ARCTIC's long-running CPU cooler gets a worthy successor. It feels like the end of an era: the Freezer 7 Pro has long been one of our most loyal companions, and even though it wasn't a high-performance beast, it was known and loved by countless customers around the world. But after more than 10 years together, it's time to say farewell.

Out with the old, in with the new. With the new Freezer 7 X, we're able to present a successor that not only builds upon the success of its renowned predecessor - it outshines it. The Freezer 7 X reaps the benefits of an improved heatsink design along with a reworked heat pipe layout. In conjunction with the fan, which is optimized for high static pressure, the ARCTIC Freezer 7 X sets new standards in cooling. Compared to its predecessor, a performance increase of almost 10 % could be tested — and at a price that has been driven down by optimized and more efficient manufacturing processes.

What's changed?
  • Pressure-optimised Fan: With a PWM controlled, pressure-optimised 92 mm fan, the Freezer 7 X offers high cooling power at a low price.
  • Direct-Touch Heatpipes: Two direct-touch heat pipes with pre-applied MX-2 thermal paste enable ideal heat dissipation.
  • Multi-Socket Compatibility: Good across the board: comprehensive compatibility and easy installation thanks to varied mounting options for both Intel and AMD.
  • Full Heatsink Cover: The Freezer 7 X's black heat sink cover makes it visually impressive.
Fans of the Freezer 7 Pro can rest assured: if you liked the Freezer 7 Pro, you're going to love the Freezer 7 X. Above all, this compact and light CPU cooler proves once again that at ARCTIC, high quality doesn't have to come at a high price.

Main Facts
  • Compatible with Intel & AMD socket
  • Pre-applied MX-2 thermal paste
  • Extended life span thanks to low coil temperature
  • Lower power consumption and less vibrations with new motor technology
  • Offset heat pipes ensure optimal heat dissipation

Availability
The Freezer 7 X is available now on the market and on Amazon at a price of $19.99 MSRP. Available soon: the Freezer 7 X CO variant with double ball bearing.

Most likely cost is driven down by using only 2 heatpipes instead of 3. Though it's interesting how they managed to improve cooling efficiency using 33% fewer pipes.

Mostly unrelated, but the courier page says my Freeze 34 was delivered 20 minutes ago :peace:

Ummm, it doesn't look that impressive to me :( In fact, it looks quite fugggly IMHO, why can't they just make it all one color, like, maybe, all silver or all black wth ????????

Indeed, there was a point of time when owning a Freezer 7 was almost mandatory, if you lived in some post codes you were issued with one.

Still have one running in a media rig cooling an i7-2600, and I originally bought it to cool (IIRC, it was a while ago) an Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Manchester.

End of an era...

So they say, well their page still shows 3 pipes and their is all so the Freezer 12 with 3 pipes. so maybe they are just nerfing it so the 12 sells ?.

I gave up on this company some time ago due to all the shortcuts they started to take with the vcard coolers. In fact the only thing i bother with of theirs is the paste.

Not every case fits a 120mm cooler and in terms of 92mm coolers the freezer 7 was the budget king.

Think of the freezer 7 not as a competitor to the Hyper 212 but more so the 92mm counterpart.

It's this new Freezer X that uses 2 pipes, 7 uses 3.

Also, why would you ditch their CPU coolers because you don't like their GPU coolers? Me, I've been with them for like 15 years (or longer) and I have no complaints. I just need a cheap cooler that will be quieter than a boxed one. If it happens to also cool better, that's cherry on top because I've stopped overclocking years ago. My last CPU to run oc 24/7 was an AthlonXP 2500+.

I believe the "7" came from how it was compatible was LGA775? That is a lot of history man

AC Freezer 7 was for Socket 775, AC Freezer 64 Pro was for AMD systems. I had a Freezer 64 Pro, traded it to my uncle many years ago for a TT Big Typhoon...

Most likely cost is driven down by using only 2 heatpipes instead of 3. Though it's interesting how they managed to improve cooling efficiency using 33% fewer pipes.
Possibly bigger heatpipes? Though the new offset pipe placement should make a major difference by spreading heat across the fins much more evenly. Also, the new fan with closed-off sides ought to do a much better job at forcing air through the fin stack.

If I was in the market for a bargain-basement cooler this might look quite interesting - it's nearly half the price of a Hyper 212 after all.

This new cooler sports 6mm pipes, it doesn't get smaller than that afaik.

Arctic had closed-off sides for their fans for years, if not a decade now.
