Erh, what? It won't be slower than gtx1660ti...

By the config it should actually beat rtx 2060(rx 5500 = 1.1*gtx1650s in shaders, RX5600xt = 1.2*rtx2060 in shaders), but AMD choose to use slower gddr6 and thus will most probably loose(12Gbps vs 14Gbps and Amd needs more memory bw than Nvidia). One unknown is how much AMD will strict cards OC capabilities, if it's loose enough then it might be very good card for overclockers.

According to the guys over on Techspot AMD is saying that that the RX 5600 XT will be an average of 16% faster than the GTX 1660 TI but a RTX 2060 is around 33% faster than a GTX 1660 Ti according to the benches on this site so I don't think it's going to be fast enough fast enough to directly compete with a 2060 Super. However the 2060 Super costs about $130 more than the 5600 XT will so there's that to consider.

You could overclock the 5600 XT to get close to a 2060 Super but as EarthDog pointed out you can overclock the 2060 Super as well. W1zzard got a 8.7% gain in performance by overclocking the 2060 Super in his review.

We will know the full story when W1zzard gets one and reviews/ benches it.

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Yeah, you are not properly informed. It does beat the 1660 super, NOT the 1650super. We won't know for sure until its tested by reviewers, but by AMD's own numbers its about 10% faster than a 1660super, which means its about 10% faster than a 1660ti as well. So while it is slightly faster, its also much more expensive, while being 1 year late and consumes more power!
oops, yes.. 1660 super. 1650 super was a typo...

So, it will be around a 1660ti performance, otherwise, the rest remains the same.

Uhm right, who was talking about 2060S, that one has msrp of $399. RTX 2060 is 17% faster than gtx1660ti, RTX 2060S is 33% faster than gtx1660ti. And by AMD internal tests RX5600xt should be 16% faster than gtx1660ti, so actually quite close to RTX 2060.

Yikes. Where is the value proposition for this card? More power use, slower, and costs as much as 1660ti ($279+). Then if rtx 2060 is $299 across the board now.... oof.

It's real simple, look at the chart below and note the big chasm between the 5500XT and the 5700.

AMD has nothing to compete in that range. The 5600XT fills the gap.

The upside for consumers, I'm already seeing the 1660 / Super / Ti and the 2060 prices drop.

But another angle on that price drop, if you look at Steam's video card statistics the last gen GTX 1060 is not only #1 at almost 21% of GPUs being used - it also *gained significantly over the holidays*. That is a sub $200 card now. Even the 1050Ti gained.

The RTX series 2060 / 2070 are stagnant and the 16xx series is not moving much. These cards won't sell until their prices drop. AMD itself is just treading water with the 5500 / 5700 lines.

Seems like you didnt understand the meat of my comment... :(

Clearly it has a place in AMD's product stack, but that doesnt mean it fits well against the competition/market due to price, performance, or power used. Time will tell. :)

I doubt it will be 16% faster. AMDs slide doesnt average 16% and that is cherry picked AMD results.

I think, after getting my bearings, this card will trade blows but overall win by a few percent over the 1660ti but will still be significantly behind (25%+) the rtx 2060. So... more power, costs the same(ish), and is in the performance ballpark. Wheres the value again? Why isnt this priced $20-30 less?

Well, yeah. But that gtx1060 has so many revisions and steam just count them as one(desktop 3GB, 5GB, 6GB/ Laptop 3GB, 6GB and MaxQ versions). But in general I agree RX 5600xt slots nicely right on the spot. Desktop 1660ti should have been EOL since Super, vanilla 1660 should drop to $199 or EOL, Super has fair price of $229 even after RX 5600Xt so it could stay as is. And vanilla RTX 2060 should drop to compete with RX 5600XT, like EVGAs KO is doing. Either way RX 5600xt is stirring the soup just nicely.

I doubt it will be 16% faster. AMDs slide doesnt average 16% and that is cherry picked AMD results.

Uhm for sanity check how do you calculate average? I'm using this pic:
1578849578455.png

And use normal average calculation (131+133...+108+118)/15 ~ 116.4 % vs 100%, which is 16.4% faster to be exact. And for rtx2060vs1660ti TPU numbers 146%/124% ~ 17.7% to be exact.

Sure amd is cherry picking with choosing renderer and settings benefiting them. But overall I'm still excepting it to be more close to rtx2060 perf than gtx1660ti even on TPUs own tests.

I think it’s a nice card for those of us who wouldn’t want to give Nvidia another penny.

Sorry but IMO....Ever since the 970’s debacle , I’ve never bought from Nvidia again.

So I base this card on its own merits and price and not a comparison because I don’t care. If Intel comes up with a graphics card, then I’ll give that a look.

And Nvidia lowered the US MSRP of the RTX 2060 to $300. I mean it's well and truly over for the RX 5600xt. The only reason to consider it at all now is if it came at a price of $240 to $250. No one would buy it for $280, even before this price reduction it was way too expensive for what it offers, but with this move, Nvidia ensures that 95% and more of the consumers will go and get a 2060 over a 5600xt.

You may want to wait and see its performance... ;)

That price drop is very likely. I’m seeing the 5700 at ~ 310 right now, and that will whip the 2060 with ease. You can thank AMD for the Nvidia price drop too.

I mean the RX 5600xt is actually faster than the RTX 2060, so at $280 with the updated specs, it is actually a great card. In fact we have Nvidia to thank for this one, because if they didn't lower RTX 2060 prices to $300, AMD would not have increased the clocks and make it 6% faster over what it was.

It would have been garbage if it released with its original specs and speed, but with the update its actually an awesome card, in fact I'd say if you don't have $330 to $370 to spend on a RX 5700, this is an awesome alternative as its only 7% slower on average than the RX 5700.

I am happy to recommend this card now and say that its great value card.
