Corsair unveiled a new high-capacity 4 TB variant of its MP510 M.2 SSDs that take advantage of the PCI-Express 3.0 x4 host interface, and NVMe protocol (model: CSSD-F4000GBMP510). The drive retains its Phison PS5012-E12 controller, but paired with 96-layer 3D TLC NAND flash. The drive retains the manufacturer-rated performance numbers for the 2 TB variant: up to 3,480 MB/s sequential reads, up to 3,000 MB/s sequential writes, up to 580,000 IOPS 4K random reads, and up to 680,000 IOPS 4K random writes. Thanks to its high capacity, the drive enjoys a stellar endurance rating of 6,820 TBW. When it goes on sale, on June 4, the drive is expected to be priced close to the USD $800-mark.

Yeah $800 is a hard pass. Especially with all of HighPoints RAID controllers being announced. You can get your 4TB w/ dually 2TB sticks and be damn near twice as fast for the same money. Anyone needing MORE doesn't care that the drive is $800 though, and are probably stacking them up like a pack of gum anyways.

I always need more space but I'll stick with the dual 2tb intel 660p that I currently have.

I highly doubt that that's going to happen. It's my opinion that 1 TB will be the sort of sweet spot for most users for years to come, any more than that and the price to capacity issue is going to be too high. Unless of course you want to QLC and that's just yucky.

It still scales there pretty well though...I bought the Adata XPG SX8200 Pro 2TB for like $270 almost a year ago. Right now on Amazon the 1TB is $140, the 2TB is $260. There is still value added going bigger. 2TB+ is where it goes to hell, if they're available at all. Instead of being around $500 (like a 4TB SATA SSD) and still scaling linear, they're north of $700!
