COUGAR today announced the release of a gaming-styled sofa (and yes, now you can believe it isn't a typo or this editor simply mixing home furniture concepts up in his head). The Ranger has been designed, according to COUGAR, for smartphone and console gaming, and features a reclining mechanism (95º to 160º) that allows you to take a quick nap whilst your teammates do all the hard work through that raid or pesky dungeon you've already gone over and over again. In this chair, you're royalty, after all.

The frame is surely made of viking-smithed steel (COUGAR only states steel, which is surely a technical oversight from someone having written the description in a sofa other than the Ranger). The material is high-quality, breathable, heavenly leather with a real diamond-cut pattern. There's lumbar support, a headrest, and a footrest. Sadly, there's no support for that 12-year single-malt whiskey you've been saving up for such a gaming-oriented occasion, which seems like a slight oversight. This Ranger doesn't feature the usual mobility associated with that particular gaming class, though: at 700 mm width, 980 mm depth, 1,025 mm height, and 31 Kg of pure, comfortable mass, it won't be a good companion for either your wallet (shipping costs) or an accessory to prove your supremacy in battle, to be carried over by a page. One-year warranty and an April 22nd shipping date have been given, and the Ranger should be available for $280.

It needs a toilet in the bottom. :D

Who wants to get up while gaming?

Also, mini-fridge accessory mounting,

"When you pass out from 12 Foster's oil cans, the Ranger's auto-crib feature lays your body back gently at a luxurious 160degree slumber."

In Taiwan they eat dried squid and drink kaoliang, so no need...

Also, how is that sofa?

So they made a reclining chair look ugly and have no function other than to recline and say it's a "gaming sofa"?

All I know is that I'm not seeing a sofa in those pictures, at least not what a sofa should be in my eyes. I was expecting a loveseat or couch. I'm missing something here, aren't I? I know I am....

Perfect for Geriatric Gamers.

On a side note, I thought it illegal to call it Leather if it isn't, at least in Australia where Leather goods must have the appropriate tag or labeling.

Pleather is not what you think it is...they have seriously perfected it to feel like leather and yet it breathes.
I'm telling you, all the best gaming chairs are made from world's finest pleather.

I'm telling you, all the best gaming chairs are made from world's finest pleather.

Some science for you - don't fall for the bullshit. Materials don't magically get better. Just the marketing around them.

Lifetime of PU is 10-20 years, depending on thickness, composition, and the way it is used; it can tear easily, and will start breaking once it has been wrinkled and aged a few years.

But, this is PVC leather. Its not the same, and PVC does not breathe.
So, its a choice of sweaty bum versus low durability. Pick your poison

Structure. As previously explained, PU leather and PVC leather differ in their structures. PVC has more layers underneath its coating, making it tougher and more durable. PU, on the other hand, has less layers, making it more pliable and flexible to work with. PU can even wrinkle and stain like natural leather would while PVC can stand more extreme wear and weather condition.
Breathability. Due to its foam layer underneath its surface coating and skin layer, PVC leather is much less breathable than PU. This gives PU leather the advantage when it comes to being the preferred material for wearable clothing items. However, since PU leather has more pores on its surface, this gives PU leather the risk of absorbing stains and other unwanted particles. This is why most upholstery uses PVC leather instead.
Durability. PVC’s multi-layer structure and lack of pores, as compared to PU leather, makes the material more durable than PU leather. This is why PVC leather is mostly used in upholstery and footwear. Utilising PVC leather could result in additional product lifetime as well.

This leather thingy must be addressed properly. It is getting confusing. Plastic sentetic stuff are being advertised as leather.

I think this is an infinitely better idea than those daft "racing" chairs.
