower cTDP configs will exists. Comparable cTDPs for nvidia counter parts are gtx1650 MaxQ 30W - MaxP 50W, gtx1660ti MaxQ 60W - MaxP 80W.

Know what? Are you suggesting that RX 5500M will come out even more higher TDP than that? MaxP/Max-P in nvidia terms came from Tegra X2 marketing and means maximum performance, while Max-Q means maximum efficiency sweet spot meaning TDP spot when chips perf/W is highest. Granted Nvidia now only speaks Max-Q for laptops, so maybe using Max-P is confusing you.

So AMD has made a RX580 replacement that cost what a 580 used to cost and performs the same as a RX580 and pulls the power of a RX580 (note the 5500 in the picture has an 8 pin connector - unencessary on a card that pulls under 150 watts). WCCF tech claims it has a "110TDP/150TBP" design, which if true, is a whopping 14 watts lower then a stock RX480, and slightly higher then a XFX 480 GTR black. Not impressive for 7nm navi.

Woooo? So much advancement....I think? I mean, go look at the 1650 benchmarks from when it came out. Take note of where the RX570 and RX580 are at. This new RX5500 isnt any faster. Poeple complain about nvidia all the time, but AMD seems to be very comfortable not moving an inch from where polaris once stood, and if this is the best they can shrink Navi down to, big navi doesnt look so rosy anymore.


That isnt exactly unusual. MSI has made AMD gaming laptops, the FX line, for many years. They even made them with bulldozer APUs and AMD dGPUs!

LOL @ you If you accept that the benchmarks are good, the RX 5500 will be ~13% faster than the RX 580. It will draw way less power and you will get Borderlands 3 or GR: Breakpoint from the release.

AMD also claims that typical board power for vega 64 is 295 watt. users know that the cards typically draw over 300, and peak close to 400 watts

With standard BIOS powersave mode, it drew 214W on average and it only meant a 4% decrease in performance. And it's not even manual undervolting.

This card is pointless for desktops until at least Q2 2020 due to the sheer overstock of Polaris inventory. RX570 is really hard to beat at somewhere around $125 and desktop buyers aren't going to care about the extra 30-40W that an RX 570 draws.

What AMD really need is a laptop win, which comes down to real-world TDP and how many design wins they can get with OEMs. If they can get 1650 performance out of around 50W, then this thing will be killer, because they can slot that into most of the thinner 15" laptops and possibly even some of the chunkier 13-14" laptops too.

This is a GTX 1650 competitor and thus it will likely debut at around $170. Replacing the RX 470/570 in terms of position.

Are you crazy? I'm guessing we will see this MSRP in the $199-$249 range. It's an RX580 replacement and should sell for RX580 MSRP roughly.

EDIT: After some digging it looks like these might go even cheaper potentially down to $149.

Remember that this is RX 5500 and should be in the 129-149$ range, there are more space for new graphics cards

What is interesting is the 12% absolute performance over the RX480, pretty good considering ~30% less shaders. However the RX 570 4GB models have been going on sale here for $155 Canadian on the low end. I wonder what the absolute fps/$ will be vs an RX570 4GB?

I would like to see how it performs with video playback, and encoding/decoding vs an RX570 4GB.

Funny, I remember this differently... nearly everything NVIDIA was middle range, 8800GT was hell of a card, 2060 super - is this (and everything else) according new 'entry price'?
Several AMD cards were actually 'budget high level' - care to remember 9800pro or 1950XT (not here, though) or 7950 wiping the floor with NVIDIA more costly solutions? And completely destroying everything in price range?

But back then mid-range was ~200g, and no card costed 1000g... Except perhaps that NVIDIA abomination 220+GTX Super, whatever was it's name, sold about 200 pieces and made solely to allow NVIDIA have 'best graphic card money can buy'...

I know this is not an OC model, but from those 2 benchmark results, it seems the GTX 1660 is nearly 20% faster. However, on the AMD slides, the RX 5500 was closer to the 1660. So there will probably be an XT model of the RX 5500.

RTX2060 costs about 200 dollar too much and instead of making those prices drop, the RX5700XT just matches it....

Wut? RTX 2060 is 350 and the RX 5700 XT is between the RTX 2070 and 2070 Super, closer to the latter. What are you talking about?
