Ballistix, Micron's global brand of high-performance gaming memory, has set a new overclocking world record for the fastest DDR4 memory frequency at 6024 MT/s. Leveraging performance-tuned Micron die and the innovation behind the new Ballistix Elite 4000 memory, the ASUS motherboard R&D team set the record using liquid nitrogen (LN2) cooling and the following system setup: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor; ASUS X570 ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT motherboard; Ballistix Elite DDR4 4000 8 GB memory.

"We're thrilled to have partnered with Ballistix to achieve this new world record," said Albert Chang, general manager of the motherboard BU for ASUS. "Both overclocking teams worked tirelessly to fine-tune BIOS settings on our newly-released ROG CROSSHAIR VIII IMPACT board to unleash the capabilities of the Micron die. Setting the new world record of 6024 MT/s with Ballistix Elite 4000 memory on our new ROG AMD X570 motherboard is a powerful demonstration of the engineering excellence ASUS ROG and Micron bring to the gaming ecosystem." The record-breaking frequency is posted on HWBOT, and the valid CPU-Z screenshot can be found here.

"Ballistix memory has set three overclocking world records in the span of five months, which is a testament to our world-class Micron engineering and expertise," said Teresa Kelley, vice president and general manager of Micron Consumer Products Group. "We are committed to providing gamers and enthusiasts with high-performance memory that delivers maximum system capability and a rich experience, and our Ballistix memory is evidence of that."

Trusted by gamers and pro esports teams around the world, the Ballistix gaming memory portfolio fuses speed, style and reliability to deliver a performance edge that's only possible due to Micron's vertically integrated business model. Ballistix DDR4 memory is Intel XMP-ready, optimized for the latest Intel and AMD chipsets, and available for purchase at uk.crucial.com or through select global channel partners. Gamers and enthusiasts can combine Ballistix memory and the Crucial P1 SSD for a full performance memory and storage upgrade. All Ballistix memory is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

The same setup and only one out of 7 CPUs was able to work at 5000+ (the same results on 3 mobos). All others hit a wall at 4800-4933. No idea if the new AGESA will help and I had no chance to test it yet.

I wonder how long they were looking for a CPU that can reach 6k.

A couple observations:

The infinity fabric was at 1500, so 1:2 mode. Still pretty awesome.

Them timings :p

RAM dude, RAM, not the CPU...

I'm talking about RAM, not CPU clock. So far I was able to reach 5k mark on Samsung, Hynix and Micron on X570 but only on one out of 7 CPUs. All other have too weak IMC and can't pass 4800-4866.
Here is the same RAM as in the topic. Quick run without additional tweaking.

Yep... it’s actually a binning process for motherboards too. Not all can do high RAM as they too as not all equal.

I wish my combo could get above 4333... either the CPU or motherboard is holding me back.

I know this is just a race to hit the highest frequencies, but the latency must be shot at a 1:2 ratio.

How is your latency at 1:1 IF (3800/3733 at 14-14-14-30-115-1T)? I'm trying to experiment with these Patriot Vipers I got off Amazon (thanks /u/buildapcsales!) and I'm aiming for sub 70ns latency.

You should easily get 67ns or less.

I have the Viper Steel PVS416G440C9K (2x8GB). Currently my 3700X can hit the recommended DOCP 19-19-19-39-1T at 4400 MHz (87ns :wtf:), but I want my Infinity Fabric at 1:1, so I'm currently on 3800 @ 16-16-16-40-125-1T which comes out to 71ns and 55383MB/s copy.

Actually out of 4 cpus (one binned - 3 retail)

All could do 5000 on air quite easily (also depends on the memory).

One of those 4 did the 6G

With two modules I was hitting 65ns.

What are you running at 125?

Did you try?

Yeah I'll try using the DRAM Calculator, but currently I'm just changing it in the BIOS. I'm running 125 tRC. This is on a TUF B450M-PRO GAMING.

That might be why you're getting such bad latencies, try reducing it to something like 60-56 to start with. I'm at 48.

I think you might be confusing that with tRAS. My tRAS is currently at 40. (3800 @ 16-16-16-40-125-1T ) My tRC is at 125, but I think I can lower it both further. I'll test once I get home.

Nope, my tRAS is 36.
Your tRC is WAY too high for that RAM. Just try it and you'll see.
