Damn, I never thought I'd see high end desktop AMD chips in laptops, which are relatively portable as well.

Well, the AMD chips are pretty energy efficient, the laptop assemblers feel confident in their cooling solutions, these are relatively thicker laptops.
These were launched back in July 2019, so maybe it's about time they begin participating in more mainstream desktop machines, too.

This press release sounds moar like an AMD Ryzen ad than anything else, given how many times it was repeated

As usual, no prices were included, most likely to prevent sticker shock, as cramming (and cooling) a desktop cpu into a lappy had to require some nifty but expensive engineering/design work...

And since when is 6lbs considered "light" for a lappy anyways ????

6 lbs is light, only 2.7 kg, I had seen laptops 3.6 kg and heavier.
Price will be affordable.

I would argue that they could have used the Radeon RX 5700 XT in it...

6 lbs is not light for a standard laptop. This is considered a desktop replacement (which means you should be bringing the AC adapter with you) anyways, so I expect at least 2 to 4 hours battery life on Better Battery mode.

TBH, they should've used either the newer RTX 2070 Super Max-Q at 90W or the RTX 2070 Mobile (a.k.a. Max-P) configured at 100W to 115W.

It comes up to around 2,200 USD with 16 GB of DDR4 (2400 MHz, unfortunately) and a 1 TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus. This is a modified Tongfang GK5CP0Z, which has proven itself really good with thermals. Power supply looks like the standard 240W that some Alienware laptops use.

Isn't the laptop's chassis from the same OEM as XMG's? The look seems quite similar to XMG's recent announcement, is a 15", and it also can stuff Ryzen desktop CPUs running in Eco mode.

The only notable difference spec-wise is the lack of a 3rd storage drive. The XMG version can have up to 3, this one can only have 2.

Yup, XMG (sometimes) uses chassis from TongFang too.

This one does have three drives:

  • Up to 2x 2 TB m.2 PCIe SSDs and x 2.5" SSD/HHD/SSHD

The CPU is 3900 (non-X), which has a 65W TDP out of the box, and possibly many cTDP down options.
