AOC has revealed two new additions to their monitor lineup, which seemingly tick most - if not all - of the right boxes. The only thing that differs in both the CU34G2 and CU34G2X is their maximum refresh rates: the CU34G2 can go up to 100 Hz, while the CU34G2X can refresh at up to 144 Hz. The rest of the specs are virtually the same: a 34" VA panel with 3440 x 1440 resolution, 21:9 aspect ratio, 1 ms response times, 300 nits maximum brightness, 1500R curvature, and support for FreeSync.

In terms of color space, the CU34G2 wins out, covering 124% of the sRGB space and 92% of AdobeRGB, while the CU34G2X tightens the color space a smidge with 119% sRGB and 88% of AdobeRGB. I/O wise, both feature 1x DisplayPort 1.2 and 2x HDMI (only the CU34G2 uses HDMI 2.0, though). Both monitors also offer a quad USB 3.0 Hub and 1x Headphone out. The monitors will launch come January 2020 at attractive price points: $450 for the 100 Hz CU34G2 and $550 for the 144 Hz CU34G2X,

I would sell my soul for the same monitor but as a 25 inch screen instead. I have a 34 inch ultawide and a 49 inch ultawide and having a more portable ultrawide with gaming specs would be great for lan parties.

Oh I knew I would ruffle up some with that comment :peace::rockout::clap:

Loosely used term this 4K is.... it really means 4x the resolution of 1080p, right?

Wrong. Maybe if it had a 4X, not a 4K. If that's their reasoning, they need to get edjamucated.

so 3440x1440 being 4K is just someone in marketing not understanding the technology but wants all the buzz words to sell a product.

It's literally ONLY TPU. Every other publication I've seen pimping this press release makes no mention of 4K anything.

I honestly think it's on purpose. It's never addressed here, and I've seen it get indexed by google search and get popped to the top. Us commenting on the practice every time only makes it more useful. lol

100hz is already great improvement compared to 60hz and already a little hard to achieve with a good GPU due to the beefy resolution. but well, it really worth every penny. love it.

I am with you, hurts after a certain point to use a monitor that huge for gaming at a computer desk that big. But I am not sure how I would feel about a 34 inch ultra wide.

I am kinda interested in an ultra wide with similar specs and 144hz refresh.

Wouldn't be a huge difference from your 27":

I wonder if you could overclock the 100Hz edition to 150Hz. I mean my 60hz monitor is doing 75Hz easily without tearing or any of that.

Indeed. I have a 34" 3440x1440x100Hz and a 32" 4Kx60Hz on the desk and choose the ultrawide screen every time, when the material supports the apsect ratio. I won't bother upgrading the refresh, as I can't hit 100 maxed out most of the time, anyway, much less 4K60. I would not mind HDR, though.

You're ain't a kidding. I had taken about 8 years off of PC gaming, and gaming in general. Little over a year ago I brought home an old PC from work (i3 2300) and put a used GTX 1070 in it.

Started playing Black Ops 4. K/D about 0.5:1

Went from a 1920x1200@60Hz IPS to a 144Hz 1080p TN panel. WOW. It was like getting a video card upgrade. KD about a 1:1.

Added the Ryzen 5 2600, helped a ton getting rid of the micro-stutters and hiccups. KD 2:1

Added the LG 34GK950F (34", 21:9, 3440x1440, IPS w/ LFC, 144Hz, HDR) KD 4:1.

I went from going into dark rooms and getting shot by some guy I couldn't see in the corner, to seeing them everytime. HDR was like flicking a light switch on.

Added the RX5700XT. Couldn't play anymore. The stuttering and frame drops were game ending. By the time they fixed it, the Modern Warfare launched and the game is dead.

my 4K 32" broke and I went to the living room and took the 2560 dots Benq 32" back to the office and it's funny but going backwards shows how overhyped we sometimes are. I'm quite fine with it, games FPS are above the roof and not feeling the upgrade neeeeeeeeed
