One of the perks of AMD's Ryzen processor line is unlocked base-clock multiplier across the board, even with its upcoming $99 Ryzen 3 3100 quad-core processor. _rogame unearthed a Futuremark SystemInfo database submission confirming a 4.50 GHz all-core overclock, achieved on an inexpensive ASUS TUF Gaming B450M-Pro motherboard, with 16 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3200 memory. Also, SMT is left untouched, as the processor has all 8 logical processors (threads) enabled. Just to show this isn't a one-off, another FM database submission shows a 4.40 GHz all-core OC on the Ryzen 3 3100, with a similarly inexpensive MSI B450M Bazooka Plus motherboard, and 16 GB of dual-channel DDR4-3000 memory. The unlocked multiplier appears to add tremendous value to this two-figure chip.

This is the kind of thing I had hoped AMD had for us with the initial Ryzen 5 lineup back in 2017. After our review kit 1800X could do 4.3GHz all-core with SMT I thought that an extremely competitive quad-core option at 4.2-4.4GHz could have been a blockbuster. This is still great news for the budget restricted looking to build new, so better late than never.

Ryzen 3100 is a Zen2 CPU, and ultimately reaches Zen2 clocks. Cooling it is extremely easy.
If someone really wants to push allcore 4.5Ghz... Sure, but expect extremely high voltage.

Unless it is on some low voltage (<1.3v) it is nothing special.
Some chips made after 2019 week 32 had really good silicon quality.
On my 3900x I can do 4.4 on 1.3v ( stable for daily use) , and 4.5 at 1.4v passed Cinebench ( 12 core 4.5 is too hot for daily usage)

Because its spread between two CCX in one CCD, I don't think heat density would be too high as their bigger brother

I got my 3600 non-X at 4.5Ghz all core SMT enabled @1.42v. Does 4.6 all core, but temps get toasty. So yes, I do see how the 3100 could be a great deal from AMD!

May I ask how much voltage do you need to push 4.6 all core ? passed any benchmarks?

I had to set voltage to 1.48. Too high. Running an X62 on it. Temps got into the mid 90's. I got scared so never tried it again lol ran CB R20 score 4190 if I remember correctly. It's in my other system atm. Can post some screenshots at 4.5ghz. Think score is 4025...

This is normal i think. My Ryzen 3600 is stable at 1.32V with 4525Mhz (all cores) on ASRock AB350 Pro4. For 4.6Ghz I have to raise voltage to 1.38V.

Prime95 stable? My 3600 also boots at 1.35v but crashes when tested with Prime95 small FFT's.

I have never tried Prime95. My cooler struggles in OCCT without AVX so you can imagine what would happen in Prime.

Well these are shaping up to be some really disruptive CPUs. I can't wait to see the test between these and the I3s and AMD's APUs like the 2400G and 3400G. I hope that when TPU gets samples for review that you base the review on processors within the MSRP ballpark of these.

Thx

Really want to share screenshot for 3900x 4.5GHz.
But my ambient temps are too high right now (30C)
Cannot do 4.5 on all core, had to turn 4 cores off to make temps manageable.

I can post with 4.6GHz when the ambient is like 15C , but not now :banghead:

Yes
That's really impressive for Zen+ CPU

I guess I got real lucky then :) I don't have to turn off any cores or SMT even at 1.42v running 4.5Ghz solid. My 3700X runs at 4.4Ghz all cores with SMT at 1.36v. I can do 4.6Ghz on it, same voltage if I disable SMT. But that defeats the purpose of buying a 3700X if I'm going to disable cores or SMT. So 4.4Ghz is real good for a chip like this. Cheers!

never had issues with all core OC, my daily OC is all core 4.3@1.2v

not a big fan of high voltage OC

I mean it will do 4.2 all core..just at 1.45 to 1.47 volts. That is a bit too high for me, so i just left all cores at 4.0 at 1.31 volts.. Maybe the 3000 series i will be able to get a bit more out of.

darn, and I thought no Zen(1/+/2) can go above ~4.3 all-core below/at safe voltages...
well the comments have proved otherwise already
