It's a known bad batch. Contact a rep, as said above.

The bad batch had been off the shelves for some time, but some shady sellers seem intent on selling old recalled stock. Some even show up on reputable "fullfilled by amazon" orders.

@OP:

Can you please explain to me how a thermal paste, that once applied, is basically stationary, could have caused this damage ?? Unless of course the following happened:

1) the paste contained some abrasive particles, OR your heatsink/cpu surface was dirty with old, hardened paste, AND

2) you applied the paste and then twisted & turned your heatsink many, many times before and/or after tightening the mounting screws....

I have used almost every brand/type of thermal paste over the years of building pc's (including kryonaut) and have never encountered a single one that contained ANY abrasive particles whatsoever, so I am just trying to imagine what would cause this issue....

It happens with this bad batch. Known issue with abrasive particles in the paste itself.

Yeah, to be fair though it hasn't happened since. If I was them I would go after these sellers selling old batches like a bat outta hell.

As @R-T-B mentioned above, this is a known problem. Reach out to the company and let them know. I've seen this and bought some fine grained sandpaper to polish out the nicks. It's really not difficult. If you'd like some details let me know and I'll walk you through it.

I like others have had it happen when I got bit by some shady marketplace seller.

The nicks/abrasions are indeed not deep at all and can be polished out with relative ease.

Hi,
I gave up on kryonaut long time ago seeing it's only 1c better than nt-h1 or nt-h2/ mx4 2019 that are just as good and a lot cheaper.

Right. It's as easy as buying some 1200 or 1500 grit sandpaper, laying it on a very flat surface and lightly polishing the affected heatsink surface.

Cheers for the feedback chaps.

This was first time I used Kryonaut, I had always used Arctic Silver and never had a problem.
As you can imagine I'm regretting trying something different now.

Going to try the fine grain sandpaper idea and polish the nicks out. :(

Do you know if there any way to identify the bad batch from the packet?

Why so many people buy kryonaut for an air coolers? For fack sake, this is for liquid nitrogen setups. Just use aeronaut like every decent living human being. It's cheaper and perform just as well. Or use the trusted mx-4.

Mx-4 is my goto and indeed pretty close.

I just use the best on my rig because I can. It's really not worth it nor needed.

If you want a more modern, less bleeding edge, more consistent quality paste, Arctic Cooling MX-4 is my bet.
