Samsung Globally Launches Odyssey G7 Curved Gaming Monitor

Samsung Electronics, the leader in the gaming monitor market, today announced the global launch of its groundbreaking Odyssey G7 gaming monitor. Unveiled at CES 2020 in Las Vegas, the Odyssey lineup reimagines the gaming experience by combining the deepest, most immersive curved displays with best-in-class performance features.

The G7 monitor is the world's first 1000R gaming monitor, meaning it boasts a curvature radius of 1,000 millimeters. It also features a powerful combination of various features under the hood, including rapid 1 ms response time with 240 Hz refresh rate and crystal clear QLED picture quality to satisfy gamers' need for smooth and captivating gameplay. The Odyssey portfolio's premium performance has been certified by TÜV Rheinland, a leading international certification organization, which recognized the monitors with the industry's best high performance 1000R curved display and 'Eye Comfort' certificate.




The 27- and 32-inch G7 delivers a rapid, 240Hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time and deep 1000R curvature, giving games an edge. The curvature is the same at any size, however the depth of the monitor depends on its size, so the depth of this 27 will be akin to the depth of a 32 at 1400R.

Curvature is personal preference, but I'd love to try 1000R, I'll have to wait until somebody makes it in a bigger size and cheaper, though.

This has more curve than previous monitors of the same size.
Earlier monitors are 1800R and 1500R.

1000R curvature on regular boxed ( 16: 9 , 16 : 10 aspect ratio ) is pretty useless IMO. I found their last CF791 to be quite good at first, but on next day you just forgot it. Your vision likely adhere from muscle memory, so this is pretty useless in practical way.
Oh and why you still using QLED Samsung? I hate your over-yellowish color tone and aggressive DCR

The monitors these are replacing had a lot of the same features, you just couldn't turn them all on at the same time. It's like getting to play mix and match after you bought something thinking all the features were usable together. Hopefully Samsung improved that aspect.

Looking forward to a review, but I'm probably going to pass for a 4K 100hz+ monitor.

Been all over that 100% cringe worthy product page on Samsung's website, but NOWHERE a single mention of the actual specs and panel.

Static contrast, where art thou? When I see 600cd/m2, I read 'it shall be grey' when it shows black, until I read static contrast specs... Assuming Samsung still uses a variation of VA for their QLED nonsense, we need this number badly. If its anything like their VA TVs, grey it shall be.

1000R on 27 inch though is ridiculous. So pass anyway

100% unrelated blabla (resolution... so QLED brings brighter and more realistic.... 'shades' (???) and hues for vivid game visuals.) - Okay, where is resolution in this one?
