ASUS Shows Off ROG Swift PG32UQX Monitor: 4K-144, G-SYNC Ultimate, DisplayHDR 1400

ASUS today showed off its latest flagship gaming monitor for bleeding-edge resolution and speed, the ROG Swift PF32UQX. This 32-inch flat-screen boasts of specs made of dreams: non-glare IPS panel, support for NVIDIA G-SYNC Ultimate (hardware G-SYNC), the highest-grade DisplayHDR 1400 certification with 1,400 cd/m² maximum brightness and 1,152 local dimming zones, 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution, and 144 Hz refresh-rate. The included DisplayPort 1.4 cable is required to let the monitor work its magic, besides three HDMI 2.0 inputs. The monitor also offers 90% DCI-P3 color gamut. The monitor will also pack all ROG-exclusive features from ASUS.

No way, closer to $3K easy! The 27" are still hovering around $2K (with inferior spec), so no way this will come in at that, unless they want to end up slashing the price of the 27" significantly, which I don't see happening given other monitors priced below it. This 32" is going to be one of the most expensive 'mainstream' monitors we've ever seen.

1152 zones seems to indicate Mini-LED backlight instead of 300-500 zones on regular LED FALD monitors.
Unfortunately the inputs dissapoint. Still no DP 2.0. Still no HDMI 2.1

very good monitor but bad timing, best thing to do is wait gpus and monitors to add hdmi 2.1 and by that time, price will fall to $1000 for the top ones like this one.

Specs are not that dreamy once you realize that while this offers 90% DCI-P3 coverage, most pro monitors offer 95%+. Also, while 1,152 dimming zones is more than typical FALD, it still means one zone covers about 8,000 pixels so your halos will be still with you.

Isnt this a gaming monitor, not a 'pro' monitor where color reproduction is mkre important?

What has more dimming zones? Or how does this compare to something more typical?

Considering they went to the trouble of certifying it as HDR1400 (there are less than 50 monitors currently certified for HDR600 and HDR1000 together), Asus want creators to at least consider this monitor.
For just gaming , 90% is ok, you were right to point that out.

Well, my initial assertion was that, while article says this monitor features dreamy specs, they're still wanting in some areas.

My dude... you inferred it was lacking in dimming zones as well as color repro for a pro monitor. You didnt mention/allude to gaming and specs were simply listed (bt didnt wax poetic about them, but simply listed a few). I just pointed out that it isnt marketed to be a "pro" monitor and is plenty good for its intended purpose, gaming. I didnt quote you to say anything (w/e that means).

TBH at that release timeframe people should rather wait for uLED monitors or even viable OLED imo. Or at least I would. If you see Linus's videos when he swaps out his TV for Asus's BFGD TV and then changes it for LG OLED, the halo around "local dimming" mouse cursors are atrocious.

HDMI 2.0 in 2020... lol. Might as well just buy a Samsung QLED or LG OLED with all bells and whistles, bigger screen and better price. I hear LG will be unveiling a 48 OLED tomorrow with HDMI 2.1, g-sync compatibility, 4K 120hz + eARC.

Possibly because Asus had announced their pg35vq, and had it all churched up on their website for over a year before it actually came out. Acer did a similar thing though so it's not just Asus, they both announced ultrawide 200hz displays, then couldn't get enough panels for well over a year.

Atleast it's 32" unlike it's predecessor that was 27". Fits more for 4K.
