NVIDIA's add-in card partners are ordering fresh stocks of GeForce RTX 2070 graphics chips even as the performance-segment of the GPU market has changed with AMD's introduction of its Radeon RX 5700 series "Navi," according to a Gamers Nexus report citing sources among NVIDIA partners. NVIDIA partners are expecting a slump in AMD's RX 5700 series graphics card inventories, particularly that of the RX 5700 XT, to create a price-point at which to sell the RTX 2070. NVIDIA partners expect RX 5700 XT inventories to run slim as supply of the 7 nm "Navi 10" chips from foundry-partner TSMC may not satiate the SKU's reportedly high demand.

NVIDIA's current product stack has the original RTX 2060 at $349, the RTX 2060 Super at $399, and the RTX 2070 Super at $499. The RTX 2070, which is outperformed by the $399 Radeon RX 5700 XT, was practically phased out from NVIDIA's product-stack as it was succeeded by the RTX 2070 Super at its $499 price-point. With the RTX 2070 making a comeback, it would be interesting to see what its price-point will be. There is a gap between the $399 RTX 2060 Super, and the $499 RTX 2070 Super, although the performance gap between the RTX 2060 Super and the RTX 2070 is a paltry 4 percent, which is easily closed by moderately overclocking the RTX 2060 Super. As of this writing, both pricing and availability of the RX 5700 XT appear normal.

Just to clarify on what's being reported on RX 5700 XT inventories:
  • TSMC allocation for Navi 10 hasn't changed
  • Demand for RX 5700 XT is high
  • Supply of Navi 10 isn't scaling with demand for RX 5700 XT
  • There's hence a shortage that's caused purely due to demand, being anticipated by NVIDIA partners

the availability of 5700xt cards is surprisingly good here, but they're not exactly flying off the shelves.I hardly ever see people on Polish forums get or recommend one since reference 5700xt costs you 1850pln,aib over 1900pln while you can get a 2060S from KFA or Palit at lower than 1700pln and they're 4% apart which is pretty much made up by overclocking if one does it.You can get a 5700 aib for about 1650pln but then again 2060 non-S is 1450pln.

I'll guess Nvidia will also use that lapse as a sign that its ok to boost prices again.

I guess Nvidia isn't so confident that extra RT cores worth the extra price.
Ray-tracing is cool and all, but it is overpriced and costs too much performance to run.

its over priced because Nvidia stumbled onto a feature unique enough to cash in on. It does make you ask yourself, what is liked better, the appearance detail or the performance.

Same as in Singapore and any Asian country, Palit and Galax 2060S start at 600 SGD while the 5700XT Pulse and Red Dragon version cost 660 SGD and more for higher end models.
Overall though Steam Hardware Survey indicates the combine sale of 5700 and 5700XT is equal to 2060S alone. There is no entry for 5700 since most of them would have flashed the 5700 with XT bios already.

Just do a quick google search and see how many Youtubers and HW news outlet made "easy guides to 5700 flashing" dude, even TPU did it. Can't imagine anyone not doing a 5 mins fix for a free 10% performance increase, especially 5700 get like 4% overclocking headroom with stock bios.

Most are too scared to flash their BIOS using built in board flashback functions (or other things like.. enable ram XMP!! after years running @stock), let alone bother with manual GPU flashing.
You might be.. slightly overestimating what the average user is capable and aware of doing.

You base your opinion "most people flash their 5700 bios with XT bios" based on how many youtube guides for this you find? Sure, that must be correct. Most people flash 5700 with XT bios because there's a lot in media about it and YouTube is full of guide :)
Haven't noticed any shortages in 5700xt's or non-xt's. Wonder why they are expecting the slump of 5700 series cards.

I'm just happy I got my RTX 2080 for the price of a 2070 Super, as the prices were dumped here on a lot of different cards from several manufacturers. I wasn't actually going to upgrade, but you know how it goes sometimes... Some brands are still offering RTX 2080 cards for as little as US$560 here.

No shortage of AMD card here either though, with all but one reference design card in stock for the XT's. No reference design 5700's in stock though and a couple of others sold out as well, at the largest online retailer here. Apart from MSI, the reference cards are obviously cheaper than custom boards, which might have something to do with it, or it could be that the board makers have already stopped selling the reference cards.

Well the average people who chose 5700/5700XT over 2060S are people who like to tinker with their hardwares in the first place. Remeber people who defended Vega 56 and 64 because they can flash 56 with 64 bios and undervolt ? awhole lot of them. Basically any thread involving Vega will have that discussion.
Nvidia users though are more oblivious to Bios flashing although I have been doing it since Maxwell.

Enthusiast forums are a niche in the vast market.

A lot of people don't even do OC, let alone bios changes in graphics cards.

Really, how do you know people are not overclocking their GPU ?
This poll from 3 years ago confirm the majority of people do overclock their GPU

You just don't know how extreme the PC enthusiasts community are. For example the 2080Ti owners club are 1000 pages long with people interested in flashing their 1200usd GPU, let along a 350usd GPU lol.

Same with 1080 Ti owners club - 1800 pages

980Ti owners club - 1600 pages

I have built plenty of systems for myself, family and friends and every single system is overclocked, takes like 10mins anyways.

I think you misunderstood his post. He's saying that enthusiasts on forums like this only represent a small portion of the video card market. Most people buy a pre-built PC or a card and install it and forget about it until it's time to upgrade again and they rarely visit a tech site unless they have a problem and need some help. Enthusiasts on a tech forum tend to like to tinker with their hardware.

These are all enthusiast sites, your average Joe (that makes up probably 90% of the market), doesn't visit these. Most of them don't even know what hardware is inside their PC aside from AMD/Intel/Nvidia. They just want to run GTA5 or Fortnite...

Yes, and those average joe are buying Nvidia, not AMD, especially those Fortnite kids with pre-built systems...You expect an average joe just walks into a Microcenter and grab a 350usd AMD card ? you wish.

Yeah sorry but TPU and overclock.net aren't the type of info plebians use. Enthusiasts are exactly that, most of the regular users don't touch this. Especially with NV boost algorithm in place.

As others have said, enthusiast forums are a niche in the global market. Yes, you'll see here and on other similar forums people doing things like this, but most consumers don't.

If you go to a car enthusiast forum, you'll also find people servicing their cars at home. However, the majority of people do not even know about mechanics.

You can't get the idea or even think that the number of Youtube guides are any indication of how many people are flashing 5700 with XT's Bios. This is not in any way a statistic representing how many people are OC'ing or flashing, it is an information from enthusiasts who share their thoughts on YouTube and/or showing some tricks, how to improve performance. From this YouTube videos what you can assume is that there is an increased interests for YouTubers fiddling with 5700 series of cards not that everyone who buys 5700 will flash it with XT Bios. That is simply nonsense.

You can't say that because the information on the YouTube is not representing how many people flash 5700 with XT. This is only for enthusiasts , and enthusiasts doesn't necessarily need to flash, or even buy 5700, they are just into tech stuff.

There are a whopping 150-ish replies to that poll...

GN - 5700/XT card sales wipe the floor with 2070 Super.
Totally non biased title/article reflecting the same piece of news: "inventory levels of an AMD card are expected to drop".

Cool stories, bruhs.

its over priced because Nvidia stumbled onto a feature unique enough to cash in on
It is estimated to be about 8% of the die size. (a piece much smaller than stuff "given" to users in that anti-5700 "super" update)
It's mostly greed that drove prices up.

I kinda agree. I can't see any shortages in the 5700 series GPUs. So where is this "expected drop" information coming from again?
