GECUBE First to Unveil AGP 8X Radeon HD 2400Pro

Video card manufacturer GECUBE unveiled yesterday its AGP 8X version of ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro. Codenamed GC-RX24PGA2-D3, the new RV610-powered card boasts 256MB of DDR2 memory, native DirectX 10/Shader Model 4.0 support and ATI's Universal Video Decoder. The card is already starting to hit the stores and costs a little under 65 Euros. GECUBE is also expected to introduce 512MB version of the card.

Is anyone still waiting for the ATi DX10 AGP cards?
They perform so poorly that you might aswell just get a 7600 GT.

This would be great in an HTPC, especially if you built it with leftover parts.

Exactly! I don't think this card's target audience is hardcore or budget gamers but more of the Home Theatre enthusiast market. With a HDMI port that'd be pretty good. If only they could make it a half height card, they'd be onto something there.

Not when one is using the ASRock motherboard that contains both agp & pci-e and with core 2 duo cpu support.

I could be mistaken but dont the asrock motherboards only have pcie16 slot but it runs at x4 speeds?
And doesnt he cpu bottleneck disappear when the IQ is increased?

Wow, that cooler looks rather "beefy" for an entry level card. It isn't a passive setup, but if these cards allow for fan control I bet you can keep everything very cool with almost no noise.

I would have to agree with the person that thinks they should release these in a low-profile version... that would allow me to build a home theater system from parts in my old PCs.

Now, if they can just integrate these into the motherbaord while retaining the HD abilities... that would be a nice option for a new home theater PC.

I would be tempted to get one of these for my sister's computer. It'll be better than the 9550 it's got now I'd wager, and it's about as cheap as you can get for any card with ok performance, new or second hand.

Most of Green and Reds less than top range cards are meant for HTPC or folks who dont really game like we do on this forum. Looks nice though, at least AGP is still being supported...

youre thinking of the socket 775 one, their 939 uli based boards (939dualsata2 and 939dualvsta) had proper agp8x and pci-e16x (and they rocked)

I heard a rumour that ULi were or in the process of making a patch to that u could use AGP & PCI-E at the same time. Im not too sure if they ever fully manage to implement it. though I also did hear that 1 or 2 people were running both AGP & PCI-E at the same time. god knows how...
