There is literally ONE card at $310 and it is on sale...the rest are all $360+ at amazon, note. $250 is a lot more realistic on so many fronts...

... but as I said, I don't think many will shake a stick at the current price point. ;)

I know it is really sad that mid range GPUs command such a price premium when the mining craze is gone. I will patiently wait and see how this card compares to the 5700 and 5500XT.

They are a for profit company and all...$199 for this card would be utterly ridiculous.

Truth be told, it will be priced right...

$250 would've been the perfect price. It would've fought off the 1660 Ti and give an even bigger upper-hand against the RTX 2060 non-Super.

Its great, this fight for the midrange, but we are none the wiser for it until the high end starts making progress again. Its still 1080ti basically and we only have that to thank for our lack of movement lately.

These perf/dollar drops are all they really are. They could have just stuck to Pascal and Vega for all we care, for the most part. I mean, yes, the cards are architecturally newer, but why would we care if the bar isn't moved from what we already had available. Our cards drop in value anyway, a lot of time has passed.

I think we will see much more price movement until Ampere hits, which will then make all of those purchases practically worthless due to a notable jump in the whole stack, also in featureset. You have been warned.

This seems right on the money...AMD needs to do *something* to keep their foothold, and they have a great stride right now. This is a stop-gap while they cook the next thing up in the lab, I just wish they had something to fight in the flagship space.

Yep. I get the impression Navi was really picked up seriously when Raja was getting out of the picture and they now realize they have fallen behind due to their Vega adventure. Their RT move and the new console release are very much related, we could perhaps even say it is Nvidia who provided the canvas for what the new console gen had on offer.

In a way the PC is dictating the direction of gaming nowadays. For online, it is Esports and the crowd that generates that is responsible. Minecraft (already has an RT makeover!) also originated on PC and other hits like the MOBA and PUBG too. The next one is the return of strong SP experiences and those work very well with the RT push. Ironically the internet gave single player its new mojo, as it got new exposure through the Let's plays and popular reviewers and all that. We can more readily 'share' our SP experiences too. It all fits right in.

Once again we see why we need competition.

aren't reviews suppose to come out in a few days now? Does it mean reviewers have to test it again assuming they are already currently testing or just finished testing the card?
Yes…

AMD's intention with the original relaxed clocks of the 5600 XT was to allow AIBs to release a broad variety of cards along the price/perf curve, which would fill that market segment and push NVIDIA out. But NVIDIA's price cut of the 2060 torpedoed that plan, and I imagine there will be some unhappy AMD AIBs now. AMD also has no other choice but to drop the price of 5600 XT if NVIDIA drops the 2060 price further, something I imagine they are reluctant to do (and are less able to do than NVIDIA).

For those that had testing completed before they reached out to reviewers, yes. From what I have heard, at least with one AIB card, the performance difference is quite significant from what it shipped with to what it does now.

Well no s**t. They added ~200MHz on the clocks, that's around 10% more speed, and we already know Navi 10's perf scales stupidly well.

Its going to make the 5600XT VERY interesting and the 5700 a lot less interesting for the difference in pricing.

Not really, considering 5700s can be flashed to 5700xt spec. 6G is what limits the 5600xt from being flashed to a 5700, plus the bios are encrypted so none can be modded.

Why is this surprising? All I see is Sapphire's early slide (no P/N), and now this is just their normal mainstream OC (8%) Pulse model. There's no AMD/RGT reference design (what the original spec promotes) and likely most of the models that AIB's will actually be pushing will be non-reference spec's. How is this any different than Sapphire 5700 Pulse with it's 7% out of the box OC?
if NVIDIA drops the 2060 price further, something I imagine they are reluctant to do (and are less able to do than NVIDIA)
I think you mean AMD/RGT... but seeing the TU106 being like 80% bigger even on and older cheaper process than the Navi 10 IDK, while then Nvidia uses the expensive memory. If as the rumors on GDDR6 memory do come true I'd expect the premium stuff used by Nvidia would be harder to get and see more in pricing increases.

Truth be told and from some things I have seen lately around the internet I think the 279 price was fake and will actually be cheaper than that, probably around 200 to 225 range.
Nope. :)

lol, you say that like its obvious... lolol...wasnt responding to you in the first place..but glad you know! :)

Well, for starters, there are reference clocks/specs even if there are no actual cards. As you should have gleaned by the article, it appears these were shipped to reviewers with the reference clocks.

Let's not forget that all the weird pricing from AMD's end is partly due to wanting to clear out as much old stock RX 550/560/570/580/590s are left in the wild as well as allowing them enough time to build up sufficient numbers of 5500s/5600s to replace them.

I think you should read it again....

"AMD has allegedly changed the specifications of its Radeon RX 5600 XT graphics card through a BIOS update being pushed to manufacturers, according to an HKEPC report."
They don't say when this went out it. One could suspect back two weeks ago because I'm sure these cards are in transit to the retailer as we are 4 days away now.

I guess we'll wait to see if this happened when review come out on the 21st.

I'll be more clear when I can. :)

For now, I've heard at least one model sent to reviewers was sent with the wrong clocks and updated. I've also heard other models may be getting other updates, but none of those were said to match the difference on the reference clocks to proper. :)

Yeah, can be normal for some for these releases. While for most of the BS off the internet it's clear as mud.

I see the memory bump as significant. I see this just as part of "competition" when when your vying with an actual competitive product.

I'm glad both Nvidia and AMD are pushing this level of performance into the more mainstream $280-$300 price point. This should compliment the new consoles well.

I do not like this trend of manufacturers sandbagging performance like this.

Unless these can continue to be easily accessible via overclocking, and not hardware locked.

Is your memory so short?? Don't you recall what AMD did last July 7th with the 5700? They let nvidia think that they were debuting at a certain price then lowered it after nvidia response right before 7/7. nvidia will eventually get that AMD lets them think one thing then right before launch pulls out a better price and or better performance. nvidia is too dumb to figure out that they need to stop trying to steal their thunder because AMD keeps stealing it back days before launch. nvidia should wait until after launch day when product is finalized, not before.

Im not worried, if the 5600 is the same as the xt, just do the flash to allow higher power levels

Yes of course, Nvidia is dumb, AMD is smart. It's amazing how Nvidia manages to be the market leader, if they are so dumb... The thing was so genius, that AMD in the same quarter of the RX 5700XT launch, lose market share to Nvidia. (AMD loses 5% of GPU market to Nvidia in Q3 despite the RX 5700-series launch). Clearly Nvidia was trolled by AMD and Navi stole all the thunder, right?

Only the naive people believe in these jebaited BS. AMD has positioned the first Navi prices according to certain competitior products, but when the competition responded with performance gains for the same price, AMD had to position their cards with lower prices. Simple as that!

The same is happening now, Nvidia when cutting the price of the RTX 2060, forced AMD to work on the RX 5600XT, in order to improve the competitiveness of the card. Be it performance increase through clocks or price reduction. This time they chose the first route, because it was probably the easiest. It´s the same Navi 10 chip and so they had some scope to increase clocks and avoid lowering the price.

Go to 5000 series and you can see just how much better it is than the 5700. I'm still a bit surprised.

according to steam survey 2060s sold twice as many units as 5700/xt combined,2070s three times as many.
yeah, they jebaited the crap out of nvidia's thunder.

Anyone with even a sliver of mindshare for either company a or b will not jump ship for a minor price cut on an otherwise inferior product. Oops did I say inferior... We are still looking at a difference in feature set. However irrelevant it may seem..

And yeah, jebaited, do we really believe business is conducted through twitter posts?! Please.

believing such nonse is all what's left for some people
we're at a time when a Fury X equivalent would actually be good, just 10-20% behing the 2080Ti and same feature set.

JHH has already mentioned consoles as their point of reference.

ampere might go through some price adjustments when new gen consoles drop, but think about what it means for dGPUs when they go against a product with a +5 year life cycle.

Anyone with even a sliver of mindshare for either company a or b will not jump ship for a minor price cut on an otherwise inferior product. Oops did I say inferior... We are still looking at a difference in feature set. However irrelevant it may seem..

you can't pick on rtx 2060 super having trouble hitting 60 fps consistently at 1080p RTX when your own $400 card does not support it at all,and does not compensate for it neither in traditional performance (5% stock vs stock) nor in vram capacity (same) nor in temps and noise (same or worse) nor in overclock headroom (same or worse,it's a silicon lotery really how much navi user can achieve with UV and turing user can achieve with oc).

you can't pick on rtx 2060 super having trouble hitting 60 fps consistently at 1080p RTX when your own $400 card does not support it at all,and does not compensate for it neither in traditional performance (5% stock vs stock) nor in vram capacity (same) nor in temps and noise (same or worse) nor in overclock headroom (same or worse,it's a silicon lotery really how much navi user can achieve with UV and turing user can achieve with oc).

You say it right, its the same. These things are side grades more than anything, and all we got is a price drop. RT really isn't an argument now, but it definitely will be next gen.
