Just think of it this way. It releases on original date and plays like No Man's Sky and then takes a 6-12 months to patch to an acceptable level....or they delay it for a short duration to make it a better experience.

At least they didn't notify people a week before release about the delay.

every delay you will have someone say, well that's better then a buggy game. execs are like we could make a lot more money if we just delay it till the new xbox and ps5 come out, make some more dlc's for it in the mean time. studio is like, This is the way.

They are giving it the usual visual downgrade and bugs only to be packaged in a DLC package later.

They delayed this to make progress on Witcher 4, which is riding the Netflix momentum.

I'm ok with this. CDPR only delays games when they want to give a game that extra bit of polish. It's only a few months and as Solaris17 mentioned in another thread, it's better for them to wait and take their time to get things just right.

My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined...
You'll be ok and happy when you actually get to play it. :toast:

There is gonna be plenty of other games in between now and then coming out and hopefully we will see this packaged with the new NVIDIA cards. I got an EVGA 2080 Super and a 9900K cpu just to play Cyberpunk 2077 but im beginning to think that I should have waited for a real upgrade with Ampere.

Funny how usually this is sort of bad news because it suggests the game wasn't anywhere near ready and the development process could be facing serious problems, but since it's CDPR it's alright.
I'd rather wait a few months than play a bug-infested crashing pile of shit. Well, unless it's a feature, like in most Bethesda games.

Good news only if they add a option to switch to 3rd person mode. I still have no plans to pay full price for this game if that option is not avaible in the game. What is the point of all that character creation customization if you can't even see your player half the time.

BOOM.

This is why you don't watch timers and countdowns to launch.

Now, get a life while you still can.

Or... they delay and it still needs a day one patch :) You know it will

Good news only if they add a option to switch to 3rd person mode. I still have no plans to pay full price for this game if that option is not avaible in the game. What is the point of all that character creation customization if you can't even see your player half the time.

Don't know, but if you play a 3rd person do you walk around with a vanity mirror to look at yourself?

3rd and 1st person are game concepts. Its not just a funny lil mode to switch to. It has implications to game mechanics. That is why in many games built for 3rd person the 1st person mode is pretty shit. Or both modes feel out of place. Skyrim for example... Compare that to purist 1st person FPS in how it feels and moves, and to a 3rd person action game...

Maybe it's a bit inappropriate, but THANK GOD!
I have a few games on a backburner after Christmas sale, and not enough time to enjoy it all. And some weird and annoying think called "job?" gets in the way occasionally...
Timing is also perfect, cause it's right around my birthday.

They should take all the time they need. Maybe even giving this April date was a mistake. There are more good games than you can could possibly play in your entire life, as long as you have open mind, there is no reason why you would need to play this exact game at the exact time of April 2020. Unless you maybe expect to be dead by May 2020 :D Just calm down.

The "we could make a lot more money" statement doesn't make sense. The current gen install base is huge (over a hundred million PS4s sold). If they'd delay again, then yes - the game would launch in the next gen. But this means most of the wallets will be turned towards making the jump to next gen - which means not investing any more into current gen and not buying the game on current gen platforms. What would happen if they'd release it for next gen platforms? The first year next gen combined console sales will most likely be around 10-15 million and only a percentage of the console owners will be purchasing Cyberpunk. This would mean quite a bit less money for the dev. If they'd release it before the next gen, then they can easily grab the attention of current gen gamers and their willingness to buy the game on a current gen platform. After the current gen (at its peak) has been milked dry and the next gen consoles have gotten some time to grab a sizable chunk of the market share, then the devs could do the same thing Rockstar did with GTA5 - release on the next gen as well, and rake in even more cash.

It’s always alright to delay a game until it’s actually playable without bugs. This is a benefit of them being their own publisher: they can release when ready, not when the publisher says so.

Yeah, its was kind of obvious. I hope it won't get delayed again, but it's a massive game and they want to make it bigger and better than the Witcher 3, so I actually expect another delay until 2021, probably early 2021 though, maybe a March release date.

But yeah, it's better to be delayed and be an amazing game, rather than release earlier, but be a mediocre game with lost of bugs.
