ASUS is giving finishing touches to the PN50 line of mini PCs (desktops) powered by AMD Ryzen 4000 "Renoir-U" APUs. Under the hood, these 115 mm x 115 mm x 49 mm boxes feature processor options ranging from the Ryzen 3 4300U all the way up to the Ryzen 7 4800U, an 8-core/16-thread beast, along with storage options that include up to 64 GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory, M.2 NVMe SSDs, 802.11ax networking, and 10 Gbps USB 3.2 ports. Swedish retailer Inet listed a few variants. The model powered by the 4300U is listed at the equivalent of $326, the one powered by the 4500U at $335, the one with the 4700U at $386, and the one with the 4800U at $506.

Given that these Renoir U series are miles better than the best Intel Icelake offerings those are going to some seriously good mini PCs.

This might be a fine alternative to ASRock Deskmini A300, been using it for several integrated solution. Though I like ASRock much more because they use non-soldered / socketed CPU.

AMD is hitting Intel's CPU hard in every segment. With this, they are effectively entering the NUC segment with a very competitive APU that offers higher core count and high performance iGPU. If the pricing is good, I feel Intel's NUC dominance will tank because as it stands, Intel's NUC cost a lot even for the ones that run on iGPU that is not fit for games.

I'll be interested in any part with the full CU count, I like to have an Emulation PC under the TV, and current Intel NUC iGPU's have so many issues with TV's and scaling, as well as Vulkan. Also, a better GPU to run higher scaling on 3D games would be a boon.

Some real numbers would be nice not some BS 150% faster than a traditional PC, like WTF that could be a PC from any time dam it could even mean a single core system.

And shi being China it could mean the ZhaoXin CPU, lets hope not.

I won't be bothered looking at the marketing slides to be honest. Its normal for them to come up with numbers from the air to make it look attractive. The fact is that there are already quite a number of reviews on Renoir processor based laptops, so we don't have to guess how well they perform.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.

We need AMD to make a reference platform so that this form-factor gets more market traction.
AMD NUC. It's the Next Unit of Computing. AMD had Graphics Core Next before Intel had NUC, and Renoir has GCN in it - so I'd enjoy seeing who wins the petty legal battle.
