NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER, the first non raytracing-capable Turing-based SUPER graphics card from the company, is set to drop on October 29th. Contrary to other SUPER releases though, the GTX 1660 SUPER won't feature a new GPU ship brought down from the upwards performance tier. This means it will make use of the same TU116-300 as the GTX 1660 with 1408 CUDA cores, not the 1536 CUDA count of the GTX 1660 Ti. Instead, NVIDIA has increased performance of this SUPER model by endowing it with GDDR6 memory.

The new GDDR6 memory ticks at 14 Gbps, which gives it an advantage over the GTX 1660 Ti model which will still cost more than it. When all is said and done, the GTX 1660 SUPER will feature memory bandwidth in the range of 336 GB/s, significantly more than the GTX 1660 Ti's 288 GB/s, and a huge differentiating factor from the 192 GB/s of the GTX 1660. Of course, the fewer CUDA core resources compared to the GTX 1660 Ti mean it should still deliver lower performance than that graphics card. This justifies its price-tag set at $229 - $20 higher than the GTX 1660, but $50 less than the GTX 1660 Ti.

Well, SUPER. Boring. Though not a bad entry card for half-decent gaming. That bandwidth will make it last.

The 1660 wasn't out that long now there's a ti and a super, seams like a great plan to confuse the ill informed to me and stupid, add or take away a 5 or something ffs, im in the know and it's easily confused which of the three is best and worse.

Also glad im not a 1660Ti owner , no ddr6 joy for them ,they get cheaper memory on their more expensive card?? Seams mentsl to me.

Definitely ,but glad im not a Ti owner I'd feel a bit left out of the ddr6 club.

Seems mental that you mentioned twice how the 1660ti does not have GDDR6 when it actually does, albeit a slower speed.

Instead of insulting another member how about just providing a helpful link.

The 1660 has GDDR5 where as the Ti has GDDR6

Toc toc, AMD where are you?

They are launching their cards on a set time table, this is a knee jerk from green.

I find it absolutely remarkable how Nvidia has reacted to AMD's RX5000 series. I forget how many refreshes Nvidia has released to AMD's 2....yes 2 new sku's. AMD merely has to mention a forthcoming gpu and Nvidia releases an entire series refresh.

Nvidia, no Jenson Huang wants to own the only discreet Gpu company, and is doing everything above and below board to get there. kinda wanted to be a fly on the wall a few times in his office lately, que the hitler meme vid, when he heard Intel were seriously going to get into GPU, I bet he raged.

Thankfully not pumping out 5 versions of every card to milk customers of every penny. Going 1080 > Titan > 1080 Ti > Titan p was bad enough last generation. Nvidia loves inventing new ways to pick your pocket.

It is 10$ more than the 1660, not 20$; MSRP of 1660 is 219$.

This could be interesting when thinking about price/performance.

still waiting 1660super TI Kappa
What would a GTX 1660 Ti Super be? Ti has already a full chip, so it would be just an overclocked version from the current 1660 Ti.

Yeah, because AMD is so much different.

RX480 - RX580 - RX590
RX470 - RX570 - RX580 2048SP
RX460 - RX560 - RX 560D.

Same things with different clocks and/or CUs, but mostly only clocks.

If we go way back, G92 was pretty damn everywhere :D

8800 GT -> 9800 GT -> GTS 240 (OEM)
8800 GTS 512 -> 9800 GTX -> 9800 GTX+ -> GTS 150 (OEM) -> GTS 250
8800 GS -> 9600 GSO

Some of those were die shrinks, but a G92 is still a G92. But yeah, rebranding is a thing which will probably be with us forever.

So AMD put out as many variants of different models over multiple generations as Nvidia has just of the 1660? Thank you for proving my point. Nvidia has released new cards at a rate of 1 per month so far. Let that sink in. Some of which replacing models less then 7 months old. Typically refreshed happen every 12 months. New GPUs cannot be mass prodcuted in a mere 7 months, Nvidia had those ready.

Oh that horrible Nvidia and their..... products for sale. Just when you think they can’t get any worse, they go and release more products for sale. Thieving bast**ds!!

The launching of the products was never the problem, it was the price they were launched at. Launching a 1080 and calling it your best card only to shortly then launch a slightly more powerful card to call it the best to once again launch a card shortly after. Each time charging flagship GPU pricing. Nvida knew the whole time the 1080 wasn't nearly their best card yet they billed it as such anyways.

I don't expect you to respond to this seriously, you seem akin to play the jester instead of seriously comprehending matters seriously.
