The GDP WIN Max is the latest handheld PC from GDP, described as an all in one product that combines the portability of a handheld and the graphics performance of a gaming laptop. The GDP WIN Max has smashed its Indiegogo funding goal of $25,000 currently sitting at over $1,300,000 USD, the handled PC features vastly upgraded internal from the GDP WIN 2 now featuring a 10th generation 10 nm Intel Core I5-1035G7 CPU with Iris Plus Graphics 940, paired with 16 GB of DDR4 3733 MHz ram, 512 GB M.2 SSD and 8" HD screen. The GDP WIN Max is on sale at a special crowdfunding price of $779 USD.

The devices features an upper case made of CNC magnesium aluminium alloy and a main body made of LG-DOW 121H aviation-grade anti-shock ABS synthetic resin. The shell measures 1.3 mm thick and features high-temperature resistance, Class V-0 fire resistance, 109R Rockwell hardness, 26000 kg/cm² bending resistance, an intact rate of 92% in 5 m drop tests.

On the back of the machine is a variety of I/O including L1 / L2 and R1 / R2 buttons on both sides, USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3, USB A 3.1 × 2, and HDMI. A collection of 9 air outlets along with dual fans and cooling pipes below the hinge of the device handle cooling and are designed to avoid hinge blocking air-flow. In testing, this cooling solution kept the CPU under 80℃ while ramping the fan speed up to 6300 RPM.

The GDP WIN Max is a significant upgrade in terms of gaming performance compared to previous models. The integrated Iris Plus Graphics 940 can run most games at 30~50 FPS at the devices native resolution of 1280x800, popular games such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, DOOM, Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 all run well above 30 FPS according to GDP's internal testing, with some optimization these numbers will likely rise closer to 60.

The 8-inch 1280x800 IPS screen features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for scratch and drop protection along with 90% coverage of the DCI-P3 wide color gamut, DC dimming without flickering, and 500 nits max brightness.

The 10th generation 10 nm Intel Core i5-1035G7 performs well in benchmarks beating the AMD Ryzen 7 3700U, AMD Ryzen 5 2400G, and the Intel Core i7-4790K which is especially impressive given this is a 15 W TDP part. The paired Intel Iris Plus Graphics 940 is no slouch either beating the AMD Radeon RX Vega 10, NVIDIA GeForce MX150, and trails just behind the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX250.

The inclusion of a Thunderbolt 3 port on the device will enable compatibility with multi-monitor outputs and external GPU enclosures to help boost gaming performance. The Thunderbolt 3 port along with the USB Type-C connector both allow for 65 W charging of the device's internal 57 Wh battery with the included wall connector.

The full specifications of the device can be viewed below or at the Indiegogo page.

When they start giving devices with an Intel Processor a fire rating, you know you got to worry.

LoL What ? Only in some irrelevant synthetic benchmark. Neither the i7 1065G7 beats the 3700U under proper cooling:

Did the company ever discuss why they chose to drop Ryzen instead of sticking with it? Their prototype originally ran with a Ryzen embedded APU. And ironically, a Ryzen 4000 Mobile APU would have probably been a much better choice, given how well they punch even in slim laptops with them.
